Shatashloki Ramayana and the upcoming Vanara Gita and the two versions of Ramayana of Swamiji and Bala Swamiji and speeches in different languages will all be available at this site soon. These cannot be made into DVD s because they are very long. Some are very long and we will require 10,000 DVD s to convert them all. Only some people may be interested in purchasing the DVDs. If we print 1000 copies and not too many get sold, then we will be having inventory and warehousing problems. Neetimala in Sanskrit with commentary in other languages are all there but right now are not available to the public. Later on the Ashrama may sell them commercially. Now we are making all these items available to all at a minimal affordable cost. These are all very valuable. These were recorded first, which is a great thing. Now you can easily download and listen. That is another great thing. You can listen to a whole story in a few days.
Swamiji has given these serious topics in a funny and entertaining way. Otherwise people will go to sleep. Only if it touches them personally they will listen.
It has to have a personal interest. Ashram Veda boys say that Swamiji’s speeches are like lovely music that puts them to sleep. They say that even the way Swamiji calls their name sounds so sweet. Half an hour you keep awake and enjoy listening to these. Vanara Gita was rendered so entertainingly that even the recording technicians fell down laughing.
We have big cameras and enough equipment to run a television studio. But we should not become commercial minded. Maintain a spiritual attitude, and not make it a marketing venture. Only devotees should do it. Swamiji should never get into business deals. Do not make him do it. That invites hell.
Karnataka state Governor Venkataramayya once had a toothache. With Swamiji’s music he was cured. He gave a saree to Swamiji seeing him as Mother Goddess Annapurna Devi. While leaving, he asked for a good service opportunity. Swamiji said there was no need for any service. At the steps as he left, he said he felt guilty. Then someone told him there was litigation about the land given to build Sri Datta Venkateshwara temple. You know the rest of the story.
For school construction, rupees 80 lakhs out of personal funds from earnings through Swamiji’s travels was going to be used. The governor protested.
Swamiji travels to see someone. Sri Chakra puja and bhajans are only excuses. Swamiji has no need to do worship or to sing bhajans. He does them to teach you and to inspire you to do them also. Do I need to sing, play musical instruments, or perform worship? No. Healing music heard in Swamiji’s presence has special powerful vibrations. Swamiji can say, “Just listen with earphones”. I come out of love to be with you.
To teach you by example I do all these things. Not for myself.
Do not get into demonic traits. Maintain human values.
As long as Swamiji is alive I want that free food should be given. I tell them, “Please don’t collect money and sell food.” But I sell laddoos at Sri Datta Venkateshwara Temple for fund raising. I do not need to do it. Just one devotee can easily give the rupees 50 thousand. But Swamiji likes to do that seva for the Lord.
Swamiji himself chants the Hanuman Chaleesa so that you also do it.
Late sixties 8mm movies are now lost forever. They are not available. Swamiji used to stand and sing those days. Labor class people, auto-rickshaw drivers, plumbers and slum people and also rowdies would attend. They still come. Swamiji has built 18 temples in their residential areas. He personally went there and stopped them from doing animal sacrifices.
Datta Seva is only for social service. Only rupees five per day. Even common people participate in this seva. It is very affordable. The money is used for building bathrooms in schools, and to provide necessary furniture. Funds are used for flood relief activities and for building homes for those who became homeless, in Andhra and in Tamil Nadu in places like Kuppam. I know that many devotees to this day are not members of Datta Seva. They have the attitude that they gave elsewhere for something else and so they do not need to give here. It is very wrong to think like that. Your small contributions add up and much good gets done. All of you should participate in this social service scheme and renew your membership every year.
Very strict trusts we have at the ashram. Education, religious, and social relief schemes all are separate. Do not be shy about giving only ten rupees. Drops makes an ocean. Grains make a heap. Rice grains each adds up to make a mouthful. Give as per your capacity. Do it with a good mind and with a large heart. Sonti Krishnayya has offered to give one lakh of dollars for this temple construction in Dallas. In secret he gives always in Mysore.
Return water taken from the lake back to the lake. Giving arghya with the chanting of mantras has a very significant meaning. “I have taken one fistful from you so I offer you my penance as compensation. May you receive one hundred thousand times in return for your loss, by the power of my penance.” That is what the mantra means.
When you take from Nature, you must return also something to Nature. You give pain to plants when you pick flowers to offer God. With control you must leave some flowers on the plant for tomorrow. Show concern for nature. Grow at least a bonsai plant or a Tulasi plant in your city homes. You say you have no time. You have no time to breathe? Make time. Ten minutes. Don’t say you have no time to download Swamiji’s music or discourses. Immediately do it. Don’t give excuses. How can you sleep without doing your duty?
It is like telling Swamiji, “You do it yourself”. Because we have modern technology and a wonderful opportunity, you must preserve photographs also. HD quality photographs we have made available for you to download and print.
We have SGS quotes. Many do not know about this website. You must search and find out all that is available. Swamiji told devotees that they should download Guru Gita. Many devotees did it at once. How to remove Aadhi vyaadhi?
Everyone asks for money first. People think that they can buy health if they have money. It is wrong to think like that. You should first pray for health, devotion, knowledge and then wealth.
Vanaras are not ordinary monkeys. They were all once great sages. They asked Hanuman, “What will please you?”
Hanuman in his childhood was cursed. He teased the sages as a child. So they cursed him, “You will forget your powers.” Anjana pleaded with them to reverse the curse. Then they modified the curse. They said, “When he is praised, he will remember his great powers and he will shower his grace. He needs praise. Jambavan and Angada praised Hanuman. Then he remembered his strength and flew across the ocean. When you visit Hanuman temple you must praise the Lord. It is the same with Guru. You should not feel shy. You benefit by praising Hanuman and praising guru. Do not forget past grace received and always expect new favors from God and Guru.
Swami Chidatmananda has completed his tour of USA but came back here just to be with Swamiji for ten days. He wanted to spend this time with Swamiji. Use your opportunities. Do not waste. Give at once your service or your donations before you change your mind. Don’t justify and say, “In Mysore I will give. I will give next year. “ Be Like Perni Lakshmi. Give at once. Suddenly the mind changes. Before it changes, do the good deed. Do it. Take the car out at once to visit the temple.
Women in Mysore go to the cinema. They arrive there late, after the cinema has already started. Then a doubt occurs whether the back door was locked or not. With that worry they miss all the fighting scenes and the corn field romance. All are only settings in studio, not really shot in Paris. It is all only animation. All cut pieces of dialogs joined together. Even the actress forgets that she spoke those lines. It is all an Illusion. We applaud.
Sage Parashara asked Hanuman, “What is the most special worship for you?” For Hanuman, it is ‘Praise’, that which removes all illusion and ‘aadhi vyaadhi,’ diseases of body, mind and soul.
Hanuman, Vishnu, and Guru are being praised today.
