In this 14 th Brahmotsavam, the Teppottsavam – Raft festival is being conducted while the mangalashasam is being chanted. Praying to Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami to bless us with fortune, good enough to witness this glory of the Brahmotsavam festival for the coming years also. We know the mahima – indescribable grace, shown by Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami and the mahimas seen by us. Without losing devotion on Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami and devotion on Sadguru, we must face all the circumstances that occur in our lives. No matter how many ups and down come in life, how much mental tensions incur, how many insults, losses and difficulties come your way, come and worship the Brahma murthi continuously with manas – mind. Then we will be victorious. Only then all the programs will be completed as desired by you. Saying so, I pray to Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami repeatedly.
It will be only our utter foolishness to loose devotion on Sadguru and Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami. The stories that are told in the epics are just mirror images of incidents in our life. We pray Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami, “Let there be no defeats. And if there are, then make our defeats temporary and make us win truly and continuously. Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami, please bless me with knowledge and make my life purposeful and worthy. I do not know my intentions. You know them very clearly. You clearly know why You gave me birth. What work You want me to get done in this life? How do You want me to experience this life? In what way do You want me to be sad? In what way do You want me to make You laugh? In what way should I be laughing? Only You know!” Offering such prayers to Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami.
“I am praying to Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami not to give me fickleness in mind or otherwise even in dreams. I pray to Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami to give me strength to pay for my deeds.” The devotees on the commencement of the Brahmotsavam festivities should make such sankalpa. This sankalpa was told on the first day of the festivities of Brahmotsavam. “No matter in which state I am, be it in wakeful state or dreaming sleep or dreamless sleep, I should always persist with Your devotion and not leave Your devotion even in a tiny way. There should be no fickleness in my mind on You. I should not do any mistakes or sin with respect to my Sadguru, even in my mind. No Guru dosha – sin, should fall in my mind. I should not discuss and criticize any such sins or mistakes. I am praying to Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami, please pardon my mistakes. There are so many mistakes in this human being life. Please forgive me God. I surrender my atman, my intellect, my mind, and my sense organs at Your lotus feet. Please give me good light. I want to fight my darkness. I must win with Your blessings.”
We pray Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami repeatedly. All those who have assembled this year for the Brahmotsavam festivities are lucky souls. Who other than Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami knows, what would result in which circumstances? What difficulties are faced by the souls in the creation? Which souls are in sadness? In what flow are the souls flowing? Which souls are caught in troubles? Which souls are giving birth to the child? Which souls are losing the priceless love, because they are not aware of the value of the love they are getting? In what circumstances souls are crying or laughing? In what circumstances is that soul? In which hospital are they? What operation they are undergoing? How and what kind of accident happens to them? Who are walking on the wrong path?
“O Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami, please pardon our mistakes and lead us to good path. Please remove the pain and give the needful happiness to us. We are offering prayers to You. Let the human beings life pass smoothly. Solve their difficulties and quickly dissolve them in Your lotus feet. Why are You giving them troubles? People who are young and old are facing lot of sorrows. What mistake have they done? Praying repeatedly for pardon. They are good devotees. Why are you testing their devotion? You know what mistakes they have made and You know how much punishment You are giving them for their mistakes. We are not able to see them undergo a punishment. That is why I am praying You. I am not able to see the people who I like when they are facing difficulties when they are lying in the deathbed. Give the old ones mukthi, give devotion to one who has met with an accident. He has lost everything and he is in coma. Why such life?
A lot of money is spend on him by way of selling the house and other properties. With spending the money, the disease that will not be healed and leaving them like orphans. The sons and daughter in laws are crying. The son who inherited the property is losing it by way of spending on his father’s treatment and operations. Your son is so much pained for your health. He has landed in great debts because of your treatment. Selling all the properties, your son is doomed and neither will you survive nor your son will. Do you need such treatment? At least by now you should realize and support your son against the society, as the society will speak ill of you son if he does not get you treatment at this stage. For the fear of society, your son is getting you the treatment. He is funding the treatment by selling all his properties. What is the use of such treatment, as you will not get back to normal health once you have lost your two kidneys? What can you do about it? Even if someone were to donate his or her kidney to you, then the donor is suffering. Do you want such life? Do you want all this to happen for you to survive for four days? Your son has accumulated or invested the money for his progeny. Do you want him to spend such money on your treatment or use that money for his benefit and his family? You die without anything and I am dying, bearing you. I am killing my heart, I am killing my children, o old man, you do not die and you are killing me. You do not live and you are not letting me to live. O Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami please removes the difficulties of such people.
Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami, take away all such diseased people and dissolve them into You. At the most, what will happen, maximum the relatives will cry for 2-4 days. Later they have their manas and life to attend. Is it possible for them to go along with the dead? Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami knowing this truth, why are you draping them with ignorance repeatedly? Some old people are suffering with diseases and some suffer because of their sons. Is this any good? Swami how much great is your Leela. Who belongs to who is this world?
The girl who I got married, has come to live with me, leaving her parents behind. It is my responsibility to look after her. O old father, I am confused between whether I am cheating my wife or because you gave this birth. I am spending so much money on your treatment. That girl has left her everything behind and held my hand like an orphan. She has four children with me. She is striving for my face and happiness in society. What am I supposed to do? Should I cheat her or lose you? I am not able to understand.
Lord, in normal circumstances I possess a fickled mind and you did not bless me with devotion to You. You have given me a mind full of desires. A mind, when not contented, is in sorrow. Therefore, it is a life of discontentment. Then there is jealousy because of which I am suffering badly. Then I complain to You about others. You have given them this and that and did not give me what I asked for, in spite of doing so much for You. And so I have landed in such circumstances. I am sorrowful on most of the days. Not a day I had sleep with content. I am suffering on daily basis because of tensions. I am taking sleeping tablets for getting sleep. Even though I have Sadguru, I am suffering.
O Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami, what mistake did I do? Please excuse and show me a good way. Please bless me with mental peace and remove my jealousy. I am suffering because of the worldly affairs. Please save me. I am suffering from inside because of the diseases of worldly affairs and I am getting illusioned. I have done big sins and mistakes. Please pardon me. I will not repeat the mistakes. I will serve on Your feet. Now I have learned my lessons. I have told lesson to my intellect. Please save me. O Sadguru, You know all these things. You are my savior, You are the giver of light, please give me light in my heart. Please remove my darkness and ignorance. Please get rid of my infatuation darkness. I know these things are temporary and clinging on to them, I am suffering.
O Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami, please pardon me. Dissolve me in you happily and not otherwise. Do u like my crying? O God, do you want me to cry all the time? Coming to your diving presence, should I cry here also? Are You satisfied with my crying? Is there anything good about this crying? O Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami, how nice it would be if I could cry for You and not for the vehicle, progeny, children and not having money in society. I am doomed in all ways. Did I cry for You even one day? Did I cry for seeing you?
All this is my drama. There is no devotion in my heart. It is only drama. Even the pranams I offer to You seems to be a drama to me. O God, how should I be with devotion? Who will show the way to me? I have a Sadguru, but no matter how much He tells me, I am not able to understand. Give the energy to understand what my Sadguru says. Tell my Sadguru to tell in a way that I can understand. Ask Him not to tell me indirectly. Ask him to tell me directly by slapping hard on my cheeks and make me walk on right path. O God, give me Your grace for this. Ok, my Sadguru has grown old. O God, my Sadguru is young, masked in old man form. Ask Him to slap hard on my cheeks and at least now give me knowledge. Saying so, praying to Sri Datta Venkateshwara Swami repeatedly.
O God, I have had enough births and faced enough of difficulties. Do I need this births that contain tiny bit of happiness and problems? Do I need it? I do not need it. You are giving me the things that I have not asked for. Oh ok, you are saying I asked these things long ago. O yes, that is also true. You are telling truth. I asked it out of ignorance. You are fulfilling such bad desires of mine. How many times have I asked good desires like dissolve me in your feet. Why don’t You fulfill such good desires soon? What are You saying? I should wait for the appropriate time as it came for Prahalada? No problem, I will wait for the correct time. I will keep doing good deeds and wait for my time. No matter how many births and how much time I have to wait, I will wait. O God, I will wait and watch until my time will come. I will wait until You will give me license and give me a place in Your lotus feet. I will not leave You, just as my Sadguru will not leave me. I will not leave You. O Sri Datta Venkataramana Swami, please make this kind of agreement between my Sadguru and me.”
