Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji after kalyanam of Sri Jayalakshmi Mata and Sri Narahari Teertha Swami – October 12 , 2013 – Mysore
This marriage is not an ordinary marriage. It is the marriage of Jeevatma and Paramatma. The marriage of human beings is a marriage of body. This body is nothing. It is temporary. Atman is eternal. Atma is giving orders to Jeevatma and then Jeevatma mixes with Atma. This is called Divine marriage. In human marriage, one person who is sinful and full of desires, gives instructions to another similar personality. Such marriage is temporary. Sometimes due to misunderstandings these two human beings are separated. In Divine marriage, once the meeting of Jeevatma and Paramatma happens, there is no separation again. This is the Divine marriage of Jeevatma and Paramatama and not of the bodies. We have witnessed such a marriage and served them in our own little way.
Today, both Sri Jayalakshmi Mata and Narahari Teertha are very happy. They are blessing me, the devotees and the world. We wanted to perform this Divine marriage on many occasions, but there were so many hindrances. I am very happy that in this 25th silver jubilee year of my music, the Divine marriage happened. Jaylakshmi Mata is very interested and keen on music. Today Sri Jayalaksmi Mata planned these sacred moments. Today is Her real birthday.
Happy birthday Jayalakshmi Mata. I never feel She has left. I always feel Her presence around me. When you offer pranams to Sri Swamiji, She is there witnessing your pranams. She blesses every word that comes out of Sri Swamiji’s mouth. She blesses saying “so be it”. This is the reason I always remain calm in all circumstances.
No matter how much angry I get, how much I am insulted, no matter how much I’m degraded, no matter how deplorable way they worship me, I don’t say them anything. I don’t say anything to anyone, irrespective of the person being murderer or thief. I don’t say anything. The secret is, if I say or punish them, then I will again have to take birth to uplift them. Mother Jayalakshmi Mata protects me by controlling me to not say anything. She protects me like this.
Many people are doubtful about Sri Swamiji’s behaviour. Yesterday Sri Swamiji scolded them, today He is talking to them again. This is the secret you may not know of. When they know the secret, they will not do these wrong things. What is the use of scolding? Even if you punish, the person will revert back to previous bad behaviour and may even over do it. Ask the police, they will explain it to you. So I neglect them and believe that nature will correct them. This is how Jayalakshmi Mata stands near by me and controls me.
For Sri Swamiji and His devotees, difficulties seem to come like mountains, but they get washed away like mud gets washed away. Many come to Sri Swamiji fearing the difficulties. Sri Swamiji does not give them any mantra, but only asks them to be courageous and keep their faith in Swamiji. With this assurance, they get the energy of a thousand elephants. They complain that their entire body is aching, paining, that they cannot sit or stand and suffer a lot. I say don’t worry, I am there. Hearing this assurance, they joyfully go away. Don’t know why! Maybe it is like a sedative drug to them or the words of Sri Swamiji cools them down. I tell all these people, why are you suffering? Is this body ours?
I keep saying this to Chikkama, why do you worry? Some people are indebted to you, so they are helping you. Why do you worry? Even if you get indebted for the help taken, then also what is the big deal? Take birth and remove the debt. Some times she feels it is painful to take birth again and remove the debt. I agree, it is painful.
Nobody belongs to anyone here in this world. After leaving this body, each has his own individual journey. I don’t understand, why should one face so much suffering in the life span of 60-70 years? I keep saying don’t get involved into attachments and increase the strength of your bondage towards others. Try all the time to keep these bondages and these attachments at a distance. The more I say this, the more is your increase to the attachments and bondages. That is why now I don’t say these things. When you come to me with suffering, I say go and read Hanuman Chalisa. If I say to keep yourself away from attachments, you won’t listen to me.
You must listen to Sri Swamiji immediately. What do you think Sadguru is? You must listen, that is it. I have a devotee who is old, rich and has good intellect. She is fat, has trouble sitting and standing and gets tired easily. She used a lot of medicines, but no avail. I told her you must diet till you die, then all problems will get solved. She followed my order and now she is slim and came running to the ashrama like a deer and staying here for the past 10 days enjoying all the festivities.
The more you eat, the more the body is a hindrance to you. Eat once a day. You will surely not die of hunger. You should not fast completely. Then you will get different diseases. What I am saying, is eat for living and don’t live to eat. After telling me the commandments, Mother Jayalakshmi gave me this lesson of controlling of food.
I am not having a desire for eating anything. I can eat anything of my wish, but I have no desire. A feeling of aversion comes when I see food and fruits. But when I see other living beings like birds and cows eat them, then I like it. I feel that I am eating it. I feel that I am in them. I feel that my life is there in the cow, ox, dog, donkey. Your must keep your mind healthy to keep your body healthy.
Today all those who have witnessed the Divine marriage are lucky. This marriage seems to me like the marriage of Radha and Krishna, Sita and Rama, Shiva and Parvati, Padmavathy and Venkataramana and not Mata jayalakshmi and Narahari Teertha. I am seeing Shiva and mother Goddess Parvati. What we see there depends on what kind of vision you have in your mind. If envision silver idols of Mata Jayalaksmi and Narahari Teertha and say that you have contributed silver to the idols, then you see those forms only. You see what you perceive in mind. You must make the sankalpa that you are looking at Radha and Krishna or Mother Mary, then you will see them there. I see it like that only. They are giving me darshan in that way only. I never see them like Jayalakshmi Mata and Narahari Teertha, but I see them as Sita Rama, Radha Krishna. When I sing bhajans, I visualize them as those Deities and sing the bhajans. I think of Jayalakshmi Mata as Maha Lakshmi, Maha Saraswati and Maha Kali and sing the bhajans.
Devotee Agastya worships in this way only. He has by-hearted all the kavachas, unlike most of us. None of the Indians can recite the kavachas without seeing the text. His hometown, language arts were no hindrances to him. He doesn’t know Sanskrit. I am not praising him, but highlighting his practice. I am not praising anyone. I am scolding again and again. When I scold, Agastya knows that one sin is gone. One birth sign is gone. One pain is gone. When I praise, then Agastya is afraid. He tested this fact so many times. If I praise anyone, then by evening of that day, some suffering will be incurred. It is very beneficial to get scolded or insulted by Sri Swamiji. Sri Swamiji does not scold or insult all the time, but you don’t like it. Sometimes when I am happy, I praise you because you are my children. I have invested so much love in you, that if you don’t come to one function, I cry. You don’t know this fact because you have not invested the same love in me. Investing so much of love in you has brought me this karma. I am always consistent in my approach, unlike you who twist and turn. I don’t show it outside.
Enduring all the troubles, you come for my darshan, I ask how is your mother? You may feel I have come to have darshan of Sri Swamiji enduring so many troubles, but you are not asking about me? When wife and husband come, then I ask where your child is. When the entire family comes to darshan in queue then I don’t even look at them. I don’t even smile seeing them. You are surprised. Yesterday, you asked about mother, wife, child, but today you are not smiling at us. This is a secret. This is my wish. You don’t know it. When Agastya and Vani come to ashram for darshan, then I don’t talk for 3-4 days. When Agastya only comes for darshan, then I ask how Vani is. What can you do? Tell me what you will say now. You must follow Sri Swamiji sankalpa.
When children complain to their parents that Sri Swamiji is not at least looking at them with a smile, then the parents take a special interview and pray Sri Swamiji not to give interviews but at least please smile at them. I distribute pens to many devotees, but to some I purposely don’t give. I make them cry and scold them. We don’t know what is the inner meaning? So you also don’t ask the meaning, just follow. It is difficult to follow, but practice following Sri Swamiji. Why did God give so many difficulties to Prahalada for so many days? Why did He wait for so much time to solve his problems? Why did He not solve them at one instance? The translators have so many doubts. It is His wish. Prahalada’s karma should get finished. God waited till all the karma of Prahlada got exhausted and then saved him in one instance. Medicines should not be given until the karma is over. It will have adverse effects. The medicine will work when you are not able to bear the pain or suffering anymore. There are certain kinds of karma suffering. You don’t know them. Don’t believe that all the suffering will go at one instance or that Sri Swamiji will give you interview upon your arrival. Leave a word in His ear, that is more that sufficient. You want more because Sri Swamiji is accessible to you physically. My mother has taught me many things.
All those who have participated today in this Divine marriage by way of physical, mental or financial service, Mother Jayalakshmi will bless all of you. Mother Jayalakshmi has just blessed us by dropping a flower. All you missed watching it. She has blessed us all. Mother Jayalakshmi got married to Narasima Swamy twice. One time is Telugu tradition and another in Kannada tradition. So tomorrow we are giving mother Jayalakshmi a Divine bath.
At the marriage, a person gifted Mother with a Rs 16 worth sari. She asked the sari to be taken in procession in all the villages and then she accepted the sari. Why take a Rs 16 sari in such a big procession? The sari is not costly, but Her love towards Her devotees is immense. That person left the mortal body off late. He was 106 or 107 years old. She took all the gifts that were offered to Her will immense affection.
Sri Swamiji gifts clothes in form of prasadam. You must not complain about its low quality, price or that you already have it. Many people complain like that. Next life they will not have clothes. Some complain that Sri Swamiji gave what I don’t wear. If Sri Swamiji hears this, next time He will not give you any prasadam. Even if these thoughts come in your mind, then also result is the same. If you don’t like the prasadam, you can wear them first and on them you wrap your costly clothes. Whatever Sri Swamiji gives, it is prasadam. Just accept it. Use it in the way you like. It is prasadam and protection for you.
Some people wear the costly clothes worth lakhs and when I gift them a sari of 300 rupees, they compare. Bad people! Unfortunate people! Next life, they roam around without clothes. This is my curse! This curse is not for the old mistakes, but for the mistakes committed from today onwards. Next year I will pardon the mistakes committed in the previous year.
In Jayalakshmi puram, we have to redo the temple again. It is very old and doing Pujas is getting a bit difficult. All of you should have the interest of going there. So all of you contribute to it. It is difficult for one person to participate or view all the sevas at one time. Swamiji is now going for Devi Puja. You all don’t rush there. You complete this puja and then come there leisurely. When you are served food in plate will you eat all the items at once? Will anyone eat like that? Similarly you stay at one seva and enjoy that seva completely. In this way you are bound to miss other sevas but you at least will witness one seva completely.
