Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji during Ede tumbi haduvenu program at Nada Mantapa – October 11, 2014 – Mysore

Jaya Guru Datta

One more time this wonderful music program has come to Nada Mantapa, bringing young talented singers under the leadership of Balu. Today by the grace of Mother Bhuvaneswari we are all swimming in the ocean of music in the Nada Mantapa.

Earlier, old time singers suffered during concerts, having to stop midstream while they were soulfully singing, due to the time constraints imposed by the organizers. They would get extremely frustrated, then go home, close the door to their room, and sing to their heart’s content for hours, with no one to stop them. A singer must not be interrupted when he is deeply absorbed in his singing.

S.P. Balasubramaniam has told us how by giving a different interpretation to the lyrics of a song we can enjoy even a love song as a devotional song.

I am remembering Sri Viidyaranya Swami, Sri Akka Bukka Raya Empire, Sri Sankaracharya and all the great souls of Karnataka, as I listen to these wonderful poetic lyrics of the Kannada songs rendered so beautifully by these young singers. I wish them all a great future. The name Karnataka itself means pleasing to the ears.

In his last days Dr. Raj Kumar had wished to sing here at the Nada Mantapa. But somehow it did not happen. Today his wish to sing here was fulfilled by these children who have rendered a song sung by him.
