Before saying anything else, Swamiji is remembering the soldiers who are protecting our nation’s borders at the risk of their own lives. They do not show concern towards their own lives or about their families in their commitment to the protection of our nation and its borders.

We selfishly remain lighthearted, and watch television, play games, quarrel, and betray the trust of our nation and that of one another without any sense of patriotism, forgetting even the existence of our protectors who sacrifice their lives for us. Several hundreds of thousands of soldiers and military personnel work constantly to protect us enduring cold, rain, and gusts of wind, forgetting their parents, relatives, spouses, children, and all loved ones. They do not know when a bomb may blast, when a pistol or gun will be aimed at them and fired, or when someone’s hand or leg, or even life may be lost.

They are our proud citizens. They are our people. I have visited the border regions. From a place called Kala Dungar in Kutch, I have walked to the border area near Pakistan. There is Hanuman there. I went to have darshan of Lord Hanuman there. The place is filled with military personnel. Civilians have no permission to enter that region. But Swamiji, and his entourage went there. We were fortunate to have had the privilege of visiting that Hanuman Temple. Tears well up in the eyes when one listens to their account about the temple. Even before they complete the story, tears begin to stream from the eyes with sadness. Such people are protecting our country. We remain cool and carefree. We sleep fearlessly. Without any anxiety we go about our business. 18 lakh soldiers are protecting our borders. What pleases me is that all of them chant the Hanuman Chalisa daily. There are Christians and Muslims amongst them. There are people of other religions also. Every one of them believes in Lord Hanuman very strongly. That is why they have installed a temple for Hanuman there, right at the border.

Swamiji went to a place called Kutch in Gujarat. It is close to the Punjab’s border with Pakistan. In the past few days four or five of our soldiers have lost their lives for our sake. Let us observe silence, praying for peace for their souls.

Jai Hind. Vande Mataram.

Our country should remain at peace. Terrorists must not come near us. Terrorists should develop a decent mindset. They must get transformed. I have that faith that they will change. Since two days I am in grief because one person I personally know has lost his life. I know his parents. I pray to Lord Datta that he should find peace.

We must all develop patriotism. If there are two or three sons in a family, definitely at least one must join the army. Don’t think that they will all lose their lives. Good salaries are paid. After forty years, they will return home. The second half of their lives they can live happily and at peace. I ask that 25 per cent, you give up for the sake of your country. Some of Swamiji’s devotees, in USA, in Europe, in Tamil Nadu, in Uttar Pradesh, are enrolled in military academies. I feel very happy to see them. Some have joined the Navy. Some are in the Air Force. Some are in the Border Security. I pray to Lord Datta to grant them all good strength.

Patriotism itself is devotion. Remember that. If the foundation for our house is strong, then you can build any number of floors. If the foundation is not strong, you cannot do anything. All around our country’s borders there are many sweet-talking enemies. While speaking of peace, many of them create conflicts amidst us for their own personal profit. There are many such countries and leaders. I wish that all such leaders and citizens would develop good minds.

During the Sri Chakra Puja, I do not chant any mantras. I have already chanted many mantras. 25 years of my life I have done extensive Mantra Japa, Yajnas, and Yagas. If so, then why do I sit like a doll and perform these pujas? I do it for the wellbeing of all those devotees who have placed their faith in me, all those who have placed their faith in God, and their faith in Dharma. I do it for the soldiers who protect our borders, their families, and children. It is for this purpose that I perform the abhishekam. That itself is my Mantra. I have no other Mantra. I pray that poverty should disappear, that man should gain the strength to know God, and that he should preserve his human nature. Anyway people are born as humans. Let them not turn into beasts. Let them not become ignorant fools.

Let them not become lustful. It is the lusting after things which makes people desire this food or that, this thing or that, and leads to falsehood and deception. There are quarrels and conflict. There is no peace at home. Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are at loggerheads all the time. Two months after marriage, spouses seek divorce. There is no understanding between people. That is why poverty overtakes us. A husband and wife do not live in harmony and do harm to their children. They hurt their elders. They deceive themselves. Those who are in power are turning into devils with their hunger for power and are unconcerned about what is going on around them. They are only selfishly concerned about their betterment, their position, and their wealth. We used to have democracy here. It is no longer a democracy. Votes rule. Notes rule the votes. Who the true winner is, remains a problem to determine. No one knows whom to trust and whom not to trust. There is deception everywhere, in Swamis, in the spiritual field, in the business field, in every field there is cheating. While till now people were fearing me, now, I am fearing the world. I am afraid of what the world is creating, and I fear the agitation that is rampant amongst the people.

Every second the thinking changes. The mind thinks one thing in the morning, and by evening the thinking changes. Mind is spoiled. Who will begin to think bad things of another or when, cannot be predicted. When friendships will suddenly develop, cannot be predicted. What may be trusted, what should be suspected, which is salt, and which is camphor, remains unknown. What is truth? What is untruth?

The effect of Kali Yuga is very strong. It is not because it is Kali Yuga, but because of the evil that is happening, it has now become Kali Yuga. The fault lies not in the Yuga. One fears not the Kali Yuga, but the way things are taking shape today. We feel convinced now that this is indeed Kali Yuga. The Bhagavatam cautions us that in the Kali Yuga poison has to be consumed. Truth appears as untruth. Untruth passes off as Truth. Vyasa Bhagavan begins by saying that the world rejects truth and only believes in untruth.

Swamiji is now explaining the Bhagavatam on ETV. If you watch the series you will know. King Parikshit is told, “O King, this is not your doing. This is the effect of Kali. You are the great grandson of Sri Krishna. In spite of it, you have succumbed to this evil influence. That is how strong the influence of Kali Yuga is. People lose their sense of discretion. They will have no sense. They would not know what they are doing. They show no discrimination whether they are speaking with elders or youngsters. This is you curse. This is your Karma. Because Krishna is extremely fond of you, he is taking you back to himself within just seven days, a rishi tells King Parikshit.
The king did nothing wrong. The sage failed to respond to his call. That is why the king placed a dead snake around his neck, out of arrogance that he is the king. But in truth King Parikshit is not such an arrogant person. But Kali Yuga had started by then. When he left on his hunt, it was still the Dwapara Yuga. But by the time the king came to the hermitage of the sage, Kali Yuga had commenced. The king did not exercise caution. The moment he placed the gold crown upon his head without proper ritualistic cleansing, that very moment Kali grabbed him, the way poverty grabs an unfortunate soul. That is what has been said.

Did the king not know that he was placing a dead snake on the neck of the sage? Does Parikshit not know the greatness of sages? Does he not know the proper etiquette to follow in the presence of holy persons? He is from a lineage that stood as a model for others to follow. He belonged to the lineage of Sri Krishna. How could such a person resort to such a behavior? It is because of the influence of Kali Yuga. It exerts a strong influence on human beings.

Now the first leg of Kali Yuga is coming to an end. By the time the second leg begins, poverty and rage will increase further. In the third leg, people will become cannibalistic. We may be happy that we will not be around then. But our great grandchildren will be there. That is why we have to follow good traditions. Only then, our future generations will be born with good traits. Only then they will have the strength to endure.

You are all good devotees waiting since four years to have Swamiji’s darshan. Like the Chataka birds you have been waiting. Those birds are like swans. They wait for rain. They leave the first rain drop. The second rain drop they quickly consume before it falls to the ground. They wait for rain for years on end. That first raindrop, if it falls in the ocean, they say, it turns into a pearl. The second raindrop is a small pearl. The third raindrop is a black pearl. The insect inside waits for that first raindrop. It does not come out of the ocean depths, except to catch that first raindrop. If that raindrop falls in its mouth, it turns into a hundred pearls, it is said. They are considered the purest pearls. It is all very strange. In this Kali Yuga many such fantastic and illusory things will occur. This Yuga is like that. We keep hearing of all strange things.

Recently it was reported that an 800 year old mobile phone was found. How to understand that? We believe that mobile phones are a recent invention, about a decade old. How did the ancient people have access to this technology? They say that some aliens manufactured them here. They made them with clay. It looks like our Nokia phone. They have sent it for research and it was acknowledged that it is not of the modern times. Then how advanced was the technology of those times?

When you go on a pilgrimage, you only visit temples. But you should visit places like Dholavira, which is from the times of the Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa civilizations. You should go there. If you visit the museums there, you will discover about our civilization, and our old traditions. You will learn how our ancestors had lived. You only visit cinema theaters, sports stadiums, and hotels. Instead you should learn of our history and how our forefathers lived. Recently I visited the places near Harappa. They had an advanced drainage system. Our people are still searching for better ways. Whereas, they already had a wonderful system in place. How water is gathered, how the tanks are constructed, the architecture of their homes, the floor plans, and so forth, we must learn. What they did when it rained, or when enemies attacked, if you learn, you get goose bumps. In Tibet also, you see our Hindu traditions. We should pay a visit and see.

Our people have forgotten everything, of how our culture was, and how our people had lived. How did humans live during those days? What a high standard of living they had, at that time! We have deteriorated in our standards. We are living very ordinary lives. We are unaware of proper relationships. We do not know about love. Only till our work is done, we show concern. Afterwards, there is no love or affection. Once we have had our meal, we are not concerned about what happens to mother. Is mother a hired help? Mother cooks and serves us with love. But our love is of a different kind. It has no sentiment. It is selfish only to serve our own ends. We do not care about anything else. If we develop compassion, care, and human values, we will lead happy lives. I have been telling since a long time that this is our country and that you should listen to patriotic songs, and learn the history about those noble souls who have served our country. Learn about how the country was before Independence, and how it is, since it became independent. Find out how your grandparents and great grandparents lived. Our culture is ancient and vast. Their vision was broad. They had excellent foresight. They lived happy lives. They lived for 100-120 years. Now, at age 10 problems begin. Cancer occurs at age 20. People are born with Diabetes. Why is this happening?

Values have changed. If values are preserved, perhaps illnesses won’t strike us. Day by day our values and sentiments are changing. At least now, we must learn about ourselves, and our cultural values. People visit temples and towers, but without any desire for making any offerings. They just go, that is all. These days many people are visiting Manasarovar. It is just to declare that they have also been there, like earning a certificate. What have you gained by your visit? They only talk about losing their footwear or money. Other than that, does the place not have any significance? What about your careless attitude? You just keep blaming others. I went to a party and lost my eye glasses. So what? How can you put the blame on the party for your loss of spectacles? People only view the minor aspects. The real significance is not paid attention to. People make mountains out of molehills. What if someone falls off a bicycle? If a hand or leg gets fractured, then a big issue is made out of it. Always there are huge expectations. There is never any gratitude. For coming out alive, one does not even offer thanks. When there is an accident, just out of curiosity, people stop the car and look, instead of simply going on their way. Needless interference and needless involvement, people get into. These are all our faults, our mistakes. We have to correct ourselves.

People read the 108 names of God. In between there is conversation. A phone call comes. You send a message to someone. People feel as if without a phone, life is worthless, or some great mistake has been made. People are always distracted. Even while driving, people use the phone and destroy themselves. We all must learn many good lessons. When we went to Kala Dungar, there were no phone signals. It is all a military outpost. For five days we were happy without a television or a telephone. It was a different world altogether. If you get used to it, you will realize how wonderful it can be, without a TV or a phone. Anyway three meals a day are supplied. In some foreign countries, one day in a year, they switch off electricity deliberately. We also have that system. But we do not follow. We complain and blame the government if there is a power outage. There is no connection. Those who won the elections should come and take the blame. If there is too much salt in the homemade pickle, you blame the politicians. They have to come repair it. If the garbage is not picked up from the front of the house, you blame Chandra Babu. He has to come and clean it. The toilets have to be cleaned by Chandra Babu. If you are unable to get a ration card, Chandra Babu Naidu has to come and provide it for you. Why can’t we remove our own garbage? Why blame the government for everything? For one day, why can’t we take care of our own problems? Are they all gods? They are not even like some Swamis who claim to be divine. Should we not suffer our own Karma? Let us see the complainers do it. With a snap of the fingers can they produce 4 kg.s of tamarind, 5 kg.s of coffee powder, and milk? We place the complete blame on the government. But we do not even lift our little finger. We must also put in an effort. Our effort also should be there. For Svachcha Bharat, our input is also required. Just because someone has won an election, how can he do everything singlehandedly?

Yoga has been around for eons. Many Yugas. Patanjali’s Yoga. We do not even know how to breathe properly. We take short breaths like dogs. We do not inhale deeply. How can gas formation be prevented then? One must exhale fully. We make many small mistakes. Because of that diseases occur, both mental and physical. Society suffers as a result. Because of that the government suffers. It results in lack of peace and disturbance. You say, change the government, as if it is a child’s play. How much expense! Everything has been turned into a business. We must give up this attitude. Run a decent business. When you visit a temple, at least for those few minutes, remain pure at heart. Remain at peace. Be calm. Have a clean mind. No. Always quarrels and misunderstandings. Always anxieties and worries. Even at home, until bedtime, it is all full of problems. Some discontent. It has to go. Be satisfied. Be at peace. Don’t have the face of one who has consumed castor oil. Such people refuse to laugh or look pleasant, even if you smile at them. They behave as if the roof has come down. I feel like breaking their teeth. But the problem is, they don’t even have teeth. They never smile. Some deep sadness they suffer from. Some worry. As if they are going to live for 2000 years, they worry. They will exit very soon. But in the meantime, they make themselves miserable. Adjust with what there is. Control yourselves. Boldly face the challenges. If you learn this much, that is enough. Do not make others suffer because of you. Do not ridicule or criticize others. Do not cause inconvenience to others. Do not be a sadist. In life one must never give in to sadism.

Jaya Guru Datta

Speech in the evening – Eluru

Sri Maha Ganapataye Namaha
Sri Saraswatyai Namaha
Sripada Vallabha Narasimha Saraswati
Sri Guru Dattatreyaya Namaha

Your minds have become very unsteady. Hence, the enemies have grown in numbers. The enemies enter the bodies, some through the ears, and some through the eyes. The two are not synchronized and are sometimes in conflict. The ear hears something. The eye sees something else. With these two inputs, a certain electricity gets generated inside, with plus and minus values. It exerts an effect on the mind and gets expressed as speech. What comes out as speech becomes difficult to be put into action.

Life is comfortable for such people in whom the input from the ears and the input from the eyes are in harmony. Such people’s conduct, expressions, glances, and actions express themselves through their pure speech. Where all the five sense perceptions are working together, this happens. This is how they should all function together. This is the way God has made this Creation. Whereas, we obstruct this process and in society, in families, and in the spiritual field, while we do Sadhana.

All the five sense organs are very important. The microphone is there. Some wires are traveling through this. This transfers some energy. Then there are wires connecting to the amplifier, and the loud speakers. All these have to be properly connected. If there are loose connections, you hear disturbances. The sound engineer checks the connections and makes sure that the flow of energy is smooth and balanced. The stereo sounds have to be properly adjusted. If someone steps on the wires, or blocks the wires or twists them, the filament breaks and will lose its power to transmit the sounds. The journey of the sound gets disrupted. It loses strength and will lose its capacity to travel back efficiently. You are observing this right now with all this static noises.

Similarly, the nerves inside our bodies, there are 72,000 channels. If you open up the circuitry, you will see 40-50 important wires which need to be kept in control. When the wires are in control, then what is spoken reflects what is being thought. Sometimes in anger, words just slip out, without any control. Behavior becomes disorderly, eating habits go haywire, sleeping routine gets disrupted, and without discretion of the audience, whether they are elders or youngsters, communication occurs, developing misunderstandings. Marriages break up, children cause irritation, and diseases develop. Too much heat or cold will upset the system. To begin with, there are problems.

The balance that is there one day, will not remain lifelong. The fresh mind that is there in the morning will die before sundown. In the morning after good sleep, one feels calm and energetic. That is why elders say that upon waking up, one should pray and do some Yoga for good health and good spiritual strength. It is advice given to us since ancient times. Worship gives us mental discipline.

To eat breakfast and to have coffee without even brushing teeth, or eating stale bread out of the refrigerator are not good. Wake up with prayer. Each day, when you wake up, realize that your life is a gift from God. Even the worst atheist has no control on his life or longevity. No one can control the lifespan except Yogis. It is not possible for anyone else.

You must begin with these feelings: I am born again on this fresh, new day. I am seeing the sunrise, the sunset, the moon, the stars, my relatives, my children. I should do only good things today; thus one should resolve even while waking up. One should not wish for coffee even before opening the eyes. That is a great sin. It causes ill health. To go straight to the kitchen to eat something, like beasts, like pigs, like donkeys, like chicken, is the thing to do is what many people believe. We should not behave like animals. We should not degenerate to that level.
We must first express our thanks to God, to Sadguru. We must offer our prostrations. What if one should die during sleep itself? We cannot do anything about it. We hear so much of bad news that someone went to sleep and never woke up. Such people are actually very lucky. But once you have woken up, give thanks that you are given another day to live and pray that good deeds only should be performed by you to utilize this gift of life. That is the thought with which one should wake up. How can I help Sadguru in His mission, or how can I help support my family, or my parents who are in need of help? How can I study further so that I can in the future be of help to my spouse, or to my society? That is how you should be eager to make good use of your day. Instead, people wake up, grab the newspaper, sit in the easy chair, read from the first page to the last, including the advertisements, and waste their lives doing worthless things. Instead of reading scriptures like the Bhagavatam, or Guru Gita, or memorizing the Hanuman Chalisa, they gossip, and discuss useless political issues. You know only to criticize and blame others. You do not know how to do good things.

Many people complain that they cannot memorize the Hanuman Chalisa. You don’t have any concentration. But you remember the insults you received even a hundred years ago. You keep dwelling on them. Such things you remember. But not the Hanuman Chalisa lines. God has gifted this time to you. Use it well. Otherwise your life is wasted. Your nerve system, your five sense organs, your limbs, must all be kept in good order. You should have good health. Then you will have the power to remember, to contemplate, to churn spiritual topics internally, to listen attentively, but you simply while away your time, wandering about here and there. You criticize something or someone. You just go about, to waste your time and the time of others. What is the use of going home? No one is waiting for you there. So you visit one house after another, wasting time in gossip. You should not waste your time thus. Do not even waste one hour of your life. You must account for every hour of your life. Keep doing only worthwhile things. You simply imagine that others are talking about you. You spoil your thoughts and your mind unnecessarily.

Each one follows his own path, his own Karma. What is your Karma? What are your duties? You are the head of your household. How do you preserve that status? You must give it a thought. Then your path will open up before your eyes. If you close your eyes now, you can even see the stars and the moon in the sky. You will be able to travel everywhere by simply remaining in place and do astral travel. You can see Swamiji walking and talking in Mysuru. It is possible to keep your mind and body so powerful and radiant. Instead, you engage in all useless activities. You hear something. You feel bad. You talk some nonsense. You wastefully spend your money. Like this, you suffer from envy and jealousy and experience all kinds of mental anguish. At home, you create useless problems. You acquire and hoard so many things at home. Eventually, you won’t have place to live there. You will end up having to sleep on the street. This is how you invite death. This is the situation in many cluttered homes with too many possessions.

If you keep your home and your kitchen clean and tidy, then your body will remain clean and healthy. Your body is your home that travels with you. This is your city, God’s city. Every minute you must keep it clean. Fight for its cleanliness. Home and body are interrelated. If you keep your mind clean but enter a dirty home, the dirt will at once occupy your mind. Keep all the dishes washed in the kitchen. Once you remove the dirt from the home and the mind, there will be good health. But you have rotten vegetables and fruits and unwashed dishes that are stinking. Right next to it, you keep your altar. All these bad smells will go to your deity as Naivedyam.

Many people ask why Swamiji does not appear in their dreams. I tell them that your mind and your home are unclean. How can I come? Keep them clean and I will come. Only in purity you will see God. Where mind and speech are clean, Veda will reside there. In the body, the five sense organs have to be kept clean. Our friends and relatives will also become clean then.

These are all small things to attend to. But we must pay attention to these small details constantly. These are not huge Puranas. Only then you will succeed. For so long I have been telling everyone to chant the Hanuman Chalisa. But to this day, many people have not paid any attention to my advice. They know about it. But they are ignoring it. They are negligent. They reject the idea. They are lazy to even sit next to those who are chanting it. Are there any greater sinners than them? They are the worst sinners and the worst idiots. I declare that. Even after Swamiji tells them repeatedly, so many people are obstinately refusing to pay heed. They remain lazy and adamant in not following Swamiji’s words. Only if you follow the advice, you will succeed in life. So many people refuse to even just sit and listen to the Hanuman Chalisa, leave alone chanting it themselves. We wanted to do more recordings of individual chanting. In Eluru, recording has been done only minimally. Only 150 recording have been done. Are you not ashamed of yourselves? There are so many people here. Do at least a thousand or two. Beg. People can read the lines and chant. For the welfare of the world you must do Japa of Hanuman Chalisa. Future Brahma is Lord Hanuman.

From Kala Dungar I went to the Pakistan border. 18 lakhs of soldiers belonging to all different religions chant the Hanuman Chalisa daily. I visited a Hanuman Temple there. It is a very powerful and significant temple. In the Mysuru ashrama, parrots are saying Jaya Hanuman Jnana guna sagara. In Hawaii, a dog does not leave the television screen until the entire Hanuman Chalisa is completed. They have shown that dog on the Internet. If Swamiji is doing a bhajan session, it comes running to watch the program in its entirety. It is a famous dog. Belongs to a devotee of Swamiji.

You have become worse than those animals. Always obsessed with cooking, eating, and worldly worries. Always sorrow, always quarrels, courts, illnesses, crying, hospitals, arguments. Are you not ashamed? For ten minutes a day can you not remain calm to offer prayers to God? He has given us everything. He protects us. He gave us this life. You have grown up to this level. You are eating, wearing clothes, you have a shelter. But you are not grateful. You do not remember God. If you are offered payment for chanting the Hanuman Chalisa, perhaps you will chant it then. Are you devotees or are you atheists? I do not understand. Who are you? Atheists are better. You call yourselves devotees. But you ignore God altogether. At least from now onwards, make your lives worthwhile. Our court of judgment is not here. It is up there. There you will be asked. What will be your answer? You will be fried in hot oil if you list your problems of the world. With your subtle bodies you will be subjected to severe torment. What to make for the next meal is your major preoccupation. You hold meetings for those decisions. The interest you show in eating food why don’t you show in praying to God? Is He not the one who enables you to eat, and provides you with food? Otherwise, you will starve with not even dried leaves to have for food. If you have His grace, He will give you a grand ride on an elephant. Without His grace, you will not have legs to walk with. With His grace you will wear silken robes. Without His compassion, you will not even have a thread to wear. To earn God’s grace, do the things that your Guru tells you to do. Follow His advice. Protect your Dharma. Protect Truth. Gain Jnana.

Human birth is so precious and valuable. But you are living as if this human birth is the worst to have. This is a great boon to have this human birth. The gods do not wish for human birth because of the temptations for committing sin. But we have risen from lower births to this human birth. Hence, this opportunity should not be wasted. This is a gift. You are devotees. I have spoken a lot. I have reminded you of all these several times. You keep forgetting and keep falling into delusion over and over again. That is why we keep repeating God’s names. Chant the Hanuman Chalisa. Do Purnaphala deeksha. Do butter decoration for the Lord. Worship Him with betel leaves. Pray to Lord Hanuman with determination and devotion. If you do so, you will certainly succeed.

Tvamasmin karyaniryoge pramanam harisattama
Hanuman yatnamasthaya dukha kshaya karobhava

This tour was not planned. I wanted to see you all at least for a day. When I landed in Vijayawada, the doctor advised me to go back for health reasons. There is too much dust here. Your voice will be affected since You have so many recordings to do, he said. But I rejected his advice and came. All of you come to Mysuru for Sivaratri.
No litter. NO liquor.
