Happy Ugadi

Happy New year

Ugadi wishes to everyone today. Sri Damodar Sharma recited the highlights of the Almanac for this year.

[Interruption to live broadcast]

They are becoming big scientists and good citizens. The tremendous technology service they are doing for Swamiji is amazing. They are doing it per Swamiji’s wishes. We can sit at home and see Swamiji. We can see Swamiji every week now. In the future, we will see Swamiji every day for one hour giving Darshan with a mudra. Wherever we are, at the stipulated time, if we have the pattern (associated with the app) with us and the app on our phone, we can have Darshan of Swamiji. We can have Darshan of the Mudra of the Day. That will be very beneficial for us in all ways. Swamiji therefore supported the creation of this app called Divine Darshan.

It is a wonderful hi-tech app. It (the technology) all starts here. It all started today. We started it. It is unseen and unheard of. Many people are enthusiastic about it. They are curious and surprised at what we have done. Everyone that has a smart phone should download it. Swamiji will be in your pocket. We are even setting up a time each day in the app for Darshan of Swamiji. That is very good for us, is it not? You can have Darshan of the Mudra of the day and benefit from it. No need to have a conversation with Swamiji. At the right time, you can have Darshan of Swamiji with the mudra. Swamiji decided that 7am in the morning, in your time zone would be the time. People are very surprised (at these developments).

Second, SGS Posts. I am very happy that the child called SGS Posts is a year old today. 32k people even in remote villages are now seeing the posts. They are listening to Swamiji’s Bhagavatam on the app. Even old people are viewing the posts. In Peethapuram, devotees bought a phone, learned how to use the phone right then and there and got SGS Posts installed. They put the young generation to shame. They used to resist using smart phones, but now they realized they could use it for all the good posts and discourses on the phone. Swamiji was himself surprised. You know there are many villagers there. By the morning of Swamiji’s visit, about 40 people bought the phone. They did not even know how to hold the phone. They had some money and used it for this. They wanted SGS Posts and wanted to listen to Bhagavatam. Our kids had to sit them down and train them on basic operations of the phone – What is a phone? How to turn it off and on etc. I asked the kids to train them. They did not know what to do when the phone rang. They would run away when they would hear the phone ring. The kids had them repeatedly go through the motions of turning the phone on and off so they would know how to use the phone. They wanted Swamiji’s SGS Posts. Now, they are all seeing the messages and benefiting from it. The messages are in all homes, in all six languages. SGS Posts shows exactly the messages they need that day. Today is the birthday of SGS Posts.

Many may have heard the new Ugadi song on TV today at 6am. Some of you may not have heard it since you lined up here for Darshan since early morning. How many heard it, raise your hand? Many have not heard. It was broadcast on all TV channels. We will sing Ugadi song and one more song.

Bhajans:

Pahi Pahi Gajanana
Ravoyi Ravoyi O Ugadi Swagatam
Hevalambi Neeku Swagatam

Purport of the Bhajan:
Please help us forget bitter memories. Sometimes, when we have some bad experience in life, we think about it till we die. That is very wrong. So, in Hevalambi year (this lunar new year), we pray to God to help us forget the bitter memories. We should practice forgetting bad experiences the same day. We forget the good experience. We should recollect the good experiences over and over again. We should rejoice and sing happily as if they happened today. Please send us good news quickly. May there be peace and joy in all directions.

Like the Rosary Pea (Guruvinda ginja in Telugu, that is metaphorically said to be unaware of its black underside), we are in utter lack of truth. We talk like we know everything. We are forgetting the truth of our existence (Tattva). We should keep remembering Tattva. There is no fear in the hearts of people of committing Adharma. Please fill our hearts completely with Charity, Dharma and Compassion. Hevalambi, we welcome you. Hevilambi, we welcome you.

May we learn the truth of Bhagavatam. Let me walk the path of the self-realized. Let me be untouched by the auspicious and inauspicious. Let Guru Datta’s mantra be like my heart beat. When my heart beats, I should hear the mantra “Dram Datta”, “Dram Datta”. Let everyone attain the joy of Sachchidananda.

We are praying to Lord of the year Hevalambi. We need to continue on this journey with this Lord for the next 365 days. We should be friendly with him 365 days. We should never be angry or annoyed with him. If we are ever angry, he (the year) will show us (his fury) the next day. So, come what may, good or bad, we welcome the year. So, we should never be angry.

Jaya Guru Datta
