Today is a very very auspicious day. We are at the beginning of the auspicious Uttarayana punya kala.
This festival represents plentiful harvest. Sri Pattabhi Ram rendered a wonderful Nada seva. He rendered two
wonderful swara devata kirtanas. Nishada. kirtana reminds us of upanishad. Upanishad consists of three
words Upa, Ni, shat. In this, Ni, shat together becomes Upanishad, All these kirtanas makes our mind
concentrate on the holy feet of Parameshwari. This made our Sankranti all the more wonderful. Swamiji is
the first one to make swara akshara kirtanas. Sankranthi means moving to the next step. Next step to where ? Into the path shown by Sadguru. In the word Sankranthi, Sam means ‘Some – a little’ in English. But in Sanskrit, Sam means vast – huge.
In Devi Bhagavatam, Narada Garva Bhangam – Vanquishing Narada is a wonderful episode. A person, however great he is, will not talk about their origin. However, they speak great of themselves. Sage Narada and Vyasa are the only ones who spoke openly about their origin. Narada declared himself as Dasi Putra. With mind always on God and with the initiation by Sadguru during Chaturmasya, he became a great sage. There is no Nada without Narada. The 60 Telugu years Prabhava, Vibhava etc came from him. In yesterday’s story, such great Narada became Naradamma. The bhajan system was introduced by Narada. Sapta Swaras came from him. His story is humourously shown in movies. We should learn about his personality. Dont make fun of him. No humour. Dont watch such movies. His story tells us how careful we should be of ego. Many praised him that he goes directly to Vishnu. When he got His darshan, he made fun of Goddess
Lakshmi out of ego. Lord Vishnu wanted to eradicate it. Even in our homes, children make fun of elders. That is very bad. Help them. How much ever busy Swamiji is, He always asks about the well being of His devotees. He does so to teach us humanity. To establish this system, Swamiji explained Narada story.
Sukanya story explains us about commitment which is very important. We find many such dattadevotees. Air filled with Purana, Smriti spreads to the entire world. In Sakambari story, Swamiji revealed a hidden secret of Sakambari and Sakaambari. This reminds me of Vishwambhara and Vishwaambhara Datta. One means Datta wore the entire world as His clothes and the other means Sarva Vyapi – Omnipresent. The vegetables that we eat is Sakambari. We celebrate festivals when we gain something. For Sankranthi, wealth, harvest and vegetables come home. We celebrate Sankranthi for prosperity and peace of nature. Vijayawada is very chill. It is like Mysore for the first time. May this be forever. May Sadguru’s grace bless us all today on this Sankranthi.
