How to erase ego completely?
Question : During Swamiji’s service, we feel convinced we are not the doers, and that things get done solely by Swamiji’s intention, and His energy. In secular life, frequently it is evident that the same is true. But, the conviction does not endure. How to maintain it all the time?
Answer: A level has been attained. Be happy. In worldly life, if 90% of the time you try to overcome the ego, it is good. But taking credit for the success, indicates ego. Be happy that Sadguru has helped. Try to maintain the conviction.
For ego to go, even the thought, “I am not doing; He is doing,” must go. In “I am not doing,” the ‘I’ remains. That is why ego is not leaving. There is no ‘I’. Only He is. Then, why say, “He is doing it, I am not.” It means that in some corner lurks the feeling I am doing it.
Why write the statement on the blackboard, and keep erasing it? Why feel bad that after writing, you are able to erase it only sometimes? If you accept that He alone exists, ego will vanish. To achieve 100% success, this is the way. Even the thought, “I am He”, is harmful. Just believe that He is everything. That is the best method.
