Today, Guru Purnima, is a very pious and an important day for all of us. We witnessed Guru Parampara puja today with a feeling that our Sadgurudeva, along with Guru Parampara is residing in our own heart. Our lives are blessed. We all received the blessings of our Gurus.

I’m happy that this year Chaturmasya is being performed in Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad). Since the beginning of Chaturmasya deekshas, several times there were ‘Adhika Masas’. (Adhika masa is an additional month that appears in the Hindu Lunar calendar in which, there would be 13 months instead of the usual 12 months). This happened thrice so far. The year Sanyasa Deeksha was taken, we had Adhika Masam, one more time perhaps during 2008 or 2009. Both happened in Mysore. Once we spoke about Guru Gita and the other time we spoke about Sampoorna Ramayana in both Kannada & Telugu. In the past 12 years, during Chaturmasya months, this is the third time having adhika masa and performing this outside of Mysore, is first time in Bhagyanagar. It is said that Adhika Masam gives Adhika Phalam – additional benefit. It is also called as Purushottama Masam. Since this is the 12th year of Chaturmasya, devotees are calling it as Pushkara Chaturmasya. There is nothing called Pushkara Chaturmasya, but since we all are used to a number and like to have a number, we may call it as Pushkara Chaturmasya.

Last evening, we falicitated all the volunteers who rendered their services during the recent Godavari Pushkara. Perhaps, this is the beginning of this Pushkara Chaturmasya. When devotees prayed Pujya Swamiji for this year’s Chaturmasya to be conducted at Bhagyanagaram, Appaji agreed for it. The first puja in chaturmasya in an important puja of Guru Purnima or Vyasa Purnima. Guru Parampara – lineage of Guru is remembered and worshipped in this. Worshipping and remembering the path shown by Sadguru, remembering the words of knowledge is important here. These words becomes the mantras of this puja.

Performing Guru Puja is our fortune. Till now, you all have seen the puja at length. Actually, this is not the complete one. There is two more hours puja left. Only then, it is completed. Some people wished to have a second part for this puja. Second part Swaha Karishye – it would be nice if the second part is performed tomorrow, they thought. Because they cannot sit for long. It is late already. Annaprasadam is arranged for everyone. You can take prasadam after having anna prasadam. I told them that I was ready by 8 am itself. But I was asked to start at 10 am since no devotees came. Ashram is far from the city and it would take some time for people to come. So I waited for them. Since we started late, it is completed late. But there should not be any shortfall in the puja or the seva that we do. Performing Puja as second part is not a right practice. When we pray God, and if He says that He will fulfill our wishes in part two, do we accept that ? Likewise, this Guru Parampara puja has to be performed today itself. This is an ancient practice and is auspicious for us. It gives us good health and wealth along with knowledge which we do not even know how to seek. Such an auspicious puja is this Guru puja on this Guru Purnima.

Many people question themselves as to why they were born. Why this birth ? For fulfillment. If you were born, that means that you should cross it. So both praise and abuse of this birth & body is wrong. Be neutral. You got this birth. Make use of it. Only then you will get salvation. What do you mean by making use of it ? This means that, who ever is in the path of seva and dharma are fulfilled souls. Guru Purnima gives this message. Hence, on this Guru Purnima day, let us all remember all the Gurus and our Sadgurudeva, and Sri Guru, Parama Guru, Parameshti Guru, Paratpara Guru and Karana Guru also called as Guru Panchakam, and all other Brahma Vidya Sampradayaka Gurus whom we might have ignored or forgotten, all of them were remembered as a procedure of this puja. Such a puja in length we have performed and you all have witnessed it with attention.

From today, Chaturmasya begins. Do good seva during this chaturmasya. May you all have the blessings of Dattatreya and Sadguru. Now, we continue with the remaining part of the puja and then prasadam will be given to all. Who ever is hungry, who ever are not healthy may go and take anna prasadam and can come back here. Then we will continue with the next program. Some people have come from Bangalore & Chennai also.

Guru Purnima blessings to all. May the light of Guru shine in all.

Jaya Guru Datta ! Sri Guru Datta ! Jai bolo Sadgurunatha Maharaj ki Jai ! Dattatreya Guru murti ki Jai !
