When you meditate closing the eyes, you hear sounds you should not hear. Mind runs here and there. Mind should be still. You find yourself talking in your mind. It is not silence. Many want to open the eyes. They get impatient. Focus on your nose tip. No one is seen anymore, if you practice it properly. Concentrate on your breath. Practice it daily for a few months. You do not see results overnight.
We are Karma Jeevis. Not only this life. Past lives also are recorded. Not possible to clear the recorded information. Such a powerful recording equipment exists inside. So many births over many Yugas. Past Janmas. Thoughts come unasked because of all that stored information. Just neglect. All illusions. Control illusions.
Meditation and breathing exercises are good for getting relief from chronic ailments. Listen to the breath sound. Be alert during meditation. Sleep is not meditation. Daytime sleep is not good. Only if sick, you may sleep, even that, only for one hour. Night time you get rest. Control your mind and activities. Create your own busy schedule. Tell yourself to spend all idle moments in chanting either the Aditya hridayam or the Sri Vishnu Sahasranama, or some prayer. I create occupations like that.
Eating and drinking frequently, and at random times is a bad disease. Mind wants to watch movies, pictures or television. Many cannot live without such distractions and diversions. Control such activities. Control the temptation for tasty food. If you do, then memory power increases. Control your eating habits. Place tasty food on your plate but refrain from eating it. Practice self-control like that.
Many people chant the Hanuman Chalisa. But do not memorize it. Memory is weak because of too much eating, and watching movies. Laziness is too much. Postponing things which need to be done right away. Finish required tasks and home work as and when. If you wait to water the plants and postpone, they will die. Immediately attend to your duties. Keep busy and stay happy. Inner smiling should be practiced. Not grinning publicly. If you do that, others will misunderstand. Jokes are often told by Swamiji that is why, to instill in you a sense of humor. Do not lose hope or courage.
Easy method is to concentrate on the sound of breath – Soham. Ajapa japa. All is I. Get that feeling. At bed time. No name. No mantra. Only focus on the breathing sound Soham. Heartbeat also will be heard if you concentrate. It relaxes overall. Experiment. Then you will understand.
One week left of Swamiji’s stay in the Dallas area. This grandeur will be there for one more week. Of course, activities and grand events will still occur. Many came applying for leave from jobs. Good for you.

Saturday morning is the Rakhi festival. Do not buy Rakhis outside. Only purchase from the bookstore to tie on Swamiji. In Mysore they tie everywhere on Swamiji’s body. Thousands.
Buy extra to take home also to give to others. Get them early before the stock runs out.
