521. Ājñā-cakrābja nilayā
Meaning – Ajna chakra is Her residence.
Ajna chakra is located at the position of the third eye i.e. between the eyebrows. The yogi who reaches the Ajna chakra stays at this point for some time and meditates. Thereafter only after he obtains clear/ explicit permission from his Guru and from the Supreme Mother he is eligible to continue his journey to the Sahasrara.
522. Śukla-varṇā
Meaning – She is of white complexioned akin to the moon.
523. ṣaḍānanā
Meaning – She has 6 faces.
At this Ajna Chakra the Mother Goddess manifests as Lord Subrahmanya swami (Kumara Swamy or Skanda) and is Kaumari shakti. Lord Subrahmanya has 6 faces. A close relation exists between yoga, snake (naaga), birth of progeny, music (naada) and Subrahmanya Swamy. To be blessed with progeny His blessings are needed. Without His Ajna (order), none can proceed on this path of Yoga. The being will not be able to take even a single step in the yogic path without His permission. His 6 heads represent the 6 senses (indriyas) i.e. the 5 indriyas (senses) plus the mind. He is ṣaḍānanā.
524. Majjā-saṁsthā
Meaning – She exists in the form of the bone marrow (majja). She fills the foetus with this bone-marrow (majja).
Bone marrow is the tissue that binds the bones and is a pre-requisite for the movement of bones not only in the foetus, but in all beings She blesses the beings with this bone marrow and strengthens them.
525. Hamsavatī-mukhya śakti-samanvitā
Meaning – At the Ajna chakra She is accompanied by two deities Hamsavati and Kshmāvati (also known as mukhya shakti).
Ajna Chakra is a two- petalled lotus and these two petals represent these deities.
Hamsavati is the life energy (prana shakti). Kshamā stands for the traits of forbearance (patience) and forgiveness. These are primary and essential traits and hence have been aptly addressed as mukhya shakti (primary energies).
The yogi who reaches this Ajna Chakra should be able to easily forgive and forbear every situation. To be able to adapt and adjust to any given situation and to transform it favourably is the trait of a yogi. In forbearance and tolerance the yogi should be at par with Mother Earth. The Divine Mother blesses him with these traits at this stage.
526. Haridrānnaika-rasikā
Meaning – She loves the offering of rice mixed with turmeric.
Consumption of turmeric drives away all the germs from the body and thus cleanses it. Applying a pinch of turmeric to the body while bathing is considered healthy for it washes away all the germs from the skin. Added to it, the skin gets a rare kind of glow.
527. Hākinī rūpa-dhāriṇī
Meaning – At the Ajna chakra, She takes on the name Hākinī.
Her seed letter is Ha. She is also known as Goddess Siddha-mātā (refer nama 473).

528. Sahasradala-padmasthā
Meaning – She is seated within the thousand-petalled lotus (Sahasrara).
The term ‘thousand’ is used to define infinity. This louts at the Sahasrara has infinite petals. Infinity corresponds to a state that is over and above the 6 Chakras and is over and above all forms of limitations. This depicts a fully bloomed state.
This Chakra corresponds to the seventh month of pregnancy. The limbs are totally formed in the foetus and it begins to kick. The foetus is blessed with life (sampoorna jeeva) at this stage. The capacity to think (ālochana shakti) develops in the foetus.
Up to this stage the Supreme Mother stays with the foetus, protects and supplies all the materials needed for its nourishment and growth. The most critical body parts would have been developed. Hereafter the baby develops the capacity to grow independently. Up to now the responsibility that belonged to the Supreme Mother now gets transferred to the physical mother who has to raise the child. As per our tradition this is the month when the expecting mother returns to her mother’s house for delivery.
To bless the mother with the successful completion of this responsibility the Supreme Mother has blessed all women with soft/gentle nature (mrdu swabhaava). With its aid mothers are able to sustain the pressures of motherhood and sail through it successfully.
529. Sarva-varṇopa-śobhitā
Meaning – She is glowing resplendently and is shining with all colours (sarva varna) without any limitations.
530. Sarvāyudha-dharā
Meaning – The Divine Mother is seated in the Sahasrara Chakra equipped with every kind of weapon.
Weapons symbolize protection to the devotee. They are the divine energies. She thus wears upon Her body every form of weapon (energy) that is essential for protection of the devotee. She appears calm and gentle.
