641. Dhyāna-gamyā
Meaning – She can be attained through Dhyana (contemplation).
Earlier in the Lalita Sahasranama through the names Bhakti-gamyā (nama 119), Bhakti-vaśyā (nama 120), antar yaaga samārādhya, the various methods of attaining Her were detailed. Now yet another method of reaching Her i.e. dhyana as an important tool for sadhana is being taught.
Bhagavad Gita in its beginning verse states –
yam brahma varunendra Rudra marutah stunvanti divyaih stavair
vedaih sānga-pada-kramopanishadair gāyanti yam sāma-gāh
dhyāna vasthita-tad-gatena manasā pasyanti yam yogino
yasyāntam na viduh surāsura-ganā devāya tasmai namah
Meaning – Only those who are able to fix their mind on the Absolute through the process of ‘dhyana’ are able to see Him.
Dhyana is one of the important steps in ashtānga yoga (8 fold process of Yoga). The first 5 steps of the Ashtānga Yoga are external compliances and rituals that concern the physical body. The last 3 i.e. Dhārana,Dhyāna and Samādhi are inner practices (antar yāga). Fixing the mind firmly without giving it a scope to move is dhārana. Mind is fixed at the navel, heart or at the centre of the eyebrows (brukuti). Only then can the mind contemplate on that Absolute. Thoughts that pertain only to this Absolute now exist in the mind. This stage is Dhyana. The Supreme Parabrahma can be reached through such Dhyana.
642. Aparicchedyā
Meaning – She is indivisible and immeasurable.
She cannot be measured through the factors of time and space. She can be seen only during dhyana. At that time She appears both as a microcosm and macrocosm.
643. Jñānadā
Meaning – She bestows divine knowledge.
644. Jñāna-vigrahā
Meaning – Knowledge (Jnana) is her form.
645. Sarva-vedānta-saṁvedyā
Meaning – She is the essence of all the Upanishads.
Upanishads are known as Vedanta. She can be known through the understanding of the Upanishads.
States Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita –
Vedaischa sarvaii, rahameva Vedhyo, Vedanthakruth veda vidheva chaham.
Meaning – All the Vedas speak about Me, I am the one who has created the Vedanta and I am the one who knows about them.
646. Satyānanda-svarūpiṇī
Meaning – To those who try to seek Her through Vedanta, She appears as a form of truth and bliss (satya+ananda).
It can also be interpreted to say that both Satya (truth) and Ananda (bliss) are Her forms.
Satyananda is that everlasting bliss that never diminishes.
647. Lopāmudrārcitā
Meaning – Lopamudra Devi, the wife of Maharishi Agastya, worshipped Her.
Lopamudra Devi has a great prominence in Srividya upasana.
648. Līlā-klṛpta-brahmāṇḍa-maṇḍalā
Meaning – This entire universe is Her playful creation.
649. Adṛśyā
Meaning – She is invisible to the eyes.
She can be seen only with the yogic eye. Dhyana and yoga are the only means to have Her vision.
Vedas declare – Yad drshyam tan nashyam
Meaning – All that is visible (seen) is destructible.
Everything has to get absorbed one day into that infinite. Such a state is called Pralaya. Pralaya is not destruction but absorption; going back to the state from which it originated. At this point, the Lord is moving from the waking (jaagrat) state to Tureeya state (4th stage).
650. Drśyarahitā
Meaning – There is nothing that She seeks to ‘see’ as She is the triad of the seer, seeing and seen.
