691. Caturaṅga-baleśvarī
Meaning – She is the force that protects all the four divisions of the army.
Armies of kings composed of four divisions (chaturanga) such as cavalry of elephants, horses, chariots and foot soldiers.
Mahavishnu has taken on 4 forms (chaturanga) for the sustenance of this entire creation. They are Vasudeva, Pradyumna, Aniruddha and Sankarshana. All of these are Her forms. These names were in existence long before Krishna’s period.
Similarly, the Supreme Brahma has split into 4 aspects for the transmission of Jnana to the beings viz. Veda-purusha, Chandha-purusha, Shareera-purusha and Maha-purusha.
Further mantra upasana has 4 classifications- Pada (akshara or alphabets), beeja (seed leeters or beejakshara), sankhyaa and rekha (yantra).
As She is the force behind all these various factors, She is Chaturanga baleshwari.
692. Sāmrājya-dāyinī
Meaning – She bestows the kingship and kingdom.
This is the kingdom of the mind. She grants stability/ firmness of mind.
693. Satyasandhā
Meaning – Her resolves all are woven around truth (satya); She is bound by truth.
‘Sandhā’ means ‘to unite the mind’. It is only truth that can unite the mind and bless us with Her vision. Sandhā also means to completely focus and fix the mind at one point. Just as with acute precision and concentration, the arrow is shot to hit the goal, the guru mantra is to be used as the arrow that is to be shot to dig out the untold truths about Paramatma. Towards this, complete concentration and adherence to the truth are the links.
694. Sāgara-mekhalā
Meaning – Oceans that protect the earth are Her retained by Her as Her waist band.
When seen from a satellite, the oceans appear like bands surrounding the earth.
695. Deekshitā
Meaning – Deekshita is She who has taken an uncompromising vow or a solemn promise. Protection of Her devotees is Her main vow.
Those who undertake and accomplish tough yagnas are generally conferred with the title ‘Deekshita’ Or ‘Deekshit’. When a person takes on a deeksha, for example Datta Deeksha, he/ she promises to abide by the prescribed rules and regulations relating to that practice. Fasting, sleeping on a mat during that period all symbolize adherence to that vow. Students should take vidya deeksha; a promise that during their entire period of studies their mind will not deviate towards matters other than their studies.
As a composite form of all the yagnas She is Deekshita.
696. Daitya-śamanī
Meaning – She destroys all evil forces, evil thoughts and evil feelings which are demons (daitya).
697. Sarva-loka-vaśankari
Meaning – She holds all the worlds (sarva-loka) under Her sway.
698. Sarvārtha-dātrī
Meaning – She who fulfils every desires of her devotees is Sarvārtha-dātrī.
She fulfils the desires of not just the beings on this earth (bhu loka) but of beings in all the planes of existence (lokas). The desires of the being could range anywhere from Dharma to Artha, Kaama or Moksha. According to what the being seeks, She fulfils.
699. Sāvitrī
Meaning – She is the cause for the illumination of this Sun and hence is known as Savitri.
Savitru is the Sun God. Savitri is the energy associated with him.
700. Saccidānanda-rūpiṇī
Meaning – She is the form of Sacchidānanda.
Sacchidānanda refers to the 3 aspects of Parabrahma i.e. sat, chit and ananda. Sat stands for the truth that is eternal; Chit is Jnana (supreme knowledge) or consciousness; Ananda is the state of eternal, supreme bliss.
She blesses those who undertake Savitri upasana with this state of Sacchidānanda. They can visualize her in this form.
With this the 7th avarana is complete and the journey into the 8th avarana begins. The names 701 (Deśa-kālā-paricchinnā) to 727 (Śiva-jñāna-pradāyinī) initiate us into the Saraswati vidya.
