Lalita Sahasranama meanings per name
791. Satyajñānānanda rūpā
Meaning – Truth (satya), knowledge/consciousness (Jnana) and bliss (roopa) are Her forms.
She is Sacchidananda (sat+ chit+ ananda i.e. truth, knowledge, bliss).
792. Sāmarasya- parāyaṇā
Meaning – She is pleased when her devotees exhibit traits of understanding and harmony with respect to other people in society.
Shiva and Shakti share such a harmonious relationship that is inseparable and intertwined. Shakti is Shiva and Shiva alone is Shakti. There is no difference between them.
793. Kapardinī
Meaning – She is the wife (energy) of that Lord Kapardi (Shiva) who holds Ganga in his matted locks (jatā).
The force of the River Ganga descending from heaven on to earth was such that it would have washed away the entire earth. Lord Shiva captured the entire flow in his matted golden locks and saved the earth. With this He was known as Kapardi. His golden locks appear like the fierce glowing trident and also like the soft tender flowers. As His energy, the Divine Mother is known as Kapardini.
794. Kalāmālā
Meaning – She wears the various kalās (arts, phases) as a garland around Her neck.
Kalās are of various types. There are the 16 kalas, 64 arts (kalas), the 96 kalas, the kalas (aspects) pertaining to the Sun, moon, agni, vidya and so on. The tejas that controls the glow/fire in the Sun and agni is the kala.
795. Kāmadhuk
Meaning – She is Kamadhenu- the wish-fulfilling cow. She fulfills every desire of Her devotees.
796. Kāmarūpiṇī
Meaning – Kāmarūpiṇī means She can assume any form as per Her will.
All the various deities/ Gods are Her forms that She has taken on as per Her will. She has also manifested in the form of this universe.
The ability to take on a form per will exists in both Gods as well as in demons. For example Demoness Surpanakha in Ramayana could take on a form per will. However the form taken on by the demons is born out of desires and is short lived. Krishna too took on different forms to appease the needs of the various devotees. The form that he took depended not upon His desire (need) but was based on the desires of the devotees.
797. Kalānidhiḥ
Meaning – She is a treasure house (nidhi) of all kalas (arts).
798. Kāvyakalā
Meaning – She is truly worthy of praise.
799. Rasajñā
Meaning – She is the finest amongst all the essences (rasa, flavour). Rasa is Her form.
Every good thought that arises in the mind of the devotee is Her Rasa.
800. Rasa-śevadhiḥ
Meaning – She is an never-ending ocean of bliss, which is the most-supreme rasa.
Devotees should seek to soak in this bliss.
With this, Lalita Sahasranama now takes us into the 9the avarana (enclosure). This is the final and most important avarana. Thereafter it is pure merger into the Divine Mother.
