Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji at Preston Manor school auditorium, Wembley – August 2, 2004 – London

Sadguru’s language is silence. You all need Shaktipata. Otherwise this human life is a great waste. Thus Sadguru Sambhashana, Darshana and Drishti Darshana are very important. This all is also Shaktipata. Sage Vasishtha gave such Shaktipata to Rama, Lakshmmana, Bharata and Shatrughna. While teaching Vedas, he gave them Shaktipata.
Ramayana is the beloved epic not only in India but in several other countries too. Tulasi Ramayana, Kamba Ramayana, Potana Ramayana and other several small Ramayanas are very popular. In Telugu Potana’s Bhagavatha is also famous. Thus the original epic has inspired countless generations of scholars to interpret and offer their insight in to the great epic. Ramayana tells us how to live. How to raise children; how to respect parents, how the rulers have to affectionately rule the country. All these great teachings are essential even today. Everyone’s life is a mini Ramayana. It has all the chapters of Ramayana but on a very small scale. Unlike in Ramayana, Our love is egoistic and self centered. But in Ramayana – it was love for Dharma. That is called as Pure LOVE. That is why we should read and imbibe the energy of Ramayana. Look at Valmiki. He was a cruel person in his early life. He was a man of mistakes. To Such Valmiki, Narada gave the Rama Mantra. But at such stage, Valmiki had no energy to chant the name of Rama. So, Narada taught him an easier way to chant it.
But Valmiki was a determined man. His determined efforts in penance ensured that Narada’s boon did not go waste. So one day Valmiki asked who is the greatest person to ever live with all great attributes? Narada replied that the only such person is the son of Dasharatha, Rama. Valmiki inquired about the story of Rama. Then started the narration from Narada, outlining the story of Rama. This is the seed of Ramayana. This 100 Shlokas is now given to you by Sri Swamiji as Shata Shloki Ramayana. It is also said that Valmiki is the first poet to have invented the method of poetry by writing verses.
Ramayana is no ordinary story. It is the real life today. You have to inquire in to your life about its aims and duties. Many have inquired but are lost in the answers they have discovered. But you need to patiently go through the answers you find and then you will understand everything. You will not have to run from Gurus to astrologers to psychics etc., In need 40 days to properly speak on this Shata Shloki Ramayana. I urge you all to study Ramayana. Just read 2 or 3 pages a day. It is a guide to your day-to-day living.
Ramayana has great inner meaning for spiritual Sadhaks. Each character and each action has special meaning. Sundara Kaanda is full of great Mantras. Listening from the mouth of Sadguru brings immeasurable benefits. It prepares to face the life, society, family and most importantly – Yourself. Because you are the one who creates doubts in life. I call it as SAMSHAYA PISHAACHI. Ghost doubts. You reach a point wherein your are so lost that you don’t know what is a ghost doubt and what is real doubt. Ramayana helps you to understand your true self. Just a mere one time glance will not suffice. As you read it again and again, you get more and more energy, insight and better understanding of its message and teachings.
