Sri Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji – speech on Day 5 of Navaratri Celebrations – October 12, 2010 – Mysore
Jaya Guru Datta. Sri H V Prasad, the Executive Secretary of Avadhoota Datta Peetham commented that Sadgurudeva Sri Swamiji always makes the time and the effort to perform Nama Sankeertana regardless of how tight the schedule is, or how strenuous the day’s activities may be, out of boundless compassion towards the devotees. We are all highly indebted to Sri Swamiji. The presence of Violin Maestro Dr. L. Subramaniam, who would be accompanying Sri Swamiji’s bhajan session, and his wife, the famous singer Dr. Kavitha Krishnamurthy was acknowledged.
Prayers were offered by Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji to Lord Ganesha represented by the ‘Gam’ seed letter, to Mother Goddess Parashakti Maha Maya, Devi, who is of the form of Paramatma and the Pancha Brahmas, and to Gurudeva who is none other than the Param Brahman.
“Om Ayim Hreem Shreem Siva Rama Anagha Dattaya Namaha. Since there is going to be live telecast on television in the city of Mysore, I will speak in Kannada language for ten minutes. Then I will explain in Telugu. English translation is available through headphones for those in the audience done by Sharath.
Song: Kalikam kalikam
Every particle, every atom in Creation is filled with Energy. Nothing exists without Shakti, energy. Even the five elements which are inert by themselves function by the power of energy. Energy in the form of Parashakti is all pervasive, spreading through the entire universe. She is beyond the five elements. Mother Parashakti’s aspect is in all of us, inside our bodies, as skin, blood, flesh, brain material, and bone. In addition to these five, there are bone marrow, sperm, life force, and individual soul. By the union of Siva and Shakti, these nine features are the source material for all Creation. According to Kaamikaagama Shastra beyond these 9 dhatus or categories of materials, there is a tenth aspect. That is Para Shakti. Without her the nine have no existence. When the body disintegrates at death, this ninth aspect remains. This is Atma, the soul. It is indestructible.
The nine dhatus represent the nine aavaranas or the nine chakras in the Sri Chakra. Parashakti, the tenth dhatu is represented by the Bindu Sthana, the point at the very top of the Sri Chakra. When this Mother is worshipped with complete focus, all siddhis or powers of accomplishment are attained. This Shakti or Energy is called by many names. Ambe or Amma is She. There is none who is higher than Her.
Song: Amba Parameshwari Akhilaandeshwari Aadi Paraashakti paalaya maam
By the devout worship of this Adi Parashakti the mind gets merged into the intellect and the intellect gets merged in the soul. This is known as Paraa Nishthaa. This is bestowed by Her grace. She gives Self Realization to seekers. She is ever blissful. It is Her goal that all Creation should be blissful like Her. She is not pleased as much by the worship or the offerings we make to Her as much as she is pleased by our sincere effort to understand Her, who is of the form our own Self, the Soul. She wants to give us the experience that She is always with us. She enhances the divine qualities in us. The Upanishads describe Her as, “Uma, Hymavati, bahu shobhamaana” – She is always dazzling, not like gold or diamonds but like a brilliant intellect. She and Her Creation are one and the same. There is no Creation without Her. May Her compassion shower upon us all. May the feelings of love and friendship develop in everyone. Let jealousy and hatred be removed. Let there be co-operation and help always. There is no need for interference. Only a helping hand.
Song: Lalita Trishati chanting. This is not a bhajan. It is not a keertan. This is the fifth part of the 300 names of Energy, Mother Goddess Lalita. This is a different calculation.
Song: Neevu thalli Parashakti O Mother, you are the basic energy which is the source or root for all Creation. You do everything. By your grace all the globes and spheres in the galaxies bounce around like balls. All the invisible yet luminous subatomic particles also exist only by your grace. Like water bubbling up in mountain springs, the blood springs up in our hearts. Like flowers get separated from their stems and fall to the ground, the stars fall from the sky. Like hissing cobras desires raise their heads. Like swans which have just grown wings, life forces fly away. Like a hidden treasure the unrealized Truth remains in our hearts. Your enlightening message melodiously rings in our hearts during meditation. Truth, Knowledge, Eternity, and Infinity – by Sadguru’s teachings these come to light in the hearts of the pure souls and bestow Sat-chit-Ananda.
Song: Line 1: Shreem – Shreem – Shreem – …(1 syllable)Line 2: Du rgi – La kshmi – Vaa ni – Maa ta – Ni nnu – na mmi – va cci – naa nu (2 syllables)Line 3: Ja na ni – Bh vaa ni – Paa rva ti – Va ra daa – ka ru na – joo pu maa – nee ra ja – na ya naa (3 syllables)Line 4: Na va na va – yu ga mu la – (4 syllables)Line 5: Kaa la mu nee ve – ma mmu kaa va ve – ..(5 syllables)Line 6: A bha ya mu nee ve – bha ya mu thee ya ve – ..(6 syllables)Line 7: S R G M P D N – naa da mu nu vu ga da – ..(7 syllables)Line 8: Sha kti dur ga vu nu vva mma – …(8 syllables)Line 9: Sa dgu ru roo pi ni nee va mma – ..(9 syllables)
This is an amazing composition of Sri Jayalakshmi Mata. It is Puttuji’s composition. How can I explain about her? Miracles are going on. The first line has all single syllables. The second line has all two syllable words. The third line has three syllable words. The fourth line has four syllable words. The fifth line has five syllable phrases. The sixth line has six syllable phrases. The seventh line has seven syllable phrases. The eighth line has eight syllable phrases. The ninth line has nine syllable phrases. When written down syllable by syllable, it takes the form of a Sumeru Sri Chakra. It is a very powerful bhajan.
We have 5 more days. Tomorrow it will be a different dance. On Sunday new bhajans, another different dance.
(Sri Swamiji told Dr. L. Subramaniam who was seated on the stage). I am very happy with L. Subramaniam’s music. Lakhs and millions of devotees like your music. I am very happy. All these are your fans.”
