Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – June 30, 2012 – Mysore
Jaya Guru Datta
Rama’s story was taught by Sage Valmiki to Kusha and Lava. The twin sons sang their father’s story in the presence of the king. Rama was immensely pleased to listen to the rendition and felt surprised to hear that it was he himself who had killed the mighty Ravana. Krishna was very pleased when Uddhava, his disciple who had received his teachings on spirituality, conveyed them soon thereafter to the cowherd community that Krishna had grown up with.
When my teachings are heard and practiced during my own lifetime, they will be better absorbed and understood by you, rather than if you study them much later after I am gone. Many of you will clamor for them then, because then all that you will have of me are my teachings. You will realize their worth only then. It will give me immense happiness to see you giving them attention right now. All gurus feel that way. The teachings should be grasped by the devotees and disciples then and there and they should be spread widely.
Many of you have Swamiji’s Life History book at home. But you have not read it recently. It is not sufficient if you have read it once a long time ago. You have to keep reading it again and again to grasp its inner essence. You have to put into practice what it teaches. The same is the case with Bhaktimala monthly magazine. Many senior devotees, to their shame, to this day are not aware of its existence. Many are not utilizing that treasure.
Swamiji is sending wonderful messages daily to all of you. Most of you give excuses that you have no time to read them or watch them. The Nandana Project MMS videos are being sent daily. Very few of you are watching them and commenting on them. If you read, if you watch, if you put into practice what is taught, if you appreciate and comment, it gives me encouragement and strengthens my resolve to help you more to progress spiritually. If you are disinterested, my efforts are wasted.
I am back again in full swing attending to my activities round the clock, to the exasperation of my doctors. I am busy doing recordings, music therapy sessions, and so on. If I am well, I have to attend to my duties. I cannot remain still.
