Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji during evening Bhajan Program – May 28, 2012 – Mysore

Jaya Guru Datta

Swamiji is sending so many wonderful messages through the Internet. He uses Facebook, Vimeo, E-mail, and puttugam.comwebsite and so many other related websites to communicate with you on a daily basis. Still you complain about not getting interviews. You do not utilize the numerous opportunities that Swamiji is giving you to come close to him by following his teachings. You say you have no time. You say that there is power outage. You say that you were sleeping.

Swamiji’s beautiful television programs come on daily but very few of you watch them. They come at six O’clock in the morning. He explains the teachings of the Bhagavatam and other scriptures in an entertaining and hilarious manner with stories and jokes. But you are all in bed. You do not wake up before 9 or 10 in the morning. Then you rush off to work after eating a sumptuous breakfast and drinking coffee. You have time for those but not to brush your teeth or to take a bath. It is such a good habit to wake up early, bathe and to watch these wonderful programs to start your day with the darshan and blessing of the guru. But you do not care.

Most people who watch these programs are not even devotees. Only a small percentage of Datta devotees watch these shows. You have the time to watch movies until late at night. You have the time to watch shows with violence, crime, and dirty stuff. You like to watch dirty news channels that denounce Swamiji. Those you eagerly watch and discuss with others. Are you not even ashamed to listen to garbage being spoken about your Sadguru? But if some good devotees are eager to share their wonderful experiences with Swamiji, you have no time to listen to them.

Sometimes I really wonder why I should exert myself night and day to do things for you when you show such indifference. Why should I bother to send you beautiful personal messages everyday through Facebook and E-mail when you do not even care to open the messages to read them? Yes, I understand if you say that you cannot spare half an hour in the morning to watch Swamiji’s show explaining the scriptures. But I cannot believe that you cannot spare a minute or two to open and read the short inspirational messages that Swamiji sends you so lovingly each day. I am very disappointed. You come running for doing Pada Puja and for pouring out your worldly troubles. But you show no interest in improving yourselves by listening to the good messages that Swamiji sends you. Some of the messages even have Swamiji’s recorded voice. Still, you show no interest.

If you watch the television programs and write to the TV channels expressing your appreciation, then they will add more programs. The Kannada devotees have done that and have requested a bhajans program by Swamiji on Television. Now they have one. But the Telugu devotees have not taken any initiative to ask for any new programs by Swamiji. Do you have to be that lazy and unconcerned?

I do all this not only for you, the present generation, but also to help the future generations, starting with your children. I also give messages of solace that would comfort the elders in the family. You do not watch and you do not share any of these valuable teachings either with your children or with your parents.

For some television channels we had to pay. Non-devotees are benefiting by the programs but not Datta devotees.

We have so much expense here to run this ashram. Our generators are almost twenty years old and need to be replaced; here in the prayer hall and also at the Nada Mantapa. Our electricity bills are exorbitant. We offer free food here three times a day. You come here for a holiday, enjoy the facilities and the food, and go away unconcerned. We eagerly wait for food donations, and monthly maintenance support. It is dwindling year by year. If Swamiji does not go out on tours, funds are not generated. Even if you cannot come, you can still send your Pada Puja donation as a commitment towards your guru. But you do not do it. You treat your relationship with your guru as something commercial.

Now starting this Birthday, on May 31st, Swamiji is launching a wonderful new program called SGS – MMS. MMS stands for Musical Message Sayings.  At the end of the year, after the devotees receive 366 messages, a huge contest will be held. Questions will be asked about each day’s message, the music clip, and the source of the song and message. All the music that will be used in these excellent minute and a half videos is available at the Apple ITunes store and at FlipKart store. The music can be purchased, downloaded and listened to, to help you identify which video has what music clip, to help you win expensive prizes that you will receive from the divine hands of the Sadguru himself. There will be twelve hefty prizes given, beginning with a site in Mysore near the ashram or a car worth five lakhs, a scooter, and so on, down to a CD for each and every participant in the competition.

To help in the preparation of these novel and unique educational and entertaining videos with rare pictures, sceneries, fantastic visual effects, social and spiritual messages, and stunning music clips, over twenty young volunteers have been trained in using highly sophisticated computer software. They have voluntarily dedicated their entire time, giving up family and work obligations, just to serve Swamiji 24/7 until the project is done. This whole mega project is happening under the direct continual guidance of Swamiji. These daily messages will contain quotations from Swamiji’s teachings in different languages, some in English, some in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and so on. They will also have Swamiji’s voice plus bhajans or instrumental music. It is a very expensive and creative endeavor using high tech modern techniques taken up by Swamiji to celebrate this Nandana year in which he had received his unforgettable spiritual initiation from his mother sixty years ago. This is his way of spreading his music, messages, artistic talents, and joy with everyone all over the world. Many American devotees have helped in purchasing the special video clips that are being used in these Musical Message Sayings. You may watch these messages on Facebook, E-Mail or at puttugam.com if you become a free subscriber. Subscription is a requirement for participation in the competition.
