Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji in the evening – Mysore – March 8, 2013

Jaya Guru Datta

“Swamiji is sharing a secret with you. It is very difficult to explain. I can only tell you this much. There are now more than 365 Bonsai plants in the Kishkindha Moolika Vana in the ashram. Each is designated for a day in the year, your birthday. Some bonsai experts are awe-struck at how some of those species are surviving here in this climate. We do not use any chemicals. We only provide soil, a lot of love, and some water. Only two dedicated volunteer workers are maintaining this largest Bonsai garden in Asia. We got huge containers full of plants from Singapore, Mumbai, Kashmir, Coimbatore and other places in recent years. The plants have healing properties. Some bonsai growers were very greedy and perhaps too attached to their plants that they were unwilling to sell them to Swamiji when he shows an interest in obtaining them. Now when they find that their plants are drying up, they come running, offering those plants.

The admission fee to the Bonsai garden is shamefully low. Yet, many devotees are not availing themselves of the opportunity of visiting the Bonsai garden. Those who can afford should actually offer double the cost of the ticket at least, as a donation. You should take a leisurely walk and look at all the plants. It is useless if you simply rush through. Donations are needed to maintain this very valuable asset. You do not need to squeeze the juice from the leaves to get the healing benefit from any of those plants. You just need to look at each plant and take a mental photograph of it. That is sufficient. That light projected into your mind will stir up juices in the brain. If you drink some water afterwards, those healing juices will percolate into the entire system and will result in physical and mental healing. It is as simple as that. No need for injecting any part of the plant into your system. Just look and make a mental photo image in the mind. The breeze blowing past the plants carries their healing aroma. You just have to go near them and inhale the fresh air.

The same principle works for Swamiji’s healing music also. Many people play it loudly and get irritated with the sounds. You should play it very softly, in a level that is soothing to listen to. It should just be barely audible. You may even play it in a different room than where you are sleeping. Then the healing takes effect. If you play it blaring, then the healing effect is minimal. You should softly absorb the sounds and then drink some water. The juices that the healing music creates in your brain will then spread to the rest of the body and your health gets restored.
Please follow these simple techniques.

Darshan of Sadguru works the same way. When you see the Sadguru, the eyes of the devotee absorb the light rays reflecting from the divine Guru and make an imprint, a photo image in the brain. That picture stimulates the secretion of subtle juices inside, that permeate the entire system and cause purification.

In the Indian musical scale, Ma – Man comes after Ga – gaganachara – birds that fly in the sky. We were all birds before we evolved to be human beings. We have a close connection with birds. A lot of research is done by Swamiji to find out the relationship between the zodiac signs and the colors of birds that are associated with each sign. The colors of the birds and the sounds that the birds make are highly beneficial when you see the colors and listen to the sounds. Again, you make a mental picture and that picture has the power to heal you. You listen to the bird songs and they heal you in a very subtle manner. There is no need to touch the birds in Shuka Vana to gain the healing benefit. Just see them, their shapes and colors and hear their chirping. With these parrots, one can only show love and patience. One should never get angry or irritable. The parrots are very sensitive. If their feelings are hurt, they will not respond to you. Some of our birds sing the Sama Veda. Some are learning to say words and sing the bhajan, Pahi pahi Gajanana.

Shuka Vana is for members only, family members. It is not for public display. It is only for those who are willing and ready to serve the bird community with a genuine interest. Swamiji is collecting these birds for helping mankind. It is neither a hobby nor a business nor is it for show off.

Shuka Vana is like a temple. The birds housed here are deities of the zodiac wheel. It was very difficult to obtain these birds. Importation is not allowed. The British had imported many species as pets. After they left, those species have been bred locally in this country. Some of the species have become extinct. Those that remain, we are able to get. Each bird comes with its genetic history that is like a booklet. Many bird owners also show off their birds even when they have no intention of selling them. After Swamiji asks to have the bird, they give their denial. That is not right. If they are not for sale, they should not be shown as if they are available for purchase. This experience Swamiji has had, with birds as well as bonsai plants.

Much research is done about the healing properties of each bonsai plant. You must visit the Bonsai garden at least once on each of your visits to the ashram. Do not be lazy and miss the opportunity. Swamiji has taken immense trouble to provide these healing opportunities for you, his family members, the close devotees, through Shuka Vana, Bonsai garden, Vishwam museum, and the Healing Music Therapy sessions. It is important to utilize these facilities and gain the benefit from them. You are all welcome to support these activities.”
