Speeches by HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – November 17 at Hanuman Dwarka Mandir, 2013 – Delhi

Morning after puja

Jaya Guru Datta
Veera Hanuman ki jai.

Two days of ceremonies for consecration are over. Time is racing. Time has no mercy. Time and Death are always merciless. We are always under the control of Time. We move within its limits. It is most difficult to transcend. It is endless and cannot be grasped by the mind. It cannot be controlled. It is ananta, achintya, and akrama. It has no connection with thought or system. Whether one is sinful or pious, one reaps the consequences of one’s actions. Everything is self-created. That is why birth occurs. Sin results in birth, including human birth. Human birth allows for a systematic liberation. It is a good college for training and instruction. In a human lifetime, one can complete one’s education and graduate into liberation by following the systematic training and step by step learning. A human birth is precious that way and whoever gets it must utilize it for this purpose.

One should not bemoan, Why this human birth? In the mother’s womb, it is like being in the ocean depths. It happens for a good purpose. It is not a reason for depression or disappointment. You need this, you want this, because you always desire to merge with God and attain eternal bliss. It is a good wish. To achieve this, you must go through the four stages of human life and pass all the classes. In old age, it is the preparatory class for dispassion and detachment. Once it begins, you are very lucky. There should be no arguments, no discussions, or quarrels about Guru. You are born in my family, you are fortunate. Parents are only instrumental. You choose to be born, but because of ignorance, you do not remember. You have lost your memory. If you try to remember and recollect, through the service of Guru, through His guidance, then, you will understand. Till then, you gave to fight against Maya, illusion. If you keep asking mad questions, you are then a mental case. You need treatment. You have such good parents, friends, and associates. You have enough to eat and drink. So enjoying all comforts, you argue. First, correct your attitude. Until then, your arguments will not stop. This is all your destiny. Be careful.

Do not misuse this life. Do not entertain unnecessary thoughts. Your birth is good. Be happy. Do not think about tomorrow. Think of your immediate future, that is all. Do your duty. Do not think of yesterday. All experiences in life are lessons for you, whether the experiences are good or bad. From your good thoughts and bad thoughts, you have to learn valuable lessons. Proceed slowly. Do not go fast. If you try to speed, accidents will occur. You have made this vehicle. You must drive it with caution. You should not drive at 120 km. where the speed limit is only 80 km. If you follow the rules, you will arrive at your destination safely. Over-confidence is bad. Believe in God and Guru. Surrender to their will and instructions. Place your burden on them. Your life is like a flower. Handle it carefully. Otherwise it will get spoiled.

Bhagavad Gita is a flow of nectar. Vishnu is seated on the Brahma Nadi. Do not give pain. Face your karma. Siva’s names are all contradictory. He is krama and akrama, ghora and aghora, dhairya and adhairya, all opposites, all contradictions. He is Kapali and Kapardi. He represents both opposite sides. He is Vishakantha (poison-throated), and Amritadhara (flow of the nectar of immortality). He is both light and darkness, He is both Knowledge and Ignorance. He has created both. With His countless arms He controls everything. He has two hands and innumerable hands. Remember Siva on this auspicious full moon day in the month of Kartika.

This is all a puppet show. It is a dolls play. We play, we sing, we cry as He wills. When the show is over, He puts away all the dolls in the box. We go into the box, and are taken out for the next show. It goes on endlessly. He holds the puppet-strings. Maha Vishnu, Siva, Guru, all are Hanuman in so many forms. He knows everything. He has been consecrated here. Time, like a wheel is whirring and spinning. God is beyond Time. We are controlled by Time. Do not ask questions. Contemplate in this manner: My soul is God. It will give me answers.

You approach it in silence, with reverence. If wrong answers are received, then it is your mind and intellect that are giving the answers, not your soul. The intellect/mind requires treatment from the Guru. Read the Bhagavad Gita and understand about illusion. Bhagavad Gita is Sadguru Ganapathy Sachchidananda. Guru Gita gives directions and direct orders. It is very easy to understand. You must face your karma and its consequences. Everything is good. You are the Parabrahman, Hanuman. Be fearless. Drive life’s vehicle fearlessly. Do not worry. Do not go into depression. This is Hanuman’s message for you today. Fulfill this birth in this body-temple. All holy rivers and oceans are contained in it. Do not ponder about someone’s birth, someone’s birthday, someone’s death, some old person’s demise, or someone’s particular given name. All these are natural occurrences. Keep doing your duty, remaining happy in your heart. It is all only a puppet show. Do not spend this short lifetime crying.

Swamiji has now given you a good certificate, and a good answer. Just for friendship you may come for interviews, just to exchange greetings. But the same message Swamiji will give you, in a small or a big way. We are both a part of the same puppet show. We both play as puppets. Do not suffer. Enjoy. Jaya Guru Datta

You have no devotion, no fear, and no love for your Guru. You are only a small group gathered here. Yet, you create so much noise. You behave as if you are in a marketplace. You talk on the phones in the near proximity of Swamiji. You talk to your neighbors, exchanging casual remarks. You are making noise about receiving raksha prasadams. All the time you are chattering. You act as if you itch all over your bodies if you do not continuously talk. We talked yesterday about the Mouna/Silence Conference. Can you not maintain silence for 10 minutes while Swamiji is giving darshan and is present amidst you? Some devotees like to tell Swamiji about their serious problems. They wish to receive some advice. I cannot even hear what they are saying, to be able to give a proper answer. I keep answering randomly something irrelevant, because I cannot hear their question because of your clamor. The same people who asked me about a serious problem, once their turn is over, begin talking loudly, within a few feet from me. Are you not concerned about the devotees who are in the queue after you? Are you not ashamed of yourselves? If you have respect, you will remain quiet. If you have love for me, you will remain quiet. If you have devotion, you will be quiet. You have none of the above. You are inside a temple. Yet, you are totally without restraint and have no control of your tongues. So many times the volunteers have announced through the microphone, “Silence”. Yet, you keep chattering so loudly. You should remain silent and if the neighbors are speaking, you should admonish them and tell them to keep quiet. You do neither. You are in a temple, and in the presence of your Guru. People ask me why I do not come to Delhi frequently, but visit foreign countries so often. You should see how disciplined the devotees are, in the US, and in Europe. That is why I call them my angels. In Europe, after 3 days of Silence Seminar, they begged me for more. Here, for a few minutes, you cannot maintain silence. I am very unhappy. Okay. Now, make noise. Make all the noise you want. Behave as if you are in the vegetable market. Go on. Talk. Make a huge commotion. It is Guru’s order. Everybody talk! Unless you resume your uncontrolled talking, I will not leave. Talk!

Sri Guru Datta

Evening

Jaya Guru Datta

pavanasuta vīra hanumān kī jai/Victory to Hanuman, the son of wind.

ānjanēyaṁatipāṭalcnanaṁ kāncanādri kamanīya vigrahaṁ
pārijāta tarumūla vāsinaṁ bhāvayāmi pavamāna nandanaṁ

Ōṁ namō hanumatē namaḥ

Anjaneya always resides at the base of the Pārijāta tree. It is a kalpavr̥kṣa, like kāmadhēnu, it fulfills wishes. A coconut tree also is like that. The water inside it is like the water of River Ganga. It is Truth.

vandē vānara nārasiṁhakhagarāṭ krōḍāśva vaktrāncitam
nānālankaraṇaṁ tripancanayanaṁ dēdīpyamānaṁ rucā
hastābjairasikhēṭa pustaka sudhākuṁbhānkuśādrīṁ halaṁ
khatvāngaṁ phanibhūruhaṁ ca dadhataṁ sarvāri garvāpahaṁ

This prayer describes the five faces of Hanuman, His five incarnations. He has the faces of Man/Lion, Monkey/Vanara, Eagle, Horse, and Boar. He gives spiritual knowledge/Jnana even to the ignorant. He makes the deceitful ones honest. In our bodies there is arrogance/pride because of wealth, strength, power, beauty, and scholarship.

Charity is a decoration for the wealthy. Humility instead of arrogance is a decoration for the scholarly. Service is a decoration for the strong. Whoever worships Hanuman with devotion will have all their assets put to good use. Otherwise by misusing them you become sinful and will be led to hell. Wealth, scholarship, beauty, and strength should be properly utilized. In the beginning, at birth, we have nothing, none of the above. What God has given us, we must return to Him with interest, just the way you return with interest the money that you borrow from a bank. Whatever money you possess, you must give it away in charity. What is acquired from elsewhere must be returned to its source. We must also return to our source. This earth is a rental property. We keep saying, mine, mine. If it is all really yours, then why is it you cannot take it with you when you die? You decorate your body remaining in front of a mirror. But you have to leave this body when you die. You do not know when the call to return home will come. Every second, you have to be prepared. You have to be careful how you lead your life. The return ticket for you is ready. It is always so. Before giving a visa to visit a country, they first ask to see your return ticket. Only with that the visa is sanctioned. Here also, the duration of stay that is sanctioned varies. It may be 8 years, 51 years, 32, 62, 22, 92, or only 5 years or 3 years or merely 40 days that is sanctioned. The decision is sealed. We know this. Still, we misuse our opportunity. If you follow the wrong path there are thieves pointing a gun at you. That path is not good. You should be afraid of such. You should use caution during your affairs of the world. Sometimes you have to act, I agree, you have to pretend to cry, you may have to tell an occasional lie to get along in this world. But there should not be too much of pretension, only as absolutely required. Always be careful because someone is looking at your actions. Your conscience and the five elements are constantly watching. God knows everything that you do. So many people vehemently deny their wrong actions.

Devotees, who worship Hanuman, and chant His name, automatically become disciplined. You are a witness to your own actions. There is no need to tell others. God always forgives because it is His nature to forgive. You must also practice forgiveness.
The best amongst people display anger for one second. The people of middle category keep their anger overnight. The worst people retain their anger lifelong.

Swamiji scolds for two seconds and then completely forgets. Some people feel anger towards the guilty as well as the innocent. The anger at the boss at the office is shown at wife and children at home who are absolutely innocent. Like a dog daddy screams at his family. For many, the anger dissipates overnight. The next morning he feels fresh and all is forgotten. He is fine and calls everyone dear and darling. But the hopeless kinds of persons never laugh or smile. They are always angry. How to deal with such people? Only a psychiatrist can handle them. He too will sometimes lose his balance. Small children sometimes show daddy how the teacher at school treats the children. Teachers treat everyone like children.
Whoever believes in Hanuman will notice that their anger melts away. They never remember their angry moments or incidents. They cannot recollect them even if they try. They totally forget the episodes. The children around me take advantage of this weakness in me. Swamiji’s anger lasts only 2-5 minutes, maximum.
Am I right, Kailash?
“One hundred per cent right, Swamiji.”
Now, Yes. But suppose the volunteer pulls away your chair as you are sitting down, then? It will be “No”.
Chant the mantras that I gave earlier. Or chant this following shorter verse.

yatra yatra raghunātha kīrtanaṁ tatra tatra kr̥tamastakānjaliṁ
bāṣpavāri paripūrṇalōcanaṁ mārutiṁ namata rākṣasāntakam

Or, just chant Ōṁ namō hanumatē namaḥ

When you are in grief, chant any of these mantras. The power of the sound of the mantras, when chanted with genuine devotion and concentration on the deity, will remove your grief. Mechanical chanting/japa will give you no benefit. Such japa will give you rebirth as a dog. Chanting without focus, while talking on the phone, or thinking other thoughts, or while attending to other types of business, yields no benefit even if you complete several malas/rosaries a day. Even the count of hundreds of thousands of chanting will not benefit you. Offer to Swamiji the count of only what you have chanted in earnest with full concentration. Similarly, be very careful with your breaths. Do not waste breaths (through rapid breathing). The lifespan is counted in number of breaths granted to each individual. The countdown begins at birth. We are given a limited number of breaths each. Great souls preserve the number of their breaths by the practice of pranayama, through retention of breath and prolonging each breath.

Avoid needless mental upsets. So many people spoil their minds by seeing cinemas, reading novels, detective stories, and so on. Their minds become deluded. They take the characters seriously. Watching serials also has the same detrimental effect. People begin to imitate the characters that they read about or watch on the screen. When people miss one day’s episode of their favorite serial, they call friends to find out anxiously what happened. They try to record the serial if they are going to be away, and if during their absence there is a power outage/current failure, they get very upset. Am I right? Are my words not true? Do not take serials seriously. Unnecessarily you ruin your mental peace.

Concert in Dubai is very important. Do not miss it. Watch it on yogasangeeta.org. It will be very soothing. There will be no disturbing iron birds as in the Delhi concert (aircraft flying overhead during the concert). Jaya Guru Datta. Ōṁ namō hanumatē namaḥ
