We are today lighting ” Datta Deepam” which is the form of the Trinity, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara. We are going to light the lamps in the divine presence of Lord Shiva! We are lighting the lamp in this auspicious ambiance arranged by Bhakti Channel. We cannot witness Koti Deepam in every house or any house. Witnessing this event itself is a great fortune to all of us. We are fortunate to be a part of Koti Deepotsavam organised by Bhakti Channel. The infant awaits one important thing as she is in mother’s womb that is Light at which the infant looks, as soon as she is born. The light imparts knowledge. The child looks at her parents as soon as she enters this world. Today, by lighting the lamps, we are showing the light to our ancestors. We are performing their duty. Secondly we are bestowed with knowledge by lighting the lamp. Thirdly the inner darkness/ ignorance of the soul gets removed. Jyothi / knowledge is lit.
We are very very fortunate to participate and perform Koti Deepotsavam, which is being organised in Bhagyanagar. Our fortune arrived at our Bhagyanagar. In our mother land, following our tradition, this kind of amazing event has to be performed in every house atleast to the extent possible. There are some houses which follow the practice of maintaining ” Akhanda Deepam”. The light had been lit since several generations in those houses. Recently there was a story too, where in four brothers in the house with the tradition of ” Akhanda Deepam” approached the court claiming the possession of that Akhanda Deepam. Finally the elders settled the issue by giving four lit lamps to be continued as Akhanda Deepams in four houses.
Today we are celebrating Koti Deepotsavam. Since it is difficult to perform at home, we can plan to light atleast one Lakhs lamps at home. We recollect once again that Karthika Deepotsavam is very important as it makes our ancestors happy and that we are blessed with knowledge. I pray Lord Shiva that this divine event should happen every year. I pray to Lord Hanuman to be always with the blessed couple Smt and Sri Narendra Chowdary to perform such divine events. Now the infant is born and let us light the lamps to get rid of ignorance. Let us also look at ” KOTI DEEPOTSAVAM ” and get enlightened as the infant absorbs knowledge as it looks at the light of the world after it is born.
Jaya Guru Datta !
