Sankranti festival is the main celebration that gives happiness to everyone. Nature refreshes and rejoices and everyone feels excitement and enthusiasm. The young and old, not only amongst humans, but in all living creatures feel inexplicably happy and full of hope. Mother Earth joyously and generously gives rewards. All living beings get good nourishment. Trees, cows, birds, grains, and farmers are respected and honored. Homes are filled with prosperity. Today the Sun God enters the Makara Rasi and grants auspiciousness. Changes occur in the planets. The Uttarayana sacred phase begins today. It is good to offer worship to the planets and ancestors to obtain their favor and blessings and to remove any negative influences. This is a harvest festival adoring Nature and its plentiful gifts. Gratitude must be shown towards Nature and its products. Much hidden significance is contained in the celebration of this grand festival. Scientific benefits accrue by the proper celebration of this festival. Pumpkins should be donated at this time.
Events associated with this three day festival are: Exhibition of dolls, Rangolis, Gobbi Puja, Haridasa felicitation, honoring guests, Gangireddu puja (worship of oxen), and so on. By the grace of the Sun God and Lord Karyasiddhi Anjaneya all wishes get fulfilled. This celebration grants great benefits to the entire humanity. Nature and all its features and products should be treated with respect and reverence. Scientifically proven benefits occur by the proper performance of all the rituals stipulated by the scriptures. Here and in the hereafter many rewards are obtained. I bless that by the grace of Sun God, may all be blessed with health, wealth, and all kinds of prosperity.
