Today’s speciality is that it is Kala Bhairava Jayanthi. It is a wonderful day. Kala Bhairava Jayanthi is celebrated for 5 days in Karnataka and Kasi. In Mysore Ashram, a 300 year old Kala Bhairava temple was found. It is now being renovated. It was found underground. You would be able to see it during Datta Jayanti. It is called Ashta Kala Bhairava. It has a history of 300 years. Mysore ashram is such a powerful place. In Surat, Suryapuri, there is a Datta temple. Kumbhabhisheka is done every 12 years. Now were are celebrating the 2nd cycle and performing Pradhana Brahma Kalashabhisheka. It is a great blessing to render service in this event. The Yantra Sthapana done here in the Datta temple is very powerful. In every temple, you can feel the vibrations. You must make use of this energy in the temple. You should stand in front of the Lord, close your eyes and pray. You will then realize the energy that Sri Swamiji has invoked here with the Yantra Prathishta. All your sorrows and difficulties will be driven away. The tasks you’ve undertaken will be completed successfully. Your prayers will be fulfilled. That is the greatness of this temple. You will realize that in future.
Sri Swamiji has consecrated many temples across the world – Hanuman temples, Datta temples, Durga temples. In America, Sri Swamiji recently consecrated a Hanuman temple, Rama temple and a temple for Durga Mata. A very large crowd had gathered at the time of consecration. People were surprised as to how such a crowd had gathered. The entire program was like a Mayajaal, a magical event. In Bangalore, we have a Hanuman temple. The temple is crowded always. It is very difficult to even enter the temple on Saturdays and Sundays. Even in Chennai (Madras), there is a Hanuman temple.
Now in Chennai they are facing some difficulties due to the rains – flooding due to heavy rains. It will become all right. I have prayed for their well-being.
Happiness and sorrow will be present together, both in the body and in our lives, like day and night. Otherwise there is no fun! In our meal, there are 6 different tastes. Even if one is missing, the meal will not be relished. Similarly, in our lives, joy and sorrow should be there. If day and night do not occur, we will never understand the meaning of Creation. Now we are learning about Creation, day and night, about Sun and Moon. This happens in our body too. Every year, the body experiences illness due to heat and cold. If the senses have to be overhauled, Jala dosha, catching cold is essential. Some cough, cold. After 16 years, many problems are seen. Every year, for about 5 days, this Jala Dosha should be experienced. It will expel all the toxins from the body. This is God’s Creation.
Joys and sorrows are experienced in the body, family (samsara), and in this world. Even in the world, in one place there are floods, another place experiences drought with no rains and no water to drink. Some place sees earthquakes, fire damage (Agni pralaya), and in some other places, people may be living happily. This entire Creation can keep changing. All this happens for good. It is not bad. We must experience everything with a balanced mind. There should be a balance in the body. Without balance, the budget is not good. Our body is a stereo system – 2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 hands, 2 legs. Even if one of them is not functioning right, the stereo effect will not be good.
There are two hearts. On the right side, there is empty space that is the location of the spiritual heart. The two hearts represent the Jeevatma and the Paramatma that are struggling based on the Karma principle. The spiritual heart represents Ether or Space, the Akasa principle. God is omnipresent. He is formless, and without qualities.
When a devotee prays, He takes a form to bless the devotee. Based on the intent in our mind, the form we worship, the mantra we chant, the form we adore, God takes that form – it could be of Datta, or Mother Goddess Bhagavati Ma.
Man should always think good thoughts and not worry about the future. He should think only of good, auspicious things. Otherwise, he would not even sleep well. No inauspicious thoughts should be entertained. By the power of the mind, the bad thoughts come true. If we think negative, negativity will prevail. Our intent should be good, truthful, and should be with faith in God and oneself. In business, if we keep thinking that there will only be losses, it will cause losses. But you must think you will do well. To make the right intent, your mind, intellect and senses should all be positive. Three-fold purity is essential – purity in body, thought, and speech. Even if you hear bad things, you must translate that to mean only good. Don’t worry about what happened 20 years ago and cry over it. Think of all the good that have happened to you in your life. Believe that good will happen because you have faith in God.
Some friend says, “This God is not good, that God is better,” and takes you there. Someone else pulls you elsewhere. You are wasting time. Be firm, and you will find God in your house, in your own mind. You will attain what you are looking for if you are firm in your belief and strong in the mind. You must hold on to one Guru always. It is very difficult to get a Guru. Once you get a Guru, you must hold on to Him, and follow Him. You must develop a mind-set to sacrifice, give to charity, and to renounce, develop Tyaga buddhi. And you must contemplate over it. We are always thinking about our passions and desires (Raga/moha). You are all sitting here but are worrying about home, “Oh, what time is it?” You always look at the time. But you expect God to protect you at all times. God has to be available always and protect you. But you have no time for God, you spend only 5 minutes to pray. But to sleep, there is no time limit! You never set aside time for God. But you talk philosophy that God is in your mind. When you are expected to spend time for God, you make excuses saying He is in your heart! He is in your mind. But you are eating, drinking and sleeping. All this you want to do physically. Why don’t you eat in your mind and also sleep in your mind?? Why only for praying you make excuses? This is not right. You have to make your life fruitful. We do not live for 100 years. Half of our time is spent in sleep and childhood. In old age, we get some time, but the bodily ailments trouble us. It becomes very difficult to concentrate. Now we are very healthy. At this time, we must practice doing Sadhana.
God has blessed us with 3 holy epics – Bhagavata, Ramayana and Mahabharata. God is so compassionate! Every day, read a little bit from one book. Bhagavata teaches Bhakti. Ramayana teaches how to live in the society; Mahabharata teaches how to do manage worldly affairs. These are equal to Upanishads. They will grant you happiness.
Don’t waste time. Whether you are travelling or are at home, don’t waste time. If It is very essential, watch TV for a short while, that too only if It is a good program, else It is a waste of time. Our time is very short, so you cannot waste it. Every second should be utilized.
Focus on inhaling, exhaling. Practice chanting the Guru mantra along with every breath. Give up other thoughts and worries. Think about God, think about yourself. Who are you? You are born in this family, what work do you do? Is it only earning money, building a home, sending children abroad? You grow old.
What is your destination? You must develop Bhakti. For 2-3 days journey how much you prepare! You fill your baggage with shirts, sarees and money. It takes 10 days preparation for a 2-day journey. But our journey is very long, you cannot come back. What is the preparation for this journey? What bag will you pack? You must engage in spiritual inquiry. Once you practice this, you will be able to travel far. You don’t know whether you will go to Brahma Loka, Vaikuntha, Shiva Loka or Yama Loka! You may go to Yama Loka first! We don’t know. We have to travel to a far-away planet. This is not our planet. We are here only temporarily, on rent. God has given this opportunity to do some Sadhana. Do your duties for the family and make all arrangements (vyavastha). Don’t be unhappy. May your lives be happy.
