Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – March 29, 2015 – Bangalore

Love and devotion towards Hanuman should increase in each of us. Mind should not experience boredom even after repeated chanting of Chalisa.

Those who inherently possess a powerful and strong mind do not need any mantra and yantra for their protection.

Such persons can heal themselves without the aid of mantras and tantras. But an ordinary person cannot declare that he has such strong mind. Therefore such a person needs to seek refuge in Parabrahma and in these chantings.

Benefits of chanting Hanuman chalisa:

1) There will be a significant increase in vidya (knowledge), strength (bala), good buddhi and memory power of the individual. Children need to chant Hanuman chalisa regularly as it boosts their memory power.

2) Problems faced by the person get resolved.

3) Hanuman reduces weaknesses/ doshas that exist within us.

4) Physical and mental health considerably improves.

5) Our devotion towards the Supreme also sees a significant growth.

6) Due to the vibration generated by the chanting, the healing power increase in our surroundings. This good energy spreads everywhere and in turn protects us.

7) Hanuman chalisa is a Maha mantra, a maha yantra. The power contained in this Chalisa cannot be explained.

In a nutshell, this Hanuman Chalisa is a powerful medicine.

Hanuman himself is the medicine. His image/ form is the medicine. He is not a religion. He belongs to all religions. He is the doctor who cures. When we are sick we do not worry about the religion of the doctor. We go to that doctor who has the ability/ efficiency to cure. We struggle till we reach the clinic of such doctor. If the first doctor could not cure our disease, we unhesitatingly go to another doctor who is known for his efficiency, irrespective of his religion. It is the same with Hanuman.

All of you are my relatives. You are my brothers, sisters and children. You have sought refuge in me. You have placed full faith in me. Therefore I am recommending to you- “Go to Hanuman. He is the most efficient doctor. I am recommending him out of my personal experience. My mother introduced me to this doctor Hanuman when I was an infant and I have benefitted a great deal from him. Try this doctor. I am not forcing you, but gently I am recommending.”
Holding Hanuman Chalisa program is a wonderful combination of devotion and social service. This chanting is generally accompanied by Annadana and medical camps. Even pure social service yields results, no doubt. But combining it with devotion (bhakti) is a faster path, that’s all.

Hanuman has no form. He is the form of wind. If a person with a body like that of Hanuman is really born on earth, we will immediately place him in the museum for display. Paramatma is not visible. All his forms are nothing but an imagination (kalpana) of the mind. Mind is the root for this kalpana. We cannot see wind but know and experience its existence. On a hot summer day, when we sweat, we state ‘there is no air’. This is actually not true. It is just that we are unable to feel its existence at that time.

Wind brings about rainfall and wind reduces the heat. Thus it plays a very important role in nature. There is nothing that Hanuman cannot shower. He is the future Parabrahma. He is Chiranjeevi (of permanent existence). He just took a form to serve Rama, that’s all. Rest of the time He remains eternally in his invisible state. That which is invisible is permanent. Everything visible is subject to destruction.

However His form may be, in my eyes He is extremely handsome. Even with that monkey face, He looks so lovely. Since in my eyes he is beautiful, I declare him beautiful. That’s all. This is the kind of love you should have in the Lord.

He is the Lord who gives me knowledge; He is the one who gives me strength. He is the one who protects my children; He is the one who solves all my problems. He is the one who is by my side at all times; He is the one who will take me to liberation. “O Lord, this is the kind of faith that I have placed in you. Taking care of me is your responsibility. Why should I worry how you will take me, when I am sure you will take me to the goal?” Such is the faith I have in the Lord. I hope you all also develop this kind of faith in Him. I follow the path of devotion (bhakti marga).
