Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – morning – October 11, 2015 – Mysore
(Every Sunday, Rice Tulabharam/weighing His weight in rice sitting on a huge weighing scale – is taking place at Mysuru ashrama during Sri Swamiji’ presence, where devotees offer the rice to equal the weight)
Generally, Swamiji does not agree to sit for Tulabharam. On rare occasions He has agreed for silver or gold Tulabharam, and on a couple of occasions for jaggery Tulabharam.
Now, since the commencement of the Hanuman Yajna (worldwide chanting ritual of the Hanuman Chalisa – 40 verses in praise of Lord Hanuman, composed by Saint Tulasidas, for 900 crore times in about a year’s time), Swamiji has made the determination to collect enough rice and other resources for the concluding program which will continue for seven days, with Annadanam to be conducted on a massive scale. That is why He has agreed to do this ritual to gather rice and the nine grains, but mostly rice. By the grace of Hanuman, now every one of you has a chance to participate in this ritual.
Eventually all this rice will go to the Annapurna Mandiram Dining Hall, and from there, into your stomachs.
Many people are wondering what this is all about. That is why I have explained it. Now you know why this is being done.

Speech in the evening about the movie ‘Interstellar’ shown in the Nada Mantapam.
Note: This translation of the speech is as per my understanding of the content.
Between this city and that city there is a time difference. There is a difference in the life span of living beings living in different locales. Similarly, how time and distance are calculated when travel takes place in immeasurable space, between planets, has been shown to us in this movie, which has spiritual undertones. A huge amount of money was spent, and an immense effort went into the production of this film.
When the scientist returned to the earth and saw his daughter, see how she appeared! She was totally aged, she was a grandmother, because so many years had elapsed on earth during his absence, while he had not aged at all. He remained fresh and young as before. His face was free from any wrinkles. This shows how the pace at which time moves is so different between the different planets. The pace at which time moves in Brahma Loka is very different from its pace on earth.
People laugh when we (our scriptures) say that what is a hundred years for us, is only one daytime for Brahma. But after watching this film, they will stop laughing. They will be convinced of the truth of our scriptural statement.
When the man spent so long on a different planet, he did not age. Because what is a thousand years for us, is equivalent to only ten days elsewhere in space, on a certain different planet.
The scientists have now studied, understood, believed, and have shown us the principle of Brahma as a fact, in the form of this movie. Now the Hindus are forced to believe in the existence of Brahma Loka, Satya Loka and such other different worlds. If they still do not believe, then it means they are fools. This scientist’s experience shows us as he personally witnessed these different planets or planes of living.
Why did Swamiji get this movie screened here? It is to help you understand the concept of Brahma. If you follow the words of the characters spoken in the movie, you will be able to grasp better what was going on. Every word that they have used in scientific terminology, corresponds to Vedanta. There are no romantic scenes or episodes here. This movie shows the difference that exists between Brahma and us. It shows the difference between our karma and our time scale. What we consider as a past lifetime may in truth be just what happened yesterday. What we ate yesterday gets eliminated today. What we eat today gets excreted tomorrow. If very strongly spiced or acidic food is eaten, in three hours it comes out. If the food consumed is even stronger, it gets eliminated immediately as vomit or loose motions. The type of food eaten and the timing it takes to digest or get transformed, are related.
Similarly, people wonder why there is no immediate justice meted out, why there is no immediate punishment and retribution when sins are committed, lies are uttered, and God is abused. They ask why God is keeping quiet.
Time has to take its course. In queue, each has to come and receive the consequences of karma. They have to wait their turn. We become impatient. But time calculations are all predetermined.
How long it took for Lord Narasimha who is another form of Hanuman, to incarnate to protect Prahlada by killing his father Hiranyakasipu! One wonders why a true devotee has to wait and endure torture for so long before getting rescued by God. Hiranyakasipu had so many boons. Therefore, the right time had to come for God to incarnate to fulfill all the stipulated conditions placed by the demon, to make it possible to kill him. It shows that time determines what should happen when. Once the right time came, everything fell in place, and instantaneously the divine manifestation occurred and the punishment took place.
The scientist comes back to earth in a subtle form. He sees his daughter and he feels bad. He had last seen her as a child, before he left the earth. Now she is very old, while he is still youthful.
In this space that is all around us, we have no clue how many invisible living beings are existing. All our elders, our ancestors are watching all of our actions. They are all present in the most subtle form. That is why we have to always be on our best behavior. We should not tell lies, deceive others, or do any wrong things. It is because we are being watched constantly by so many living entities which are invisible. They watch everything. If our behavior is impeccable, then we will proceed to the other worlds. All these atoms will one day explode and the earth may perish. The scientists are attempting to save the earth from getting destroyed.
Hanuman alone is capable of protecting the earth. That is why we should keep praising Hanuman. If He is with us, then we will be protected, that is, if we have the desire to be protected. There is no rule that everyone will be protected.
Every one of us will have to go. None of us will remain here. But this earth, this most precious Creation called earth should be preserved. That is why Guru says: Do Dhyana, Dharana/concentration, Pranayama, and other spiritual practices. The reason is only this.
We must merge beautifully into Time. We will all merge, sooner or later. We must not turn into evil spirits and ghosts and then merge into Time like sewer water flowing into a clean river. That is like experiencing hell. It should not be like that. We should not go in that direction. We must become pure like crystal clean water. Only then, the Jeevatma, the individual soul will merge with Paramatma, the Supreme Soul.
That is why I have shown you this film. You have to remain totally quiet and watch it with complete concentration. This movie has been wonderfully produced at a tremendous cost, as if just for our benefit. Even the English-speaking people will not grasp the real meaning of this movie. Only Indians can follow the concept. Even the scientists who have made the movie will not be able to understand the deep meaning.
This movie depicts what rebirth is. It shows the life and the travel of a fetus inside the womb. The fetus (unborn child) in the womb experiences everything, is aware of all that is going on. He sees all the people, all the relatives, mother, father, grandparents, everyone. But he cannot act. He cannot speak. He witnesses everything. He is eager to come out. He sees things the way he had seen them before. He does not see the ageing process. He only sees what exists in his mind and tries to express it but cannot.
The way the soul travels between the different worlds or planets like Brahma Loka and Bhuloka has been shown to us vividly, although it is all technical effects and animation. The docking systems, the disengagement of parts, and other details are all Vedanta. It is not just crazy imagination. Those who read our Puranas, and the Bhagavatam will know.
In the original Bhagavatam, the first 200-300 pages or even the first two thousand pages are very tough to understand. It is all a description of the process of Creation. Even if you break your head you will not understand. It is impossible. But once you grasp the subject, you will understand all about what the volcanoes are, what the glaciers are, what this entire Creation is all about.
But you are not interested. You are totally attached to your sense organs, your relationships, and personal problems. Your life is filled with desires, anger, interactions with children and elders and then you die. Sooner or later everyone dies.
People are dying. Babies are born. But you are not trying to understand this process of Creation. If you understand about Creation before you die, then you will proceed to higher worlds (Punya Lokas). That is the inner meaning of this movie. If you watch carefully and attentively you will understand. It shows how man, after he dies, comes back to the earth to see the happenings, and how he views things. It explains how the different atoms existing in space are related to the planets. This is a daring depiction of man’s travel in his subtle form through the different worlds.
