So today two murtis installed today. Why murti puja? What is this? Why people are happy to worship stone murtis? Why so many different kinds of murtis, Rama, Siva, and others? So many. Why? What is the use of this worship? Who gave this kind of puja authority? That is a big question some people are asking. Even devotees are asking. I told several times the answer for this. Bhaktimala magazine is printed so many times, and it is available online. Online membership also you can take. Then you can read Bhaktimala. Then you understand Swamiji’s speeches. Vigraha/idol means Nigraha. Control of intellect, mind, our Atman/soul, and sense organs. Sense organs, e.g. Eye is looking. Mind is saying Om namo Hanumate namaha. You open the eyes. The eyes are seeing people moving about, going, sitting, or you look into your hand bag to take something out to give to Swamiji. Others are looking, what is it? Your eyes are closed. When you open your eyes also your concentration must be on God. Then you cannot see what they are taking out of their bag. The scene is automatically dark. That is one sense control. The second sense is ear. So many people are talking. Chatterboxes. You are chanting Jaya Guru Datta, Sri Guru Datta but your ears hear all these dirty voices. Eye also goes to see who is this? You are seeing who is coming and who is going while chanting om namo Hanumate namaha. You must control your eyes, your ears, and also control your nose. If some smell comes, some neighbor is making dosa, or somebody is doing puja and the incense smell is coming, or some use some insecticide spray, while you are chanting, your mind is going, oh, this is dosa, oh, this is holy smoke of agarbatti, oh insects are getting killed, oh, somebody is wearing very nice perfume, and your saying om namo Hanumate namaha. It is of no use. Skin also, sometimes even small insects are bothering you and you are distracted with bug bites, then there is no concentration on om namo Hanumate namaha. It does not matter if some bug bites. You go swatting the insect. It spoils your concentration. You need nigraha. Vigraha/murti gives you Nigraha/control. The murtis are simply sitting or standing. If insects bite, somebody plays the band, somebody comes and goes, nothing. They are only standing. That Vigraha gives such a teaching to you. You must learn like that to control your senses. I must also be like this in tapas, devotion. Otherwise no use. That is Vigraha Aradhana. Vigraha is our Guru. Narayana I like. I keep Narayana. Somebody likes Krishna, they keep Krishna.
Somebody likes Siva. Same. All Vigrahas are teaching the same lessons. Control/Nigraha. One kind of a guru is Vigraha. That is why Murti Puja is necessary. Somedays after, if you have good experience, not necessary Vigraha, not necessary Puja, not necessary temple. Until then, you must practice. You may say, you practiced, you controlled everything, all sense organs. You give promise to Swamiji that you are fully controlling your senses, then you do not need to come to the temple. You do not need any Vigraha. I give you permission. But you cannot. How can you tell a lie to Swamiji? Real control you do not have. It is only drama. Open eyes. Then you can chant. One is Vigraha – it is a must. What is the use of a temple? We are gathering everyone here. All kind of relations, all with different type of minds. We are human being. One temple. We are performing one ritual. One time. We are sitting for meditation. Observing Puja. Listening to bhajans. It is necessary to gather in one place. Not in your house. Some house is big. Some house is small. Legally permission is given to gather in a temple as a group. Necessary to do Puja, Vigraha Puja. It is not a stone. Siva is in our heart, alive. We give bath, decoration, and offer food. Vigraha is a beautiful good friend. It is necessary to have temple and Vigraha/idol or murti. What is the use of a Guru? Guru is our guide, to show our own path. So many different people follow their own different paths. He knows which one should follow which path. If you do Ph.D., you choose a guide. Before, you ask which professor? You enquire with friends, and other professors also. You decide for one professor. Otherwise, you get misguided. Sometimes, the entire project is finished, and then the professor says, this is not good. After you finish your work for one and half to two years, they are jealous, they do not want to submit.
With Guru, there is no jealousy. Professor is only temporary guru. Permanent guru is spiritual Guru. That is what we need. So many different questions come to you. If you read Bhaktimala, you will understand. I told you, If I am coming for 7 to 10 days to Trinidad, I will come to Princess Town. Otherwise, I have no time to travel. I was going to send my boys, the pundits for installation of Siva and Durga. I asked my devotee with the Helicopter. He was ready. So I came. Now the Purnahuti is ready. Installation is ready. Penal and Princess Town, both beginning with P. I get confused. Only ten minutes’ time. I want to be cups salesman. Because I want to go urgently.

Speech at Penal

This is a big program. Now, you can form a queue, touch the Datta Padukas here and go. No talking, no interview. Only come and touch the Padukas and go. I will touch you with this peacock feathers wand. I do not know any mantra. I will just bless you. It will take only 5 minutes. Be very quick, the helicopter does not come after 3pm because the weather is not good. Otherwise, Swamiji would sit for an hour and half and chant Om Namaha Shivaya like a holy man traveling holy roads or “hole-y” roads. Penal is a very nice Ashram. Very good. People are gentle-natured. They are also very silent. All deities are here. I am very happy. One line, all deities. If you have good devotion, good energy, and your heart is pure, you can pray without idols too. You can pray to the tree, that is also god. You can pray to the rock, that is also god. You can pray to the sky, that is god too.
Give food to a hungry man and see Annapoorna Devi in their body as he eats. Annapoorna Devi, my Devi is eating. If you go to a dining hall where Annadana takes place, where 300-400 people are sitting and eating with their hands and you take a photo, think about all the hands belonging to one God and all mouths as God’s mouths. I am calling that Vishwaroopam (cosmic form). Have you seen Vishwaroopam photo? All in one. Tameka Devam Saranam Vrajamaha/I seek refuge in the one and only God. All in one God. All gods, all goddesses are in that God. You are also in that God. I am also in that God. Your father, mother, grandparents and everyone are also in that God. If you think about Vishwaroopam that Krishna showed to Arjuna, that is when Arjuna wonders, “You are not ordinary, Krishna. I am always thinking of you as my brother-in-law. You married my sister. That is why I am always thinking of you as my brother-in-law. That is not good. You are God. My sister is very lucky. My sister is like Rukmini, like Mother goddess. I was thinking of you as an ordinary man, Krishna. After seeing your Vishwaroopa or cosmic form, I got a vision. You are giving knowledge through that gigantic Vishwaroopa”. All earth, all countries, oceans, seas, stars, everything is in that Vishwaroopa. And Arjuna is also there. He was wondering that one more Arjuna was sitting in the Vishwaroopa. The whole Kurukshetra is in his body. The Pandavas were in his body. Kauravas too were in his body. So many horses, all elephants, everything, all kinds of demons, all kinds of angels were also in his body. He wondered. He was speechless.
So, we are all in Hiranyagarbha (literally, golden womb). We are all in that one womb of God. That is Bhagavan Sri Krishna’s womb. We are all in his stomach. He is Angushta Pramana (one who can be visualized in the size of a thumb) Hiranyagarbha. That is why, we are all living in the Lord’s stomach. Do not do anything dirty. Do not make any mistakes. Do not do anything wrong. Do not lie. Do not quarrel. Because, you are all in the womb of God. Do not do anything dirty. You are always pure. Your voice is also pure. When you speak, only speak the truth. Your intellect and body are pure. Be careful. If you make a mistake, he may take you out of the body. We don’t want that. We want to safely be in Bhagavan’s cage. It is a beautiful cage. We are very happy. We are very lucky. It is a good and beautiful house. It is Bhagavan’s house. It is Maha Vishnu’s house. It is a very big cage. It is a very big stomach. The seven oceans, all hills and mountains are also in his stomach. So, O Lord Krishna, please excuse my mistake. So many times, I am thinking of you as a human being. I am always thinking of you as Yasoda’s son. O Lord, I was thinking of you as my brother-in-law. I am addressing you casually as my brother-in-law. You are also very, very mischievous. You are doing drama too. You are crying and laughing and doing the same things humans do. I was confused. I thought you were not God, you were human being. Now I understand that you are not a human being. Why are you always filling my mind with Maya? I just had a flash that you are not a human being. After 2 minutes, this flash will be gone and this light will be gone. I will have this devil mind. I will think, no, no, no, you are human being. It is not good. I cannot bear this. Such a situation is not good. O Lord, I am talking to you so many times like a little boy. I am playing with you mischievously. I am lying to you so many times. And you are excusing me all the time.
Now, I do not want this birth. I do not want to fight. I do not want this kingdom. I don’t want any brothers or mother. Please let me be in your womb, Hiranyagarbha. I will always stay with you. Wherever you go, whatever Maya you do, I will witness. I am very happy. I don’t want to die and take birth again. I am fed up of this birth. I am fed up. If I take a human birth, I will again have desires, anger, greed, attachment, hunger, anger, sleep, eating, drinking, what is this? Worry about children, worry about not having children, worry about father, mother, house, loan…hospital, operation…court, accident, what is this? I cannot bear this birth. I do not want this birth. If you give me a birth, give me birth as a rag. I will lie down at your feet. This human birth is not good. It is very good, it helps me understand you, but I am not using it properly. I am misusing it always. I get angry over silly things. I am fighting with people over silly things. It is not good. I want renunciation. I am sanyasi. I do not want to fight in this birth. I do not want to live. Suddenly he asked for Vairagya/dispassion and he got it. Lord Sri Ramachandra also earned Vairagya. He came back after completing his studies with Sage Vishwamitra and was preparing for his coronation. Even 2-3 years before his coronation, he suddenly got Vairagya. After the second time coronation preparation also, he got Vairagya, he went to the forest. Sri Rama also says, “I do not want your kingdom, I do not want anything”. Then many saints such as Viswamitra, Vasishtha and others advised Sri Rama saying, “No, no, you are the king. You must rule this earth for 10,000 years”.
There was only one land mass then. Later, due to earthquakes, oceans and the land mass got distributed into different parts. After Treta Yuga, the land mass on earth separated. After every yuga, some significant changes happen to the earth. After millions of years, may be after 10 billion years, the land mass will be even smaller pieces. May be Trinidad will be in 2-3 parts, I don’t know. India may be in 10 parts, I don’t know. His wish. His Maya.
He is a magic man and a music man. Magic and music. He is playing his flute like a music man. That same flute when he holds out like a wand, it’s magic. When he holds his flute to play it, it’s music. Magic, music man. He has no pain, no birth and no death. He is Bhagavan. Sri Rama and Sri Krishna are incarnations of that Lord.
So what I am saying is that we need this kind of a temple and this kind of Satsang. We need Vairagya. We have a long journey towards Vairagya. Go there. Yes, you are a human being. You are a householder, okay, I agree. But too much greed is not good. Too much expectation is not good either. Many people come to Swamiji with expectations and questions. But when you see Swamiji, there no questions.
Yesterday, two ladies offered some check for the Ashram and said, “We had only two questions when we came here. You were ready to give answer. But now, we think that is very hasty. We do not want to ask anything. Give me energy. Last time also we asked questions. That was fulfilled. This time also we can ask questions. We know they will be fulfilled. But asking questions all the time is not good. Give me strength, that is enough. We only want you always. You are our Guru. That is my big wish. Questions and problems will always come. I do not want to ask you. I do not want to waste your time”. I was very happy yesterday.
Like that you can learn what Vairagya is. No use asking personal questions. Anyway, I am very happy.
The Bhajans were also very good. I have been listening the 3-4 hours they were singing. Yesterday, we sang for 3 hours sitting on the stage. Here, no calculation, they were singing for about 4 hours. We installed Navagrahas here. Earlier, I wanted to give Navagrahas and talk about Astrology, but I have no time. My subject is different. I want to explain about Astrology and why people believe in Astrology. Some people do not believe it, but slowly, over the course of time, they will believe too. Maybe I’ll talk about that another time.
Jaya Guru Datta
Come soon. Touch Padukas and go. My flight is leaving, come on. My Garuda is leaving.
