Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – June 26, 2016 – Fluëli Ranft, Switzerland
Compiled by Smt Hira Duvvuri
How many people chant Hanuman Chalisa? They know about Hanuman Chalisa. Many devotees are thinking mistakenly about Hanumanta and Dattatreya. They are both the same. You see Hanuman as a combination of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheswara’s energy. Brahma, Vishnu, and Siva is Dattatreya. That energy incarnation is Dattatreya. Maybe all gods, all dharmas may say it in different ways. Some say God is Cosmic power, some say it is only light, or it is only the five elements, some say, it is only sounds. Such a physical feeling, and invisible feelings.
God concept is very very difficult to understand and explain also. That is why so many Puranas, so many scriptures are there in different religions. Some people say it only causes confusion. It appears like confusion but the final meaning and the result is: God is one. Like our prayers: Tameka devam saranam vrajamaha. I think you know Siveti Soureeti. Learn the meaning of Siveti Soureeti. Then you will understand the meaning of Dharma. So many are asking, what is Dharma? So many times I have explained about Dharma, so many gurus have explained, so many books have explained about Dharma. Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, and so many Swamis, and books, even the Bhagavad Gita have explained Dharma. Still people are in confusion. People think confusion is good. Question-asking becomes a habit, a disease. They only want to ask questions. They do not want to listen to the answers. They do not want to analyze the answers. They only want to analyze the questions. Questions, questions, I don’t understand. It is a mental imbalance, I think. You must think about yourselves. Then you know which is the question and which is the answer. You must analyze yourselves. You must look inside. What happens in our bodies? How tiny are our Indriyas/the sense organs, and Buddhi! Still people are thinking we are living for 300-400 years. Swamiji recommends always, Abhyasam Balam. Go to Abhyasa/experience/practice, tapam/penance or practice. Do practice. Yes. I practice, you say.
Sri Krishna says to Arjuna, always do practice. Arjuna gives answer, yes Swami. I practiced. Still you practice. How do you know how many times I have practiced? I know because you are still all the time asking questions. That is why I tell you to keep practicing. When you stop asking questions, then your practice is over. Till then, you keep practicing.
Same lesson, same song, same tatva/philosophy. Same practice practice, practice, like that you must practice. Do penance. How many years? So many years. if you go to the Puranas, and read the stories of saints, they did penance for 2000-3000 years, different kinds of penance. Vishnu appeared to Sanaka, Sanandana, the brothers, devotees, saints. Swami, we have fulfilled the requirement of our practice. Okay. Thanks. Then they asked, what is Paramatma? Still they are asking. Maha Vishnu says, I think you have not even begun your practice. You must understand. After your questions are stopped, after there is only silence in your mind, and there is no confusion, and only Ananda, Ananda/bliss remains, then your practice is over.
You forget about all kinds of karmas, which is only like a disease. Karma is like a disease. You forget about that disease. Your practice is like a medicine for karma. Otherwise, karma is a disease that grows in your body and mind. After that, the forcible, daily practice if you continue, then the disease will be killed. So then you are purified. See the goldsmith. Gold is always burning, burning. After so many times of burning, the bad gold melts away, and good gold remains. The gold is then very shiny. It does not have any more confusion of black gold inside it. That is why it looks very very fine. When your practice is fulfilled, you are not speaking anything, you are not asking any questions, you are not giving any answer, no eating, sleeping, you are always happy, happy, happy.
This body also you forget. This body also is not permanent. It is only a vehicle, an instrument, this body, we are using this instrument, we use it to live, to travel, to help uplift to Ananda/happiness. Happiness is moksha. Mouna is moksha, silence is moksha. When you get silence, no questions, no doubts, no happy, no sorrow, no pain. We have pain. It is not our pain. It is karma pain. Not my pain. Always I am very happy. I am using this body. We sometimes get pain. Give it some respect, a little respect only. Then pain is very happy. Child is crying. You cuddle and make soothing sounds to it. The child sleeps, when mother does a little drama, then the child sleeps. Pain is like a small child in our bodies. Different categories of pain are our different children. Attend for a little time only. Then it is very happy. Then you do your work. You attend to this karma, a small decoration. You give some medicines, means give it some food, some supply of food, give it some happiness through food. Karma is fulfilled only with small, small happiness.
Ego is not satisfied with small, small happiness, not only small satisfactions, it wants bigger, bigger always. Ego thinks only I am in this world. Ego is only ignorance. If surrounding people give respect to ego, then the ego grows. If others neglect the ego of the person, then he understands that ego gets no respect. If people around him ignore his ego, then he becomes soft. If others give his ego any respect, then he becomes more and more arrogant. If you have a very happy man, he is respected by the people who surround him. He gives happiness back to people. No ego, no price, no problem. More and more people like such a person. If you give respect to happiness, slowly the big disease of ego grows. Ego is like a a big karma. Because big books also say that. Their own state, their own statement must be accepted always. You neglect or ignore such ego. Neglect means Udaaseenam, disregard. It automatically kills it. 50 per cent crack. You neglect ego. If Ahankara comes, neglect it, ignore it. Then if you ignore, ego is automatically killed. If you give attention to ego, it feels happy and more and more ego comes.
Ego is a big subject. I cannot explain. Different chapters, different dramas. I also neglected ego. Today I don’t want that subject. I ignore that subject.
I think tomorrow we will be going to do a big penance. I am very very happy with the last Germany Mouna course.
People wonder, what is this! I wonder. Such good support and practice with Swamiji. I can’t forget. How many people attended in Germany? It was a good experience. That is why you came again. A good experience, sitting with Appaji. Your bad karma is killed. Three days you study yourselves. Self-realization. It is the first lesson, Mouna. It is a very rare course. Nobody does. Only for three or four hours people do. Hours together, days together, to do mouna, requires a lot of patience, bhakti/devotion, sraddha/keen interest, and energy. Some people will be sleeping, no problem. Take your back rests, I recommend. Last time I told you to arrange for backrests. Some people automatically go to sleep. you may sit on the chair, or on the floor. Both are good. As much as possible, lean against the wall as a back rest. You are very lucky, you witnessed today the Sri Chakra Puja, and the Saligrama archana. In the evening, the devotees will be singing. May be I will come and participate.
Jaya Guru Datta
Give flowers and go for lunch. You may also distribute prasadam.
