Nada Yoga discourse of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – September 23, 2016 – China
Compiled by: Smt Hira Duvvuri
Note: a summary written from memory
I am remembering my mother Sri Jayalakshmi Mata. She is my Guru. Yoga Guru. She is also a great musician and musicologist. My forefathers were also great musicians. I hail from a lineage of great musicians. I am remembering my childhood, here sitting in China. From my mother I learned about healing music. I began to propagate this all over the world since 1976. She has answered my prayers for me to come to China. I always wanted to come here. She has arranged this trip for me. I see my mother’s face in all your faces.
Kaliji has my mother’s energy. She is propagating yoga here. She has had many experiences with my mother, in dreams and in waking experience also.
There are many types of Yoga. Hatha Yoga, Dhyana Yoga, and so on. Sage Patanjali has spread the knowledge of Yoga worldwide, and has adapted it to suit people of all countries, cultures, and habits.
China has very good natural, high protein plant-based health food. Ayurvedic food is also available here. Yoga means also controlling food intake, the type of food that is consumed and also the quantity.
Yoga is also to control the mind and the emotions. Don’t get upset and cry if someone quarrels with you, a friend or a partner. You must control your breathing. The breathing gets upset if the mind is disturbed. Control your feelings, thoughts, and also your breathing. It is very important not to let the mind become upset when things go wrong. Control your emotions.
Yoga must be practiced daily. Sitting in Padmasana brings three types of energy to the entire body, the energy of the individual soul, the universal soul, and space. It energizes the entire body. It is difficult at first to sit in Padmasana. It may be painful. But forget the pain and persist in your efforts. If you keep thinking about the pain, it will become worse. It may take more than six months to sit in a perfect Padmasana/lotus sitting posture.
I will show you some easy methods. To ease the muscles, first stand up and lift up high each leg, bending at the knee. Do this for ten minutes. It relaxes the body. Then sit on the floor and bend one knee up and hold it with your arms. Alternate with the other leg. After doing this for ten minutes with each leg, with both knee bent, sitting on the floor, flip up and down gently and rhythmically one bent leg at a time. Then do this action, butterfly-style with both legs. It activates the kidneys. It loosens the muscles and relaxes the legs.
Note: Here the livestream abruptly stopped.
