Yesterday we celebrated Bhogi. Today it is Sankranti. The Sun god is radiating in his sphere and he is spreading his light to others. All the celestial spheres, planets, satellites, and stars, are all constantly moving, including the earth. The earth that we inhabit, is also revolving and rotating. It is in constant motion. We do not feel the movement at all. We are so strongly stuck to the earth due to its gravitational force. When the celestial bodies are all moving, they all remain in their own individual orbits. 4-5 days ago, a scientist posted information about a certain cosmic phenomenon. I liked the post very much. It really exists. Several balls are going around in transit in their orbits, without touching one another. He depicted such an event very beautifully, to show us as an example. He proved that although the whole world is in motion, it really is not. All the sphere in the cosmos appear to be moving at great speed continuously. They are all moving in their fixed durations. As a result, the stars and planets move their positions. Sankranti festival which we celebrated last year, occurs again now. Each time the planet revolves, the cycle repeats. In our lifetime, these revolutions occur only a limited number of times. But since the beginning of Creation, these celestial bodies have been in continuous motion. But they never collide. They may appear as if they approach one another dangerously close, but they do not collide. If a collision should occur, it will be the end of the world. If such an event should occur, we would all be affected by it. We are all a part of this phenomenon. Then, Creation will begin anew.
On this planet earth, this Sankranti festival keeps recurring. The other day I was telling the journalists that a celebration is that where there is no violence. If man engages in cruelty, then it ceases to be a celebration. It causes sorrow. No creature should be made to suffer. Such a celebration pleases God. Mother Goddess or God has created this Universe. What sense does it make, to sacrifice the lives of birds and animals in front of God? It is an abominable superstition followed by some people. Living beings exercise certain control on the expansion of their populations. We do not need to deliberately increase the population by breeding larger numbers, or decrease the numbers by killing. As time requires, Nature balances itself. God takes care of maintaining such a balance even about the human population. He knows where people should be born, and where they should be put to death.
We are born now in this time period. When we get reborn, you will be with me and I will be with you. We are one big group, including all the living creatures existing on this earth at this time along with me. This group will get reborn. I will be there, you will all be around me again. We do not collide against one another. If a collision occurs, it spells danger. When children play, we teach them to be cautious. We warn them to stay within bounds and not to exceed the boundaries. If they fall, they suffer.
There is no need for us to do anything. The earth rotates by itself, even without our knowledge or intention. We do not need to keep it in balance. These spheres are naturally created by God. They are not artificially manufactured. The people are all like individual planets. All creatures are individual entities created by God. That is why there should be no collisions. When two beings collide to cause harm to one another, the soul that is harmed will inflict pain on the one who assaults. The bird or animal that has been killed and eaten, will torment the killer for seven lifetimes. It will not leave the person alone.
The unending troubles faced by humans is a result of this victimization of other species. You suffer now because you have eaten chicken before, you have consumed eggs, and you have eaten mutton (or any other meat). You will never be forgiven for your act. You have no escape from suffering the punishment. We are cursed by the species which have been harmed by us. That evil spell has fallen upon us for the harm inflicted by us. Our wicked intention has caused it to die. That is why it is important to see that only our good influence must affect others. The name of such a good influence is compassion, kindness, or mercy. We must employ these good qualities. Then we remain in our own orbits.
Now, this drone is moving in its own path. It will move as long as it has the energy to propel it. It is running on an artificial motor. Once the battery runs out, it will fall down. Before that happens, the owner must pull it back towards him. He must take care. We are like planets in orbits, colliding against one another. Our owner, God, will protect us before a collision occurs, if we remain under His control. The drone is allowing itself to be controlled by its owner. So it is safe. It will not fall or hit anything in its path. Its force and speed are controlled by the person handling it. Similarly, God has given each of us a limited amount of energy. When he turns the switch on, the drone moves on its own. He does not move it holding on to it with his hands. He keeps changing its direction of movements. We are all like drones. We sit, we eat, we do various difficult tasks. We have feelings, suffer from diseases. The puppet master is pulling our strings. We are like dolls made with leather. This is like a shadow play or a puppet show. Before the era of movies, the puppet shows were quite realistic. The puppets appeared to speak. We are all such puppets. Just as it was not the puppets which spoke, but their master, we are not the ones speaking, but our Lord. He is making us move, He makes us speak. Hence, we play our roles, as He pulls the strings. Poet Potana expressed this very well. God was the one who made Him express Himself.
Those puppets who have attained this realization are somewhat knowledgeable. The puppet that thinks that it is independently functioning is not a wise puppet. In this universe with countless bodies each acting in its path or orbit, each follows its master. The children in the household follow the instructions given by the head of the household. The children go around their parents. Mother, after a while, goes around the children. Mother goes around father. Father goes around his job. Each is pulled by a certain energy. Energy is transferred from one to another.
The man earns, by working at a job, or tilling the land, and gives the income to the wife, to prepare food for the family. The energy of the man thus gets transferred to the woman. When she feeds the family, the energy gets transferred to the children. Only when each individual follows the set path, the individual rises to higher planes of existence. If you veer away from the right path, then you will fail in attaining liberation.
Not only in matters of food consumption, but also in the manner of speech and behavior, one must follow the procedure set by the Creator. Then we move without colliding against one another. The world has been created with such precision that all bodies move without touching one another. Maybe on a rare instance an accident may occur. Within an inch, accidents are frequently averted. This applies in many areas, not only on the streets, with vehicles.
Sankranti is a festival that draws our attention to our regulated movements in life. This is a celebration. Today, we must ponder about our path and our direction. On such festival days we chant the Vishnu Sahasranama, or Lalita Sahasranama, Guru Gita, or the Bhagavad Gita. We spend time in association with Guru. These 24 hours are filled with special energy. It is a day when we recharge ourselves. This is a day when the puppets are given a new coat of paint. This is a day when the broken puppets are repaired and are revived for action. We must use this special time very carefully. Whatever we have learned, or are going to learn, we must establish with firmness.
Grandfather Bhishma taught the Vishnu Sahasranama to Dharmaraja and to all others who were present on the battlefield, after the war ended. Lord Vishnu gave his darshan then. At the conclusion of this teaching, no one could recollect what was taught. Each was asking the other if they remembered what was taught. Each declined. Finally, they all asked Sri Krishna and pleaded with him to teach them again. They all had pinned their attention on Bhishma but not on his teaching. We know that you gave Bhishma your divine darshan, but we were not able to grasp the glory of it.
Sri Krishna, the master of illusion said, someone has recorded all of this. They wondered who it might be. Who has a tape recorder here? An announcement was made. Today, everyone claims to have a recorder in hand. But these recordings do not last. What they required was a permanent recording.
Sahadeva had a clear crystal given to him by Siva. It recorded all the one thousand names. Sahadeva was asked sit beside Bhishma and recall all the names of Vishnu absorbed into the crystal. Sage Vyasa was called to record it.
Whatever Guru teaches, we must all remember. The real tape recorder is our intellect. It is like a clear crystal. It is so powerful.
Vamsi spoke. Bala Swamiji spoke. Swamiji spoke. Will we remember even a word of what was spoken? No. We are only concerned about eating and going home early. On this festival day Swamiji has kept you back here. In between Manini and Sharanya are disturbing you, taking away your mobile phones. You are afraid of what will be done with your phone. All that they are going to do, is to install SGS Posts on your mobile devices. Everyone must participate in this program. It will benefit you a lot. You don’t realize now. Our minds are elsewhere. Our minds are not crystal clear. That is why Swamiji is asking you to chant the Vishnu Sahasranama, Lalita Sahasranama, or the Bhagavad Gita. Chant the Hanuman Chalisa. Whatever you chant, gets recorded in space, which is clear as crystal. The vibrations will keep going around. They will eventually come back to us. Whatever good words we hear on any day, we must listen with a pure mind, with full concentration, and record them in our memory.
There, only Sahadeva had complete concentration. He alone listened with total focus to the praise of Vishnu uttered by grandfather Bhishma. He was able to recite all the thousand names of Vishnu, and Sage Vyasa wrote them down. Otherwise, we would not have access to them.
Today, whatever happened here, you must record in your minds. Your lives will then be fulfilled. Spend the day happily. Do not inflict pain on any creature. Many people invite relatives for a feast, and get into quarrels. Do not raise your voices. Do not recollect past grudges and air them on a festival day. Whatever you have seen here, make a mental picture of it. Render more Guru Seva.

Swamiji just posted a video to SGS Posts. If you see that video, you will understand everything. What is man’s ego? What is the mistake man made? You will get a better understanding if you see the video than if I told you about it. What mistake did man make? How did God create? How was God’s creation in the beginning? Consuming only Sattvic food, the entire world was free of violence and very safe even in Sri Rama’s time. Animals did not inflict violence on other animals. Even tigers were said to eat grass. They are said to have eaten natural food. Who is the reason of all the changes? It is not God. Man is the reason. Who is the reason that the tiger hunts a deer for food? Man is. But the elephant did not change. Elephants still eat Sattvic food. Who taught the animals to kill each other and eat? Man did. I just posted this video to SGS Posts. Whoever has SGS Posts and has Internet on their phones, see the video. There is good connectivity here with 3G and 4G. If you are not getting that kind of connectivity, that is your fate. You are not humans, that is why. Those who are humans are getting Internet on their phone, those are not humans are not.

There are also many who are not humans here. That means, they are those who do not have a phone, who are messy and who do not get the right updates. Some keep the phone only to talk. We had obstacles even when things were better. Even when currency notes were in good circulation, there were problems. Problems are always there – in the past, now as well as in the future. There are always people with problems. But, we need to fix it. The problems are in our hands. We are doing something wrong and missing the point. We should fix that. We do not realize it. Sometimes it is very difficult for some doctors to diagnose some ailments. It may take some time. This body is very big. We do not know which part of the body or which nerve is impacted. Anyway, everyone should get SGS Posts app. Manini and Saranya are both working very hard. They will come up to you saying, “Uncle” or “Aunty” or “Brother”. This is a way to discipline our body. This it the way to discipline humans. Like that, there will be problems when we do undertake good programs. We build a house. On the day of housewarming, not everything will work perfectly. Some lights will not work, some faucets will not work, the mother might slip and fall, the stove will not light up, the cupboard door will not close, the keys will be misplaced. Do such things happen or not? Do they not? The clothes get dirty. The entire suitcase may be missing – it will be right here and everyone is walking all over it, but you do not see it. The necklace will not be found. All this happens on housewarming day. How can you blame the house? “Since we came to this house, the lights do not work, the faucets do not work, the cupboard doors do not close, the necklace is missing, the suitcase is missing, my mother slipped and fell – of course nothing happened to her, but she fell, the stove does not light up, some work is still incomplete, the bulb here is not even fixed, how can I live here?” Like this, there may be some problems during housewarming. Will you break the house down? Will anyone do that? You have to adjust yourselves, this is your house. If you get a blouse stitched, it may not fit perfectly the first day. It does not seem to fit well from any angle. Will you shred it to pieces? Will you beat up the tailor/seamstress? You have to go to a wedding right then in that new sari. You cannot sit happily in that blouse and you are fidgeting because the blouse is uncomfortable. Will you be upset? Will you say that the world is drowning? You will make the effort and go yell at the tailor and fix this one or get a new blouse stitched.
Everything is like this. As soon as you get a new phone, you will just not understand it. We turn it around, kiss it and admire how it looks, but do not know how to turn it on or off, we do not know how to see new posts. We only know to say hello when the phone rings, that is all. We are too embarrassed to ask the kids to help. “We have to ask others? We know everything”. We have such ego, so we do not get help. We just keep the phone in our hands. We feel insulted asking people we know, yet we do not know how to use it. Why even bother with the phone, it is just garbage. Throw the phone in the gutter, that will be better. Place it under the government bus, it will become flat like bread. Why do you need the phone? You do not know how to use it. Learn how to use the phone. It is not Brahma Vidya (knowledge of the supreme). There are many who even learned Brahma Vidya and went to heaven. This device was only invented by man. It is easy. It is quick to learn, it only needs two or three steps. Get a phone that is good. Then, there is no need to yelled at by Swamiji, you can get Swamiji’s blessings instead. You will think, “Why do you not help me get me SGS Posts. I just want that app. Why get yelled at by Swamiji?”
There are many apps available for the phone. I am telling people who have good phones. There is a Yoga app, there is Kavacha Manjari and plenty of other apps for the phone. You may wonder if this alone is Swamiji’s job. Yes, it is. The entire world is running on the Internet. All programs and apps are in one place. We have Bonsai, the Shuka Vana birds, Lalitha Sahasra Nama, Vishnu Sahasra Nama, Bhajana Mala etc. All important things are available on the phone. What else do we have? Hanuman Chalisa. Those who have the apps should tell me what apps we have. Not laddu or Putarekulu (Andhra sweet snack), tell me other names. We have Guru Gita, Bhagavad Gita, Shata Shloki Ramayana, Bhaktimala website. Why do we have so many links? There is a Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji Facebook page. If I post on that page, a normal post gets more than 300,000 likes. The count always runs in the hundreds of thousands (lakhs), never less. There are hundreds of thousands of people worldwide seeing these posts. Why are you losing this opportunity? Some others are all seeing and benefiting. How many of you are seeing the Sri Ganapathy Sachhcidananda Swamiji page, raise your hands? You must like the posts. Others go and like the page to subscribe. Someone go and help them. You should like the post and even comment. I wanted to give a prize to the first 10 people to like a post, but none of our kids are in the top 10. There are people that are so ready for the post that they immediately hit the Like button once it is posted. I do not know who will get the prize. I told the kids here that I would take them to America if they are in the top 10. The American kids are in the top 10. Since the kids in America got it, they are asking me to take them to India. I told them, the prize was for Indian kids. These are all wonderful paintings. They are done by a professor who despite being elderly does a great job. Swamiji himself does the repainting. He gets these paintings done by constantly giving kids instructions over the phone. Swamiji tells them what the painting should be like.
[Pujya Bala Swamiji said: What kind of post should go out each day, what it should say, is all determined by Swamiji. He spends 2 hours each day on this. This is not trivial. It is very surprising and delightful to hear about the experiences of those who are following these posts. Some person thought he had enough of his life. He was not getting a job, his wife left him, no one at home cared for him and he wanted to end his life. He got a message right that day on Swamiji’s page. He saw that and decided he wanted to live and serve Swamiji. The day after, he got a job and his wife came back. And now he is happy and comfortable. This is one person’s experience. Another person was disappointed when his visa was rejected twice. He thought getting rejected a third time would stall all his plans and he would unfit to do anything. That day, he got a message on this page that said one has to be brave and work through obstacles and pray. He felt that Swamiji would be with him. The third time, the same people that rejected him gave him a visa without an interview even. These are examples only. We get hundreds or thousands of such experiences each week. Swamiji sends those messages to help us each day. We never know which message we need in a given situation. We should spread the message and help others too. Swamiji’s intent is that these messages help us every day. That is why Swamiji is making so many arrangements.]

Today’s video is very nice. Tell me what it says. I did not tell you fully. Did you see the video on SGS Posts? Right, it is about human ego. See the video and you will know. Once upon a time, in Krita Yuga, humans and other beings coexisted nicely. They would only skin dead animals for clothing to keep themselves warm. They would not kill the animals. They used to get plenty of fruits and water to eat. They got plenty of grains that we get today. What we have today is what has been there since then. So, they ate to their heart’s content. They would live and sleep happily with the other animals. Man later developed ego slowly. He wanted to dominate over all other beings. Each Yuga, he got distant with more and more animals. Finally, the animals learned from us to eat other animals. The tiger did not know to eat deer. Even today, we see videos where a lion protects a baby deer or a tiger nurtures an elephant calf. Over time, man due to his ego, oppressed other animals and dominated over all other beings with arrogance. Because that ego entered man, all beings got destroyed. If those beings have to be protected, man should let the ego go. That is the intent behind this video on SGS Posts. It is very nice. I had to communicate it within a few seconds. Swamiji’s messages do not go on for an hour. They are short. They are not like the scriptures that we barely have the patience to hear. Swamiji’s messages are like Vitamin tablets. A small quantity is enough because it is nutritious. What is the use of a big bowl of food? Most of it will not benefit our body. We should eat moderately. Some people eat up to their throat until the food comes back into the mouth. They drink a little water to push it down again. You should not eat like that. It will cause illnesses. You must leave with a little hunger. Stop eating your meal when you think you can eat just a little more. Only then can one be healthy. Drink plenty of water, but stop eating just when you feel like, “I could eat a little more sambar rice”, or “I could eat a little more curd rice”. Those who stop eating at that point will be healthy, they will not get any disease. It is not good to eat till you burp. That means the air in the stomach comes out since there is no space in the stomach. There are 5 different Pranas (life energies) in the body. There is a Prana responsible for digestion. There is a Prana for our protection, a Prana to help blood circulation, a Prana to awaken our reasoning. There are 5 Pranas in our body. There is also a Prana that helps the heart circulate blood.
Mahiravana had his life in the 5 Pranas. He was a big illusionist. Hanuman had built a fort with his tail. The war was to resume next morning. While the war was going on, it was Ravana’s evil trick to use Mahirvana. He sought Mahiravana’s help who in turn assured to help him. He sent some demons from Patala, including a demon called Mooshika and five of six others. They are all like small rats. The rats today are like those demons. Even a small hole is enough for millions of them to come in. We should use repellants so they go away.
We are struggling so much in Shuka Vana, Lord Datta alone knows how much of a struggle it is. The rats always find a way in. We have some tiny little birds. Such birds are impossible to find. If we lose them, we can never get them again. You go to Shuka Vana, but you do not see some rare, precious birds. We do not even show these birds in Shuka Vana. They are just 2 inches long. Swamiji keeps them inside his chamber. I take care of them very carefully. If there are rats, those birds will die of fear. We have about 140 species of birds at Shuka Vana. Nowhere in the world will you find such a collection. We have 2000 parrots and 140 different parrots. Two or three of the species were already extinct. Among the ones we have, if we lose any species, they will be lost forever. People brought me those birds themselves. I did not go to them or make phone calls to ask for those birds. They saw our website and repeatedly called our children to request them to take the birds. Some important Muslim people came and gave us those birds. “We do not want the birds, we are unable to take care of them”. The birds cannot stand the smell of butchered chicken or egg. We do not know they got those birds. “We cannot tell you how we got these birds even if we lose our lives, but please take them”. There are many poor people among them. I gave them some money too. The birds were their livelihood. Parrots are my life, they are heart, my blood is my Nada. The blood in my veins is music. Nada keeps flowing in my body. The sound inside by body is percussion. This entire body is very fascinating. I cannot give you the details.
Ravana thought about his situation. The demon in Patala (nether worlds) is called Ahiravana or Mahiravana. Ravana thought about what he had to do. He incited Ahiravana saying, “Do whatever you can and do something to Rama and Lakshmana. I will die tomorrow morning, that is Brahma’s curse. That is why, do what you can let this night pass, you can do whatever you want tomorrow. Take away Rama and Lakshmana somehow”. Ahiravana said, “O brother, do not worry, I will bring them and offer them as sacrifice. Do not worry. I will take care of them tonight”
After a long battle, Hanuman was very tired. He built a fort with his tail and sat on top constantly chanting Sri Rama’s name and watching all around. That was not an ordinary tail. It was like a diamond fort. No one could go inside, no one could break in or intrude. No one could enter that fort. He kept chanting Sri Rama’s name.
Ahiravana knew this, “Hanuman is protecting Rama and Lakshmana. He is guarding them. As long as he is there, it is impossible for us to go inside. What to do?” He sent for two small demons. One was like a mouse and the other was like a needle. He first sends the needle-like demon. The demon looks to go inside the fort. The needle pricks Hanuman’s tail and Hanuman subconsciously moves his tail as if driving away a mosquito. He dies under the weight of Hanuman’s tail. Then he sends the mouse like demon who manages to make a hole right away. As soon as he puts his head inside, Hanuman places his entire weight on the demon. Hanuman knows that these are all demons. He puts his entire weight on the demon who dies right away. He then feels confident that nothing else will happen. He is lost in chanting the name of Sri Rama with his eyes closed. He is not asleep, but he loses body consciousness in chanting the divine name. As he continued to chant, he fell asleep.
As soon as that happened, Ahiravana himself arrived. He used his magic powers to go inside the fort. He went inside with a small box and with his magic turned Rama and Lakshmana into tiny dolls. He put them in the box and took them to Patala. As soon as he did that, Hanuman felt something strange. He opened his eyes and saw that they were gone. He feels very remorseful. As soon as day breaks, Ravana had to die. If that does not happen in Brahma Muhurtha (early morning hours before sunrise), Ravana will not die. See this trick that Ravana tried to play. Hanuman feels unbearably bad. He knows they were taken to Patala (nether worlds). No one had to tell him. No need for a Sampati to tell him the whereabouts of Sri Rama and Lakshmana.
He goes to Patala right away. There is a story that I cannot tell you now. You will listen to it in the Saptaha that will take place right here. That is such a good chocolate that I have to safeguard it for some time. That is such a good story. It is very precious. I will you later. Finally, going to Patala, Ahiravana’s sister tells Hanuman that her brother’s life is in the Pancha Pranas – in the five beetles in a cave. Ahiravana placed each Prana in a beetle. That is Pancha Prana (five Pranas).
That Pancha Prana is in my body to propagate God’s word. If you enquired before Swamiji came here, you would have wondered if Swamiji would be able to go on the tours. “How can Swamiji travel with so much fever? He is coughing so much, he has so much fever?” He could barely move. He gave rest to one Prana and now another one is moving. Like that, each of the 5 pranas has taken on a form. The sister tells Hanuman “Your one form alone is not enough. You know what forms you need to take. You are Paramatman. You know everything. Each Prana needs one form. That is when Hanuman becomes Panchmukha (five-faced) Anjaneya. There Panchmukha Anjaneya is in a subtle form. He is not gigantic like we imagine. He may have shown the form later, but he did not have that massive form there. In that (subtle) form, he killed each beetle (Bhramara). As soon as the 5 pranas are gone, Ahirvana dies. Before day breaks, Hanuman brings Rama and Lakshmana back. That is a big story. Since we cannot leave our Gods near the demons, he brought them back right away, and placed them where they were and resumed chanting Sri Rama’s name. The day breaks, one episode is over. If this work is done, this is the first place I will come to after the Vrata Deeksha (Swamiji may not be traveling for a year starting from his 75th birthday). Mr. Murthy are you listening?
