The importance of Kriya yoga in life
Until now the children who have learnt Yoga displayed Yogāsanas they have learnt. Applauding them is not enough, we too must make it a point to incorporate Yogāsanas, more especially Pranayama into our daily routine. These days many new types of diseases are making rounds. Infections are aplenty due to the increased bacteria. Pollution is rampant in air, water, travel, food etc. A mosquito bite can cause infections. When mosquito falls into the food we get diseases. If mosquito enters the mouth or the nose we get diseased. At times, even looking at mosquito from close quarters can cause infections. We remain unaware of when a mosquito would have fallen into the veggies or greens sold in the markets. Hence the risk of falling sick perpetually exists.
Yoga is an excellent preventive against such infections and diseases. In the normal course, the person is prone to heart diseases. Secondly come the stomach related disorders. Then comes skin diseases followed by joint pains and arthritis. We are then affected by back pain, hand pain, knee pain and the like. Disorders related to eye, ear, sinusitis – in this way body gets affected.
The single remedy for all these ailments is Kriya yoga!
Even after practice of Kriya yoga it is likely that the person will be afflicted with disease, but then, the disease will spread very very gradually. The severity will be minimal. With little medication cure is possible. However, where the person does not regularly practice Pranayama, medicines too may prove ineffective.
It is imperative for every Datta devotee to mandatory learn Kriya yoga and practice it regularly. Anyone who desires to be close to Appaji must necessarily learn and practice Kriya yoga. Even those who have taken certificates from Swamiji have to practice Kriya yoga daily without fail. There is no excuse.
Kriya yoga is the solution for all mental disorders, anxieties, depressions, mood swings. At times for some unknown reason the person lacks appetite and experiences sleeplessness. When in Swamiji’s presence he feels comforted, but soon thereafter sinks into depression. For all such problems Pranayama accompanied by Yoga exercises is the solution. Kriya yoga consists of both – hata yoga exercises and Pranayama.
There are many efficient teachers here in ashram, but students are limited. There are lady teachers and male teachers who take separate classes for women and men. All of you please raise your hand and take vow- ‘we will practice Kriya yoga. We will attend classes and also obtain certificates. Through this we will free ourselves from diseases’. Now all of you have promised in presence of Datta. Be cautious. He will chase you and catch you if you fail to live up to it. Isn’t it shameful that you can’t even participate in a short course which lasts for just 3 days? Now that you have promised, stick to it.
Through Kriya yoga children acquire good knowledge. Sick obtain freedom from disease. Peace rules the home. Understanding improves between family members. As such irrespective of age, it is mandatory to practice Kriya yoga. Even those who have undergone operations and who can’t do exercises can continue Pranayama. What is it that prevents you from continuing Pranayama? Those who have undergone knee replacement can sit in the chair and practice those exercises that are best suited for the upper portion of the body. Hence there is no excuse.
