Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – 80th Birthday Paada Yatra – May 18, 2022 – UPH, Mysore
Compiled by Sindhuri
After acquiring the lessons from Guru, there was a system of offering Guru dakshina. The disciples only would ask the preceptor. Those disciples who ask devoutly would attain siddhi and those who ask stubbornly were subjected to tests.
It’s very difficult to satisfy Guru. Instead of asking Guru what HE wants, we should understand ourselves what to offer to Guru.
Today everyone is happy. I feel like I am in Mekedatu now – in Brahmakunda. I am seeing the Kaveri jala devata. Abhisheka was done with Kaveri river. It’s said that Abhisheka done in this manner is equivalent to offering the sacred bath. May the devotion for you and Balaswamiji be there in the supreme state always. Attaining devotion is very very rare. Some good karma from previous births causes devotion. That leads to jnana and that inturn leads to vairaagya and finally one attains salvation. We must practice that mentally instead of talking externally.
There will be many tests in devotion. There will be many questions in Jnana. After one gets vairaagya, all problms end. There is no looking back after. If we serve Guru with true devotion, one attains steadfast vairaagya.
We must offer seva in thought, word and speech. Bhakti is of many types. It’s not just one way. We are seeing Guru physically. So we must serve in several ways. Guru resides in Anandadhama. (Anandadhamani cideka rase….) I always remember this verse from Bhagavatam.
God resides in the entire body. The path to reach HIM is through bhakti. Merging in him is vairagya. Rama took birth but he had to end the incarnation. Krishna, Matsya and all incarnations had to end. The Guru incarnation – Datta incarnation exists eternally from the beginning of the creation. The second incarnation that exists eternally is Narsimha Avatara. Datta who is the form of Sadguru never disappeared. Narasimha exists everywhere. Hence we say Narsimha Guru. All incarnations are the best. But Datta and Narasimha are there eternally. Hence mainly in our Peetham, we have Datta. In Kaliyuga, Lord descended as Venkata Ramana Swamy. The direct incarnation is Guru’s incarnation. You all exist in this contemporary period. We feel the devotees of Rama’s period and Krishna’s period are lucky. Are you not lucky too for being with me?
You may have committed sins. You have various problems – marriage problems etc. All those whose problems ended and whose problems have not ended remained with me. I will see everyone as Datta. But don’t greet everyone as Datta since we are born with a karmic body. We need to be careful externally.
Why not Pada Yatra from Haridwar and do Abhisheka with Ganga river? It will happen too. Some devotee came on cycle to Mysore. For HH to be with you for 100 years, Why don’t you bring ice from Himalaya and offer it as Abhisheka? I am talking about bhakti. Also, just because you offer that in 100th year, I should be with you for 100 years??
I love water, agni (fire) and Vayu (air)a lot. I like all Pancha bhutas. I felt like I was doing bath in Kaveri river. Now all Ashramas are constructing pool for HH. Shiva likes Abhisheka a lot.
In Jnanavapi Varanasi also the Abhisheka is happening. It’s happening in Nanda Gokulam, Srirangapatna etc also. We must find out with surveys about temples and we must understand them.
Let all be good. Let good buddhi arise in all. Let everyone live in peace. Let’s live in harmony although there is diversity in us. If we sit in a boat, each and everyone should be good else everyone will suffer. The blessings for this Pada Yatra is – May all be good. Let birds and animals be happy. Let everyone have their fortune for themselves! Let their merit be with themselves!
SriBalaswamiji: All of you have an opportunity – you can get the kalasha for Rs 10000 and take it home. This is Datta Ganga. This is for bathing and not drinking. Those who take during bath, all skin diseases will end and all diseases will end. The money that is obtained from this will be used for the five causes of the Pada Yatra.
