Speeches of HH Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji on Hanuman Jayanthi at Mysore and New Delhi, June 3, 2013
Speech at KSH Sannidhi, Mysore – June 3, 2013
Jai Bolo Sadgurunath Maharaj ki Jai
Today is the most auspicious day for all of us. It is Hanuman Jayanthi in the month of Vaishaka (Vaisakh month is the second month in North Indian calendars and calendars followed in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra), in the dashami Tithi / lunar date. We have celebrated the first Hanuman Jayanthi in the presence of Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman and Bayalu Anjaneya Swami. After the consecration of Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman by Sri Swamiji, this is the first Hanuman Jayanthi we are celebrating. While doing the ablutions to Hanuman, we all were wondering how are the ablutions happening to the gigantic Hanuman idol on the top? Hanuman did the ablutions to Himself. Mother Nature has done the ablutions to Lord Hanuman. The weather is also on the cooler side. Let all of you be like this, both happy and peaceful. May Lord Hanuman enhance Guru devotion in you. On this occasion, I pray to Hanuman to bless all of you with knowledge, health, and wealth. Even if we are blessed with 10% of devotion with which Sri Hanuman served lord Rama, it is enough. Saying so, even 10% is more for us. Hanuman is 100% devotion. If we get 1% of His devotion, then this life of yours can be termed as a purposeful life. Hanuman is personification of devotion. It is very happy to celebrate Hanuman Jayanthi today in the divine presence of Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman.
We all have chanted Sri Hanuman Chalisa. According to Hanuman Chalisa, Lord Sri Hanuman will bless all those who pray Him, with Sri Rama’s devotion. I am very happy that we have celebrated Hanuman Jayanthi in the divine presence of Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman. He is Sundarakaram (beautiful form), Who is vital for Sundarakanda. He is the Self (Atman) Himself, He is Prana bhoota (form of life force), to bless you all with the Guru devotion and Rama devotion.
In a few hours from now, I will be travelling to Badrinath. Sri Swamiji is taking part in the Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations held at 85 feet lord Hanuman at Trinidad. I am of the feeling that Sri Swamij is subtlely present here in Mysore. Let the Badrinath pilgrimage be successful. It is Saraswati Pushkar. I am going there to take a bath in the Pushkar and bring back the sacred water to do ablutions to Sri Swamij padukas and Sri Hanuman. I am praying Lord Hanuman to give you all the fruit of the Badrinath pilgrimage.
Worshipping of Hanuman with the vada and appam is very peculiar. No God is worshipped with food items. Annarchana is performed, Shiva is worshipped with rice and during Navaratri festivities we have watched Sri Swamiji worship Mother Goddess with rice. Why should we worship Hanuman with vada and appam? The real reason is when Lord Hanuman sees the vada, He remembers the Rama mudra (ring). Seeing Rama mudra in vadas when we worship Lord Hanuman, He would flashback in Ramayana and bless us all. Seeing the sweet dish appam, Hanuman remembers the Sita Mata’s chudamani (oranament of Sita Mata). When lord Hanuman is worshipped with vada and appam, Hanuman is happy that we made Him remember Rama and Sita. He takes this as a reason to bless us. This is the real reason behind worshipping lord Hanuman with vada and appam and that is what we have done today. It is customary to perform such worship to Hanuman on this auspicious day. We have done Panchamrita (mixture in appropriate quantity of honey, sugar, milk, yogurt, and ghee) ablutions , special worship, and Sahasranama (1000 names) worship in the presence of Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman. I pray to Hanuman, may Hanuman bless all and bless the well-being of the world. May auspiciousness be bestowed on the world.

Today is a very auspicious day. It is a very good day for all. Today is Hanumat Jayanthi. Hanuman Jayanthi is celebrated on Vaishaaka Poornima in Northern India & on Vaishaaka Krishna Dashami in Southern India. Today, as it was just announced, this is the first Hanuman Jayanthi after the installation of 70 feet Karya Siddhi Hanuman at Mysore Ashrama. After performing abhisheka there, today morning, I have brought with me the fruit of the abhisheka, the merit of the Hanuman Vrata here, for all of you. May you all have the grace of Sadguru & Hanuman bestowed on you.
The children here were singing hymns, nama sankirtana. In this world, there are many Great Holy Men. Great Men were there, they are present in todays time & they will always remain here. Every Maha Purush, Master has a speciality. If we speak about Sri Swamiji, what is our Sadguru’s speciality? Even those who have recently known Sri Swamiji will say, “Nama Sankirtana is Sri Swamiji’s speciality.” Sri Swamiji is known by Nama Sankirtana. From where did Nama Sankirtana start? Lord Hanuman initiated it. Hanumanji is the first devotee to grace us all through the path of Nama Sankirtana.
Hanumanji has a strong liking for Nama Sankirtana (singing the divine names of the Lord). When me meet new friends, we enquire about their language – Hindi, English, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, which language should we speak in. Then the friend reverts, “hindi; telugu; kannada; tamil,” & then you communicate in that particular language. If you have to speak to the Lord, which language to use? In which language must one speak to the Lord. The Lord knows all. A, B, C, D has all come from Him. Hindi syllables also we have got from Him. Bhagavati Mata Goddess is Bhasha Roopa. She is the form of language. We have received all languages from her. But, which language should we communicate in? The answer may be Deva Bhasha, but, it is not. Mantra bhasha is the language. Speak through mantra. We may not know mantra? What to do? We have not received any upadesha. What to do? No need of thinking this way. Nama Sankirtana is the Lord’s language. Nama Sankirtana is Sadguru’s language – mantra bhasha. If we call the Lord through Nama Sankirtana, He will surely listen.
I recently visited Vijayawada. We had then called up Vijayawada from Mysore, to inform them that we would celebrate Sri Swamiji’s Birthday Celebrations there. We got a call from Vijayawada, requesting us not to come. They said,” This is not the right time to visit Vijayawada. Please don’t come now.” We questioned why – we want to come & from there the response is,” Sri Swamiji don’t come.” Does anyone refuse like this? Why? They said, ” It is too hot in Vijayawada Swamiji, the weather is not good.”
Then we replied, “No problem, we want to come, we will come.” It was 34 degrees in Mysore & 43 degrees in Vijayawada. 34 or 43, the numbers are the same.
Then, we reached Vijayawada. On the 26th May, at Vijayawada, at 47 degrees, we set out for 6 km long Nagara Sankirtana. We left Ashrama early in the morning at 5am. From that day, till the 30th, a Sapthaah was also held there. And it was not hot at all at Vijayawada. We felt as if, we were at Mysore. This is the glory of Nama Sankirtana. We left from Vijayawada to Mysore & the weather was the same at both the places. Now, it is Delhi’s turn. Thats why I am here, to pray for all of you.
Practise hymns, Nama Sankirtana daily. We tend to forget. To forget is human nature. To forget is also a good sign. We should forget any pain or bad experience that we undergo. But, singing the glory of the Lord, nama smarana, Guru smarana should never be forgotten. Sumiran term is used for Hanuman Chalisa. Every day spend time for Nama Smarana. You can do it internally in your heart, but, do it. Do Manas Puja. Remember God in your heart. Some persons think, when we will be in trouble, we will think about the Lord then. Now, we are very happy. Don’t think like this. Remembering God when you are happy is a siddhi – penance. When in sorrow, everyone remembers God. If you remember the Lord when your happy, your happiness will grow.
Today, I was refering at Mysore, from Dwaraka, I will be going to Badri. There people are thinking, in one yatra, Sri Balawamiji is covering two Kshetras. ‘Dwarka in Gujarat & Badri in Uttarakand!’ This is what they think. Then, I explained that Dwarka is in Delhi, it is also a kshetra & it will also develop like the Gujarat Dwaraka Kshetra. How does a place become a kshetra? With the power of the Lord, the grace of the Sadguru & our Nama Sankirtana, makes it a Kshetra. Vibrations increase due to Nama Sankirtana. To increase the vibrations, practise Nama Smarana. I am very glad to know that, everyone together conducts Nama Smarana here, every week. Anagha ashtami vrata, medical camp & mass anna dana was also conducted. With such a vision only, Sri Swamiji has blessed us with this Ashrama. We all must utilise it well. By utilising, we mean, that we must learn. Learn & practise it as a sadhana. Don’t do sadhana for only one day. Do it everyday. Everyday do smarana. You all will feel good. This way we communicate with God. We can communicate through the language of silence – Mauna Bhasha. Otherwise, mantra bhasha or Nama Sankirtana can also be used to communicate with the Lord. Not by mere speaking, but by Sadhana only something can be accomplished. Therefore, practise Nama Sankirtana everyday.
May you all be bestowed with the divine blessings & grace of Guru always. Today, just had a thought, that we will conduct a Saptaha, here at Dwarka, Delhi. Many people of this place are meeting here. Our Datta Temple also here at Delhi. Amma, Shyamalah Pappu, is conducting programmes well. Everyone please visit, Datta Mandir. Please have darshan. Never forget Lord Datta. This Datta temple is one of the Navanath Kshetras. (Here Sri BalaSwamiji is referring to Gam Dattanath Temple at Swaroop Nagar, Delhi.)
In June, we will be celebrating Sri Swamiji’s birthday. Please come. This is an invitation to you from our side.
Jai Guru Datta. Sri Guru Datta.
Tomorrow morning from here, I will be leaving for Badrinath. At Badrinath will have darshan of Saraswati River. A place of sangama – in Gujarat & Rajasthan, is where we will have the darshan of the Saraswati River. When I reach there & take bath in the Saraswati River, I will remember you all. May you all also get the merit of bathing in the Saraswati River.
Jai Guru Datta.
