Today is the First Anniversary of our Hanuman Dwarka Mandir. Just as we mentioned yesterday, one year just went by. Today, we all have gathered here, to celebrate the annual function. Pundits of Yajurveda, Rigveda & Sama veda, have come here & are performing Homas/Havans for two days. We all had the darshan of the Maha Poornahuti (auspicious conclusion by offering to fire) of the havans. Then, abhisheka (worship through offering water/milk) was performed to the Lord with the water in the Kalasha’s (metalpot of brass, copper, silver or gold), placed in the Puja. This is a practice followed on anniversaries, which are taught by our Vedas & Shastras. All the vedic traditions followed have meaning & hold significance in the path of devotion, the worldly matters & in the path of Yoga. These have deep meanings, which should be understood. What is the significance of the Kalasha, what is in the Kalasha, what is the significance of water in the Kalasha, what is the significance of the fruit kept on the Kalasha? All these have a scientific meaning. This we all must know.
We were performing the Abhisheka of Lord Shiva today. Had it in my heart that Lord Shiva’s darshan at the Dwarka Ashram, should be taken. Today, it materialized. Today, is Karthika Somavara. It is very auspicious. The power of Karthika Somavara cannot be described through Vedas & Shastras. Today, is the last Karthika Somavara of this year.
It was very nice to be here with all of you on this day & perform abhisheka to Lord Shiva. During abhisheka, had a thought, if our Sadguru Swamiji was also here, it would have been very nice. This, I thought. What happened? An Omkara was formed on Lord Shiva. That appeared after the abhisheka, after the Shiva Linga was cleant. There are no chances to think that somebody had written on it. An Omkara to appear after cleaning the Shiva Linga & during abhisheka. This is known as Pratyaksha Nidarshana. Lord Shiva is present in the form of Sadguru here. Pray with all your heart, devotion & sincerity. He will come.
Lord Shiva is described as, ‘Paroksha Priya iva hiDevah‘. Gods & Goddesses, do not appear physically, easily.
ParokshaPriya iva hi devah, Pratyaksha Dwishaah
They provide psychological insights (Paroksha), but, do not appear physically (Pratyaksha) very soon. They do not want to be Pratyaksha, appear in physical form.
If they appear, in front of us, what will happen? What happened to Arjuna? He was unable to see. In the Vibhuti Yoga, Arjuna prayed that the Lord appear in the Universal Form (Vishwa Roopa Darshan). In the eleventh chapter, in the Vishwaroopa Sandarshana Yoga, when the Lord took the Universal Form, Arjuna was unable to see it. He was crying. He was scared & he prayed that he could not witness the Lord in this form. He prayed that he wanted to see the Lord in a peaceful & beautiful form – Kiritinam Gadinam Chakra Hastam. He prayed he wanted to see the Lord in the Chaturbuja Roopa, i.e. with four arms. Arjuna asked the Lord,” Who are you?”
The Lord’s first words were – Kalo-smiLoka-kshaya-krt pravrddho, meaning, “I am Time (Kala).”
Why the form of Kala? The Lord envelopes & takes everyone within Kala. We should not say,the Lord destroys (Samhara). He dissolves (Laya) all. There is a difference in Laya & Samhara. Laya is like Omkara – Om……….. The Omkara is not samhara. The Omkara is dissolved in the Supreme Reality (Para Brahma), similarly, the Lord dissolves & takes all into Himself. The word ‘Lena’ (meaning, to take) in hindi, has been derived from Laya. The Kala Roopa (the form of time) is the Universal Form (Vishwa Roopa). We cannot witness the Lord in the Universal Form. Therefore, the Lord appears in the form of Sadguru. He appears, so that we all have His darshan. Vishwa Roopa is Sadguru & Sadguru is Vishwa Roopa.
During the Abhisheka, what did we do? I thought that there should be a vision & insight (Nidarshan) of Sadguru. Why does the Lord give an insight & vision? Some people believe this to be drama. They believe that what you think, that you see. But, there is a difference between having a feeling in the heart & seeing the same materialize in reality. When we see, we believe. The Lord is ‘Paroksha Priya’, He wants to be seen. Some times, He appears among us. We must catch the Form, witness that Form, understand the form. Today, the Omkara appeared.
Yesterday, we all chanted the Omkara. Yesterday, before I came here, my throat was fine. After being seated in the Prayer Hall, there was some uneasiness in the throat. “Kich Kich” in the throat. Thought, what to do? Then, remembered to chant the Omkara. We all chanted the Omkara together. The ‘kichkich’ in the throat went away due to chanting of Omkara. “Oh! This is the power of Omkara.” The Omkara Mantra has the power to bless us with good health. Due to that power, we chanted the Hanuman Chalisa, heard the discourse. The powerof ‘Omkara’ is there at Hanuman Dwarka Mandir, this I thought. Today, during Abhisheka also it was Omkara that appeared. It appeared very gradually. First the 3 number came, then the snake type tail came, then the moon type figure (Chandramaa) appeared on the top, then the dot (bindu) appeared. This all was seen with the naked eye. The Lord is Pratyaksha Dweshi, i.e. He does not want to appear physically. Still, He was merciful, blessed us & appeared in the physical form.
Today is Karthika Somavara. In North India, in the Hindu month of Shravana, abhisheka & worship is performed to Lord Shiva. Here, the month of Karthika does not hold much significance, still, lighting lamps in the month of Karthika, having darshan of lamps is very auspicious.
Light one lamp or just light a lamp in the house of a poor. The one who does not have a lamp, gift him one. Meaning, if he does not have anythingto eat, give him something to eat, if he does not have clothes, give him clothes. We have lots of old clothes in our house. We sell the old clothes & in exchange we buy a mixer grinder. Otherwise, we buy vessels & utensils. This is not right. When these vessels will become old, we will sell these to buy something else. Give your old clothes to persons lying in the road. The winter season has started here. Donate clothes. Worship & see the Lord in all. Have darshan of Sadguru in all. The person is there on the road, sitting, he is unable to sleep because of the cold, he is in great difficulty, cover him with some clothes. Witness, how happy he will be. Seek darshan of the Lord, in his happiness. You will then have darshan of Sadguru. He will personify, appear physically there & bless you.
Lord Shiva teaches us all. He roams like a monk (Bikshu) in the Himalayas. He is asked – “You roam in the Himalayas, adorning the sacred ash (vibhuti/bhasma), You are not wearing enough clothes, there is nothing to eat, You are like a monk. You have kapala (skull) in your hand, You are not wearing Padukas (footwear), You are roaming here & there, what can You give? What do You have? What should I pray to You? So, I will give You. Feel like giving You something. I don’t want to take anything from You. It seems You have nothing. You appear like a monk. But, holding to the dust of Your holyfeet, Indra (King of Gods), Agni (The Fire God), Yama (Lord of Death), Varuna (The Water God), Vayu (The Air God), Kuber (Lord of Wealth), became rulers & commanders (Adipathi), they became the caretaker of people (Lokapal), they were blessed with the eight supernatural powers (Ashta Siddhi), they were blessed with the nine treasures (Nava Nidhi). It means You have all. One thing, You do not have. What is that? My heart & mind, is not with You. That is still with me. So, take it, I give my heart & mind to You.“ “This is not with You, this is still with me. My mind; will be with me only. I offer You my mind. Please accept it.” This means, let my heart become Yours. Let me also become Yours. When my mind will become Yours, then, I will also be Yours.
Like this, we must pray. Offer Lord Shiva & Sadguru Your heart & mind. Tan, Mann, Dhan, i.e the body, mind & wealth, says Tulsi Das Goswami Maharaj (a Poet Saint). Offer service with the body, offer the heart, if you have wealth, utilize it for service. Virtues & talents (Guna) are also wealth. We call it Guna Dhana. Utilize the Guna Dhana for the Lord’s service. Do not think of what you do not have. Think of what you have. Search for it. With this, let me offer service. Think like this. Offer service with such an attitude. The Lord appeared in Omkara form, in a subtle form today. It is not a small thing for the Lord to appear physically. We all have received the full fruits (poorna phala) of the celebration of the anniversary rituals.
Like this, keep visiting Hanuman Dwarka Mandir. Devotees are taking care of the temple. We have a very good priest here. He is offering services with sincerity.
Sri Balaswamiji instructs devotees in telugu, kannada & tamil to offer services in the temple.
This is not code language. This is our own language. I am speaking for the devotees in their own language. What did I just say – Tamil people, Telugu people & Kannada people, are coming to the Ashrama. Continue coming. Continue the services here. You all learn speaking in telugu, kannada & tamil. There was no secret that was shared. From today, take an oath to learn telugu.
Let us all take an oath, till the time we all are there, let us keep having darshan of the Lord. Let us all have a life with full term. Let all the generations to come, also seek & be blessed with the darshan of the Lord. Pray like this to the Lord.
“Our temple should become eternal.” It is eternal. That which is eternal, why pray for its eternal existence? Let devotion be eternal in our families. Pray like this. To offer such prayers, we celebrate the annual anniversary. We celebrated the yearly festival. What should we pray? Pray that such an event must happen the next year, the event must happen for 100 years, let this event happen for thousand years, let this happen always, let this happen till the Sun, moon & the galaxy of stars exist & if there is anything after that, then too. So, till the time we all are there, let devotees come to the temple, have darshan. All those who have darshan & pray, let their desires be fulfilled. Like this, all of you pray. Let the grace of Hanuman be on all of you always. This is our prayer.
Today, we have to proceed to Swaroop Nagar (Gam Dattanatha Kshetra) also. Our very old temple is there. In the evening, there will be archana to Lord Datta. Then, from there tomorrow, will proceed to Rishikesh. Pray in your heart that you are coming to Rishikesh. Your mind should be in Rishikesh & Haridwar. Mentally come there. Have darshan. Then, from Rishikesh will proceed to Nizamabad. Koti Deepotsava (Lighting of 10 million/crorelamps) is organized there. From there, will proceed to Mysore. Bhagavat Saptah & Datta Jayanthi will be celebrated in Mysore.
After, Datta Jayanthi, Jayalakshmi Mata Kalyana is organized in Jayalakshmi Puram. There, Narasimha Shastri, i.e. Narahari Teertha Maharaj & Jayalakshmi Mata, were wed to eachother. Such an event of their marriage (Jayalakshmi Mata kalyanam) is celebrated on December 14th. The same day, it is Pradhana Anaghaashtami. Everyone of you please come & have darshan of Pradhana Anaghaastami.

Felt very nice seeing Swaroop Nagar Gam Dattatreya Mandir. Even more happy to see you all. To see you all, I have come here. I came running. Who is the Lord? Tell me. Without Bhakta (devotee) there is no Bhagavan (God) and without Bhagavan there is no Bhakta. What is the relationship? Relationship between Bhakta and Bhagavan? It is like the relation of Soul, life & body (Atma-Prana-sharir). Similarly, is the relationship of Bhagavan and Bhakta. That is why I came running to see you.
Today there was programme at Hanuman Dwarka Mandir. The programme went on very well. I came here and saw in Swaroop Nagar, such a big procession, thinking whether this is Dwarka Utsav (joyous celebration) or Swaroop Nagar Utsav. I concluded Dwarka Utsav is being celebrated at Swaroop Nagar and Swaroop Nagar Utsav is being celebrated at Dwarka. Its like that. Very nice. But this type, I don’t want. I am very shy to come to this type of utsav (procession). This type of utsav should be for the Lord, Sadguru Maharaj. That is why yesterday, I was telling Azadji to give me Azadi (freedom) from such a event. I don’t was to participate in such an utsav. Keep the photograph of Datta Bhagavan, keep photo of Sadguru Appaji. Then we can have a procession. I will also come as I am an attendant (Sevak). But, having a procession for me, I don’t like it. This is very difficult. It is very difficult to be saved from this love. We can be saved of aversion, aggression & anger (Dwesha), but, very difficult to be saved from this love. I got trapped in His love and all your love. This is devotion, sincerity & faith.
Everyone should know there is an Ashrama here. Such a big Ashrama, Swamiji has made and consecrated. Lord Datta, Kali maa, Shivji are here. Swamiji made this Ashram for all the people living here. I have very close connection with Swaroop Nagar. I am coming here since the last thirty years. Even during the consecration programme, I was here. Just like the kids here, I too was very small at that time. I was studying at that time. This was a very small village then. Swamiji had told during the Pratishta, that Swaroop Nagar will progress very well in future. The Swaroop (picture) of Swaroop Nagar will change for better. These were Swamiji’s words then. Now, today I remember this.
While coming here by car, my saarathi (chauffeur) for today told me that Swamiji had told everyone to purchase land here. “It will be good for you”. Some listened and some didn’t listen to Swamiji’s words. Guru does not say anything just like that. There is lot of meaning in the words of Guru. Catch it. Take it. Listen to the words of Guru. This leads to our betterment. Swamiji says for our betterment. It is good to listen to Guru’s words. Not only should we listen, but, put it in practice and walk in the same direction. All require Guru. If there is no Guru then no creation. Creation is mentioned in the Bhagavatam. Brahma made the creation. We all know Brahmaji. Where did He get the power to create? From Guru. Who is Brahma’s Guru? Narayana. Narayana became Guru and gave directions for this creation. Lord Narayana gave such powers to Brahma. With this power, Brahma created. Right from the beginning of creation there is importance for Guru. We have to understand Guru. That is why He goes to every place and gives darshan. Guru takes care in this manner.
Fish takes care through it’s eyes (Drishti). Kurma, i.e. Tortoise, do you know how they take care of their little ones? See how, and surely try to understand about tortoise. It lays it’s eggs in the shore here and goes away many miles far. Even leaves the country. From there, the tortoise takes care. How? She thinks about her children. Thought (Soch). Only by thought, she nourishes her children. Birds – do you know about birds? How do they care of their little ones? Birds take care by touch (sparsh). Fish, Tortoise and third is birds,i.e. Drishti, Soch, Sparsh.
Fish always leads in the front and checks whether the little ones are following and not going elsewhere. Thus, our Sadguru always comes among us and gives us direction. When His drishti (eyes), falls on us and ours on Him, protection takes place. That is why Guru is called Matsya-avatar (The form of Fish). The first avatar of the Lord was Matsya-avatar. The incarnation in the form of fish. In this way, He takes care of us. Tortoise – Wherever Guru is, He is now in Trinidad. But, He is thinking about us. Thought – Chintana – How we are? What they are doing now? My daughter, what is she doing now? Is she studying? How is her health? This way He is always thinking about us. He thinks of each and everyone. When He thinks, we undergo betterment. We are at peace. He sits there thinks about us.
These days who thinks about us? Guru thinks about us. Guru wants our betterment. His thought bring about our growth. Like birds, when some devotee is sad, He calls and talks to them. This gives them some solace. “Do not get scared – all will be well. Pray this. Do such pooja. Chant this mantra. Do charity of clothes, food, knowledge. This will bring good to you.” With such a message, through touch – Charan Sparsh or Pada Sparsh (touching the holy feet) or Paduka Sparsh (touching the holy Paduka’s), He gives His blessings. So Sadguru takes care like a fish, tortoise & bird.
For this protection and to energise us, Sri Swamiji has made this Ashram here. What is the reason for making this Ashram here? Why? Many told (as the Trustees, Matrumandali, volunteers are aware) that the ashram should be in the city, where there is more space. Many prayed still, Swamiji said “No, I will not make there. In Swaroop Nagar only, the Ashram will be made. This was Swamiji’s Sankalpa (vow). Why? Only because of His love for all of us. This is His grace & blessings. How should the Ashram be? What all should be there in the Ashram?
We all know that pooja’s should take place, spiritual thoughts should be exchanged. This we all know. But, from the society’s point of view, here in Delhi, at Swaroop Nagar, a very good social service is happening and this gives a lot of happiness. This is the First Ashrama, where there is Balwadi & Aanganwadi (pre school run for economically weaker sections),children come here and learn bhajans. Now, the children were singing. It felt very nice.
Education (Vidya), Medical treatment (Vaidya) & food feeding (Annadaana). Give education to everyone, Medical facilities with doctor and medicines should be provided. Here, medical camps are being done. Annadaana is a must.
All Gods are happy when Annadaana is done. Do plenty of Annadaana. Ask and serve food with love. This gives happiness to God and He is satisfied. When He is satisfied and happy we get everything. Here Annadaana (providing food), vidyadaana (providing education) & vaidya daana (providing medication), all are happening. It gives a lot of happiness to hear this. Photographs of events happening here are brought to Mysore and shown. This gives a lot of happiness. Why I have come to the Ashram? To see you all. It is also the result of all the services which are happening here. Seeing the procession & celebration here, everyone would think that Swamiji would have a week long or, three or five day function. I too felt like that. I will surely come next time. Here, in this Ashrama, where there are so many Hanuman devotees, lovers of Hanuman, we will do Sundar Kaanda Parayana for three days with all of you. We will do bhajans, Utsav (joyous celebration) in such away that, Lord Hanuman will dance and sing with us. That sought of utsav we will do.
Sri Balaswaniji addresses Balwadi students:
Children, do study well. Obey your parents. Listen to your teacher. May the teacher also teach you well. May you all have good health. May the grace of Lord Datta be ever with you. Let Lord Datta give more strength to all the volunteers, trustees , Matrumandali for doing more service. Thus, I pray. I listened to the bhajan, Pahi Pahi Gajanana, it was very nice. Why should you be shy to sing in front of God? He knows everything. He is Govinda Kanna. Do not feel shy to ask God. Pray to God everyday because, He has only given us birth.
Where did we get birth from? From God. Why He gave this birth? He gave us this birth because, He loves us and gives us a lot of blessings. So fulfill the purpose of this human birth. Come and pray everyday in this temple. Take darshan of Lord Datta, chant, “JAI GURU DATTA, SRI GURU DATTA, Om Namo Hanumate Namaha, Om Gam Ganapathaye Namah.”
All can come to the temple and take darshan. Sri Swamiji built this temple with this Sankalpa (vow) only. All of you should come and make use of this place. This is your house. Your Mother’s house. So come and use the Ashram and do some service here. We have got this birth, for doing service only. Come and pray. What should you pray? Ask for His blessings. The list of our wants is never ending. So ask Sadguru for His blessing. In your mind, whatever desire (Sankalpa) you have, pray that you may do, accordingly. Ask for such a blessing from the Lord. It is a very auspicious day today. Today is Karthika Masa Somavara (Monday of Karthika month). We are having Darshan of Shivji and Kali Mata too. Let there be Lord Datta’s blessings on you all always. Thus I pray. Let us move to the further programme.
